Do you pack your lines when you park your kite? Where do you leave your bar when you make a small break? Let me know what you do or see other people doing.

Don’t pack the lines even I should start doing that for safety on the beaches like you mentioned.. the bar I put it always in the kite with some sand

Always great to hear from you. Another great tip, even for pros and experienced riders. If the experienced kiter lead by example, the newer riders will follow this practice and everyone will benefit.

Exactly, this is something pros or beginners should do. it should be incorporated in lessons also. It can minimize the risk of accidents and so we should all pass this info around. After the accident, the thing that came to my mind is that it could have been easily avoided if we had good practice rules that we follow. Spread the word!

Fully agree! Pity not many ppl do follow these tips. To me it's like putting dumbbells back to their place after usage in a gym. But we all know what the reality looks like... Anyways very useful vids and the more safety (and kiteboarding culture actually) ambassadors we have, the better! Thumb up man!

Fantastic advice - not taught anywhere else or practised. Had my lessons last year and not taught this simple yet hugely effective process. Also, it’s super busy here and kite lines get all mixed up and blocked - all the more reason to follow your excellent advice. I will from now on. Thanks. 👍🪂

Glad it’s helpful. It’s something that is often overlooked as during lessons we start and stop once. If there are breaks it should be for sure taught. And if your spot is busy it comes down to us more experienced kiters to have the correct behaviour

Thanks Tiago a nice explanation of a simple process that saves hassle and prevents accidents. The title of your video is somewhat misleading though. I'm pretty sure that landing the kite at the edge of the wind window is not only pretty safe but also the only safe way when using an assistant to help land. I guess it baited me in to clicking to see what you had to say.
@KookProofActivityCenter
@KookProofActivityCenter 3 жыл бұрын
It was not the intention to click bait. And yes it’s the only place to land safely. I’ll check it to something more related to the parking. It has to do with the landing procedure but not the landing itself. More about the post landing.

True. I have recorded this a while ago but with so much other work it took me a while to upload it. The title was not done with a lot of effort. Once I’m back at the computer I’ll change it to don’t leave your kite/Bar where you land it. Maybe makes more sense

I think most people leave their lines out because they are less likely to get tangled and they're ready to go after taking a break. But yes, our site can get messy. Since I am able to kite during weekdays, I usually leave by the time the beach starts getting crowded and messy. It seemed that towards the end of the season our local instructors had an extra hand on site to help prevent people from getting into trouble.

I never knew to put bar with kite. I do usually secure my bar with the carabiner bc too many times my lines ended up tangled after I mismanaged them.

In very windy spots it's better to have a sand bag weight (or similar) to anchore the Kite. I have seen sand slowly blow off Kites setting them free.
@KookProofActivityCenter
@KookProofActivityCenter 3 жыл бұрын
Yes for sure. The best option is the sandbag. The sand is very abrasive and so its not ideal to put on the kite. But kitesurfers are lazy (me included) and so we don't take sand bags to weight down the kite. Some brands even included one with the kite but i don't see many people using it.

I often leave my bar on my kite but not for your wise safety reason: it is only because my bar is quite wet and I avoid to leave it on the beach where it will catch sand. But this reason is just nonsense when I put sand on the kite! By doing so at least only half line length will stay on the beach. I wrap my lines only when the beach is crowded (summer, high tide...). Not doing so led several times to a big mess on the beach on crowded days🥺
