Great deep clean Steph. My grandma taught me to always start at the top and work downwards, then any dust etc will fall on the shelf/floor below. I'm been doing that for 50 years now! When I'm cleaning floors I start at the opposite end to the door and work backwards, that way you don't leave footprints when the floor is drying. With 3 young children and no extra help I think you do a fantastic job! June

Hi Steph, Ive actually got a recommendation for you and anyone else reading this! You can buy a plastic microwave lid for a couple bucks at Target, Ikea, etc to cover your food so it doesn't explode in your microwave. I never have a big disgusting job of cleaning my microwave anymore. the lid has proved to be my most time saving and useful wedding gift ever. Who knew ? lol. KEY tip: leave the lid stored in your microwave so it actually gets used every time! Thanks for the cleaning motivation today. :)

Holy moly! I got motivated to clean my oven after watching this and as I was scrubbing the glass door I didn’t realize the water could so easily be pushed to the back side of the glass. It then got stuck there and we ended up having to take the whole door apart and there are like four different panes of glass that we had to pull out before we got to the part with the water. It was a huge disaster. On top of that I ended up scratching the glass because I was scrubbing it so hard. I went back and watched your video again on how you cleaned your oven and I definitely need to be more like you and just get it cleaned good enough and not be a perfectionist about it. Thanks for doing these videos! I really enjoy them and like learning tips. Oh and I tried your dryer sheet tip on the racks and loved it!

One tip for your oven door on the inside, use steel wool with your Lysol spray or some other slick product. Soap and water will work just fine! Hi 👋🏼 there, for the racks, use white vinegar and baking soda next time. Pour the 2 over then, and let them sit for 15-20 minutes or as long as you want them, you can always check them and do the potion again and stubborn parts, that’s what I do, but for me, it’s guarantee no scrubbing, my husband doubt it before, now is his go to cleaning when he does the kitchen. 😃

I’m loving your print out! Thank you so much. You and Diane in Denmark are my Fly Lady leaders. I’ve learned so much from you. My mom would get on her hands and knees to scrub the kitchen floor, she used bon ami scrub or comet and a lot of water for rinsing. She did this a couple times a week. I remember she didn’t want anyone to catch her floors dirty, like a surprise visit from her mother or sisters, or a friend or neighbor. That was her cleaning motivation! We had linoleum tiles and a film would develop. I use a steam mop now, yes I’ve tried every mop and system available out there, I like the steam mop or good old fashioned hands and knees! I’m following along with fly lady, I’m in my third month. So, now that I’m pretty much done decluttering, I’m doing zones. I did my oven, I use the boiling water and ammonia overnight method. I know it’s toxic but it works for me and less toxic and cheaper than a can of oven spray cleaner. I keep the window open and vent on. It feels so good to have it cleaned. I’ve also done a deep refrigerator clean, my open shelves with nick nacks and wiped down the walls and cabinets. I feel really good. One thing is I’m going way over time that fly lady says to. I don’t know if I’ll get faster, but the time just doesn’t seem to be reasonable for me and my house. If it works for others that’s great.
@pippysmama76394 жыл бұрын
Amie Rikke I can relate to this as I did the same when I was starting out on FlyLady routines. It might be because the dirt has built up, so you’ve got more to scrub. Or, your old way was to spend too much time cleaning which is a habit now. Or, you’re aiming for perfection. My advice: choose small areas to tackle eg, one shelf, one drawer. Work relatively fast and don’t get too fussy about perfectionism. Stay focussed and STOP when the timer goes off. Reward yourself what what you did get done with a tick on your list and a break for 5-10 minutes. Eventually you’ll get used to working in small, manageable chunks. Keep going! This system really works.

I don't have a self STEAM, I have a self cleaning oven. I can set the cycle for shorter or longer. I find that a 4 hour cycle does the job, but a 3 hour won't. Maybe you can extend the self steaming cycle? After I wipe out my oven, I use my all purpose spray, and if I need a bit of scrubbing power, I spray first and then shake on some backing soda. There is occasionally some residue left over from the baking soda, but it wipes off easily.

My dishwasher is always clean and the dishes never smell like they just came out of a dishwasher...LOL Anyway....I just keep a bottle of straight vinegar next to my dishwasher soap and add it in (I just eyeball it....probably like a quarter cup or so of vinegar) just before I run it. Looking forward do the next Zone Printable....this week's has kept me in track and moving right along! Thanks!!!! 😊❤️

I need to clean my oven!! So I will hop up and get it done!! I don't have any hacks for the oven, but for the dishwasher and my washing machine is use a cup of vinegar and cup of bicarbonate of soda for the dishwasher I sprinkle both all over the bottom of the dishwasher put it on longest cycle and for the washing machine again a cup of each into the washing machine drum put on the hottest wash and walk away!! This also cleans and descales inside workings of your appliances, keeping them in tip tip condition, I descale my kettle with a couple of teaspoons of citric acid, works brilliant, you can also use a sachet or half a cup of this in your dishwasher or washing machine, it works just as good!! I absolutely love your kitchen tiles, gives such a vibrant splash of colour, my favourite colours are peacock blues, teals and my house was very neutral, but I have now accessorised each room with splashes of colour like this...cushions etc....you can then easily change if you get fed up 😻 xxx

Did self clean option and there is always like ash leftover. I went to wipe down with wet cloth when oven was still too hot apparently and the wet rag (which was probably coolish in temperature). The glass window cracked immediately when cool rag touched hot oven door/glass. 😞. Also I tried racks in tub and I don’t recall the method but it did not work and left rust marks in my tub bottom. I WILL try your method because I can never get the racks looking nice. I am new to flylady (about 2mo) and just love it. So much wisdom!! Thanks Steph!

1. Fly lady used to say to start at the ceiling and work down to floor so the dust settles below. If we do this we avoid messing up a clean shelf because the dust came down from the upper shelf. Also start with the cleanest part of the cabinet then move to dirtiest part, less possibility of transferring grime from bottom up to the sides. These are the highlights I learned from Fly Lady. 2. Glass stove top repair, have you thought about using a car windshield repair kit to fill the crack? 3. Love you and your videos. Thanks for the inspiration as always.

I found Diane in Denmark through Steph!😁 Thanks so much for your honest, realistic take on cleaning, Steph, and your excellent videos and suggestions! I, too, was a ‘secret slob’, cleaning like a crazy woman whenever guests were expected, and cringing at the thought of anyone seeing my home other times. So nice to know I’m not the only one!

I lay my racks in the sink and put a dish washer tablet (or two) in the water, leave for like an hour and then I can just wipe and they're all clean :)

@@missmayflower Ikea is the answer (to almost everything) :) But you can of course put them in your tub and use a dish washer tablet there too :) www.ikea.com/no/no/p/norrsjoen-innbyggingskum-1-kum-rustfritt-stal-s49157909/

The dreaded cracked stove top.... I too dropped a cast iron lid and cracked the same corner. Tape is what I've always used as well.

Gosh Steph you’ve achieved so much! I’m really not feeling the cleaning vibe at the moment but I have your printable hanging in my kitchen and I’m working through it slowly. It really helps having it there because I see it often and want to get things ticked off! Thanks for keeping us all going 😀

Hi.thank for sharing. I love all of your video.and sometimes I watch them more than 2 time 😊 I have a experience for clean the inside stove ..rack and ..i. Just use baking soda with a little water . it works perfect. For rack you can use baking soda with brush its easier than rag. Sorry for my poor English😒😅

You should research dryer sheets, I was amazed to find out what the ingredients were!

I'm so surprised that lysol was the only cleaner available at the store. In my town, lysol was the first cleaner to be out of stock!

My Whirlpool oven’s steam clean cycle is useless, but it also has a cycle called precise clean that is wonderful and reduces all the baked on stuff to ash using high heat. If your oven has that option, try it out. I clean my racks outside on a sunny day. I don’t like the idea of having a greasy mess in my tub to clean or scratching the finish accidentally.

Please can you make videos of all your zones like this. I have no probs with my daily cleaning and weekly cleaning, but I struggle with zones - sticking to the 15 mins.... I was really successful last time I zone cleaned my bedroom, so I know I can do it. I hate the idea of not everything gtg cleaned once the zone comes round and I'm not the quickest cleaner, also I have to wait til my husband comes home from work / or the weekend so I can clean behind furniture, so I can't always crack on in the mornings when I've more motivation. Each time the zone comes round its not very dirty, so that's good too Xx
