I had already called the repairmen at G&G appliance repair when I spotted this video. Fortunately, G&G in their incompetence, had forgotten to dispatch anyone so I ordered the fuse from Amazon and repaired my Whirlpool oven myself following this terrific video. The oven works great!! Interesting that reading the various factory manuals and calling the manufacturer as well didn't provide this simple fix. Thor Repairs is wonderful

My oven went out 2 days ago. Watched your video and ordered a part for my Whirlpool oven (model# WOS51ECOASO4) and it showed up in 24 hours. I put it on and I`m back in business. Thanks a lot for saving me several hundred $$$. You`re the MAN!! Part cost me 21 dollars on Amazon.

Dude: I cannot express how much appreciation I have for you making this video. This was exactly the problem with my Whirlpool and I fixed it for basically $35 ($20 for multi-meter and $15 for thermal fuse). A service tech would have charged me quintuple or more. My hats off to you.

Thank you Thor for showing the steps of replacing thermal fuse! It was quite intimidating to try to work on a big appliance without any experience, but your video made it very straightforward. Apparently, a blown fuse is a common issue with ovens. but it must have a reason to trig it. I have not figured out mine yet, just keep my fingers crossed. However, I did notice that it was the moment when I opened the hot oven door the fuse burst. so maybe your suggested culprit of opening oven door is right. will remember to keep oven door closed from now on. Thanks again!

Mine is still working since I stopped opening the door to cool the oven off quicker. I hope your is still working as well. 👍🏻

My daughter and I replaced the fuse and it worked.... for about a week, and then again it went dead.... (which I have read is a common occurrence). I read a comment somewhere that someone had gone through what we are currently going through, and it was suggested by someone else that the fan/motor, plus the fuse would need to be replaced. I believe that commenter who wrote in later returned to say, “continued success” with her second repair attempt (using both the fuse and fan). I’ve received the 2nd fuse and am awaiting the shipment of the fan/motor. Is there a video around showing the fan/motor replacement for my single Kitchenaid single wall oven? I ended up barbecuing our Thanksgiving turkey (in Canada) and hope to avoid doing our Christmas dinner outside... any help you can offer is appreciated.

My thermal fuse went only that one time and my oven is still going strong. If a regular fuse went it makes perfect sense the fan is causing it to blow. I don’t know of a video for the fan replacement but if you have replaced the fuse yourself I’m sure the fan wouldn’t be too hard. The access is from the very back so your oven would have to come right out to work on. I hope you get your issue resolved and post here with an update.

Why is it that it happens when we wake up? I used my oven the night before to make pizza. That means I was running it at 550 degrees. We went to sleep and voila, woke up to a dead oven !!!

Thanks for the video. I have a 17 year old Frigidaire wall oven. It has power, but neither the broiler or bake element work. Following your video, I removed the thermal fuse and used a "Continuity tester" to test the fuse. The light lit up, so presumably the fuse is not the problem (I think). Any ideas what to do next?
@thorrepairs6557 Жыл бұрын
I am no appliance repair man but I would go through and look for other fuses. There should be other cylindrical type fuses that you can do the same test on.
@redding45403 жыл бұрын
you should just take those screws out completely from the display because those brackets will hold it tight enough. that's what I did for easy access

@@thorrepairs6557 after discussing it with my significant other "wifey". She said just temporarily until new thermal fuse comes in. We want that piece of mind if the oven were to ever fail for whatever reason to have that thermal fuse in there.

Mine has tripped three times in the last 5 years. Each time it happens when I have the heat up at 500+F, open the door to stir or remove a pan, and forget to CLOSE the door immediately, BEFORE putting down the pan. When the oven door stays open at that heat, the power kicks in to recover, but it can't recover because the door is still open. That surge trips the thermal fuse. So, get your face out of the way, open the oven door quickly, grab the pan and kick the door shut, stir, get your face out of the way again, replace the pan quickly and close the door, or turn off the power if you are done. Finally, I now keep an extra fuse or two in the house. They are not expensive and you won't have to wait 10 days for delivery. Hope this helps someone.

I am suspecting fan failure or design flaw, My customer used self clean and this identical problem occurred, I couldn't find any service bulletin on this. My Oven is still working and I do honestly think leaving the door open to cool it was the root cause of the thermal fuse to fail. Please report back though if you find anything out. I appreciate a person with 40 years experience commenting. 👍🏻

Is this normal ? I mean that after a few years of use the fuse just shuts ? Mine woke up a few days ago just like yours . Nothing on the panel . Went and played with the breaker but nothing . That’s why I’m here finding out what to do before getting somebody to charge me $$$$$

@@thorrepairs6557 Before I get electrocuted :), you turned off the breaker and you tested the end of the thermofuse and still read around 80. It was not at 0. So there was still some power running to it. Right?
@thorrepairs65572 жыл бұрын
@@silviamaria1000 there was only power running up to the fuse but not through it to the other side. If you have a multimeter you can check the fuse once it’s out to see if it’s any good by doing a continuity test. Make sure all power is off before removal of the fuse. Good luck!
