As a long time TCG player, Sorcery is the only TCG I was ever compelled to collect an entire set and so ended up collecting the entire Beta non-foil set. And because of the slow release cycle, I may have time to collect a few select foils.

Would have never known how to collect Sorcery without you. Thanks

I recommend to collect sealed alpha cases

Nice take on the collecting side, but I think sometimes you are mistaking collecting for investing. Beta is probably not for investing, I agree, but iis a great alternative for collecting for people who completely missed Alpha and arrived a bit later in the game and for people who just cant afford to spend a few grand on cardboard to complete an Alpha set.

This game is hilarious. One set a year but content all year round.

Full Beta NF set. 2 sealed cases of Beta. Going for graded foil Alchemy 9 (have all the cores) in 9 or better (PCG), Dragon cards 9 or better, Dual sites 9 or better, and lofty goal of all unique sites 9 or better all with PCG. I would never be able to attempt this with the slow release cycle. Love the one set a year with possible ancillary products.

I would love to have a full curio collection but I don't have an extra $20k+ to spend on cards, lol. I pulled my one from Beta (Far East Assassin) so that will have to be my curio collection. I also wanted to own a sample card but didn't want to spend the going price for the special art or name cards so I got an Ordinary of a favorite artwork (Unravel) that has different game text from the print version. Makes it feel more special than some of the other sample cards that are identical to the final print version other than the copyright symbol. Collecting full Alpha and Beta sets was a no brainer, but going for foil sets is a little beyond me. I do really like though the couple of foils that have errors from the non-foil version of the card. I had a lot of fun spending essentially all of last summer hunting down the Alpha set and got my last Alpha card just a week or two after Beta released. I got my last Beta card about a month ago.

When Erik's Curiosa said they will not reprint the Alpha Avatars, did they mean they wouldn't reprint with the same art, or that it would never be reprinted ever again. I thought they meant with that type of art. It doesn't seem wise to never reprint an avatar again as they are the cornerstone to certain playstyles. Alpha is just too expensive for me. To me, there is almost no difference between Alpha and Beta cards. I am collecting all the Beta foils I want, and going to have a playset of Beta. The only Alpha cards I have are the Avatars I want (non-foils unless I win the lotto), and Erik's Curiosa non-foil (love this card). I personally could care less about the curios, I would only keep a pulled one if I thought it would go up in value. Also, I have a hard time imagining that Alpha will go up more in value. The prices on Alpha foils are already So High and the prices are likely just going to stagnate or drop. I mean, is an Alpha Immortal Throne really worth $625? $300? The Beta one sits at $20 now. Only time will tell though.

They wouldn’t reuse the same art. It was confirmed that they would print the avatars using different art with the same avatar mechanic

Only time has the answer but if Sorcery keeps growing then so will the value of Alpha and that's ok. Beta might have its moment sometime in the future also especially if they do changes/revisions in the base sets. For the average player now though, yeah agreed, it's better/safer to stick with beta.

7 months later, very few people are playing them as the Beta Avs appear to be just better. The most commonly used Av is the Sorvcerer, which is the box topper.

What do you think of the alt arts like the alt alpha arts from frank frazetta or the promo exclusives from rudys kits?
@le_med8 ай бұрын
"collecting the whole set all at once" are you saying that guaranteed in a booster case there is a whole set with all variations of a card or just base set like MTG for example? I thought productions had changed from the old school booster box where a case did not guarantee anymore to get all the set. Is that different now or is this just for Sorcery?

What’s your take on artist proof or alters ?

Poor potential for value increase. I think if you enjoy them then collect them. They don’t do much for me.

You prefer bgs as grading but they don’t grade samples. So which company would you send your samples to be graded ?
@KitchenTableTCG9 ай бұрын
I don’t see a significant value in grading samples. They are so rare, the grades probably won’t add or subtract value imo.

Alpha is the first , but it is niche and crowd funded only . It will absolutely have a premium forever , but 99% of people will collect Beta , its just more realistic as Beta is the FIRST retail available set . Very few people even heard about this game in time for the Kick starter Alpha . I collect both fwiw

With the attention and money moving to other games in the sorcery doldrums. No winds in these sales. The market has dropped 20-30% already the beta philo stone already dropped 45% from its peak. We are fully in catching a falling dagger territory. Will be interesting to see if the prices rebound with the next set. Tendies are counting on it.

Lots of sweaty Alpha Lords that missed out on MTG Alpha, the holy grail of all TCG collecting, believing the unwashed beta owners are beneath them! Healthy attitude that, watch the game dump!
@nibernator10 ай бұрын
The prices are guaranteed to rebound as the game gets more popular so long as the power nine and foils are not reprinted or over printed in future sets. The game's player base looks like it grew 25% in the last 3-4 months, if not more. Only time will tell

Beta singles have been on downward trend lately but sealed has crept back up. Markets fluctuate and Sorcery will be no different. The rate of sales have been great for January/February and that's what matters. The community is growing and players are staying.

Collecting an Alpha NF set will run you about $4500 at current prices and a full playset is about $5500. Louie's Foil Alpha set is probably 1 of less than 15 in the world and I doubt there will ever be more than 25 of them. NF Alpha sets will probably never be more than a few hundred.

The company hasn't announced anything. Community events are consistently growing as is the playerbase. Market and sales are holding. All indicators points to the game being alive and well!
