Hi. You should explain how you do the waterstart with one hand. This question is not in the video. After this, grabing a board or a kite is not a big deal. Can you explain please?
@tiagorocha7827 күн бұрын
It's there, but I can make it more straightforward. Check 2:50 and 3:25 . I'm explaining how to position your hand to pilot the kite. This will allow for a more easy water start. I'll include a more detailed version of this technique when I revise this video. Thanks for pointing it out.

Getting the feet in is a tricky step that isnt covered enough in other videos. This looks like a good technique im looking forward to trying. Seems like this solves a few problems

Hi Man. Thank you for your video. Really helped me with water starting, but wanted to ask if you would do an updated video on the Down-Up water start as I've been trying to learn it to all my friends but they struggling to get the overall understanding of it from this video. Thanks
@KookProofActivityCenter2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I plan to do an updated version with one video using different techniques to showcase the differences and advantages of each. In the end, you should master any of them. But i think the one that can speed up the understanding and muscle training is to start with the down-up. We reached the water start phase with some clients in 90 minutes with no previous usable skills. More time is needed to improve all the techniques, but the progression rate of the right exercises is astonishing. (Sorry for the delay in adding more content and updating the old one. It's on my to-do list but hasn't reached the top yet, but it's getting there.

@@KookProofActivityCenter Hi, thank you for your quick response. I couldn't agree more with your statement that all 3 should be taught and learned from a beginners perspective, as all 3 has their advantages and reasons for existing in certain circumstances. Regarding the quick learning of the Down-Up with new kiters.... That's exactly why i think a more in detail video on this technique would be advantageous as I think this would be a game changer to new kiters. TBH I have asked everyone about this way of water start, and NO ONE knows about it. I'm in Blouberg (Cape Town) and you would think that people would know. That being said, would highly request/recommend that you do a more in detail Down-Up video as I know for a fact a lot of people would find it super useful. Thanks again.

It's working quite well, lessiona were much better with this, that can I confirm as a student. Several issues though, mostly limitations of the current technology - signal is weaker by the distance and blocked by the waves (of course). It could help to have some kind of station above water level to improve connectivity. But in the most of situations it's fine like this. Then it's not transmitting under water, after fall. Again that's expected, simple physics. But it's unnecessary for teacher to tell anything during this moment, because student can hear shit and cannot tell anything back. So 2-3 seconds to recover signal again + like 5 second in my case to get water from ears. :) Lastly - it's crucial to avoid contamination by sand. My teacher kept telling me like 100 times after session ends - don't drop in on sand, don't drop it !! Yeah and I nearly did it once. :D But overall - it's very good tool and I highly recommend it.

just request your instructor to hold the board in front of your feets, this is the most easy way ;-O)
@tiagorocha785 ай бұрын
Yes it is. A bit costly in the long run but as long as he is close it works perfectly. In open water it will be harder.

Hi. If you are talking about passing the line back up, I've found out it's not necessary. So you can skip this step.
@robinc.546011 ай бұрын
What about adding a knot in the loop to make for a universal loop/knot connection for different kites? Is that doable?

I don’t think you can do it with this technique. If you use a sewing machine it will work i think.

not bad. appreciate the video. other vids are showing that the end of the line (which get burried than) needs to be made thinner. as there is the part the lines than are likely to break. so here is a crucial part missing...
@KookProofActivityCenter11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I know it looks better to make the end thinner. So far I’ve used it in several kite lines without ever having any breaks and i have used those lines in strong winds.

One suggestion would be that over software, we could make all radios always receive audio to master and only connect the voice to the one you want. It could be interesting to have that feature.
@kitelife_pl_kiteboarding Жыл бұрын
That's cool we can mute other student to speak only with one. However it's very bad I can't still hear other student. I should hear all students all time even I mute my voice for someone.
@KookProofActivityCenter Жыл бұрын
Never thought of that. Its a good point but can also be complicated if they are talking at the same time. They can click a button to connect to the master also.

By not tapering the bury, the weakest point of the whole line is now the point where the line steps in its thickness.

I'm 72 now. I started to learn kiting about 8 years ago. First thing that happened was a divorce. Next I had to move... this caused a delay for a few years. All this stuff he's talking about (Most of it) happened but I had other guys around who knew what to do. Getting pro lessons is a must. WATCHING HUNDREDS OF HOURS ON YOU TUBE IS A MUST ! Dedicate yourself to the effort, equipment and get to an area where you can do it often. North Carolina is where I am now and it's very good because of the shallow lagoons and outer banks area. Location is the most important because the wind is the engine and frequency of go out is necessary especially in the first 5 years. Tides. wind direction, obstacles and upwind wind shadow effects, downwind obstacles and dangers all matter very much. Don't even ever think you can learn this alone. You should be able to get with friends to do it as much as possible and have a radio earpiece and coach telling you what to do with remote communication. This will accelerate your ability and stop all the bad habits from ever forming in the first place. I picked the wrong location and now have to move to a better one. There are many tricks and tips you NEED to know or you could easily get killed. I have seen some very bad accidents. The slower you go the less dangerous. I have Broke Ribs ~ Got Friction Burns, and suffered many drags and near drownings. GET A CREW FOR THE FIRST 5 YEARS... Not going is much safer than just going and if the beach is crowded forget it. There is a very good reason to be at the exact place at the right time . I thought I'd never find anything as good as surfing and am a life long surfer. Kiting is actually much BETTER ! OMG ~ SOOO GLAD I KEPT AT IT !! soon I'll be kiting into waves and really being good. ALOHA !

Hello, thx for video. I would learn to my son, 12yo and 40Kg. I think about this model. Do you think it's possible to him to learn the first edge and upwind with a Viron 4m² ? We Ride near Leucate in France. 15 to 30 knts (and more, but not for a child).
@KookProofActivityCenter Жыл бұрын
Thank you for reaching out. Considering your son's age and weight, I'd recommend looking into the hybrid model, specifically the 3.5m² version. It offers superior depower compared to the Viron, which I believe would be more suitable for a young learner. I've created a video review on that particular kite, which might provide more insight. I genuinely believe it would be a great fit for your son, especially in the wind conditions you mentioned near Leucate. Stay safe and happy kiting!

I understand it’s a single skin and I don’t believe it’s gonna hit 20-30’ or 7-9m. What kind of height can you get with this kite and is it good for non boosted jumps (ie, back/front roll, butter slides, hand drags/plant, dark slides, and others)
@KookProofActivityCenter Жыл бұрын
For non-boosted jumps, it works perfectly. Hangtime is not the best, but pop jumps are no problem.

Hi Tiego With your experience what minimum length of line and type/size of kite would you recommend to ride on a small lake with very unstable winds and very poor launching zone with many obstacles ! I am quite skilled of piloting kites and I may use foil kite of 10m2 or 15m2 that I use with good sea wind with 17m lines. I may also use inflatable kites of various size if it is more appropriate. Is it possible to use them with 5m lines with variable and quite light winds (10/15kts, gust at 20)? Which board do I need to be able to ride upwind? Is it possible with a twintip? Thank you! 😎
@KookProofActivityCenter Жыл бұрын
It isn't easy to give a definitive answer without observing the exact conditions. However, for gusty winds, it's advisable to use a normal line size. Nonetheless, this could pose a challenge if your launch zone is not ideal. Using very short lines in very gusty conditions can make riding extremely difficult. In the gusty condition, I would advise a big board. It can be a twin-tip, but make it bigger so you can continue riding in the lulls.
