Kitesurfing 150km around the Isle Of Wight

Sam Light and Tom Court circumnavigate The Isle Of Wight kitesurfing on hydrofoils in just under 6 hours. Join us on one of the most epic days kiteboarding I have ever experienced. I grew up sailing around the solent and always fancied kiting around the Isle Of Wight, hydro-foiling has made it way more achievable. It's been on my mind for many years and this week I knew there was solid south west wind all week, I woke up that morning and decided to go for it. I called my mate Tom Court who lives on the Isle Of Wight and he was up for the challenge, we figured out the tides, packed a bag and set off. I took my phone in a dry bag so my Dad could track me and potentially make a call if I got stuck. We took our time and made it round in just under 6 hours, it was an epic day with a few close calls around the needles and St Catherine's Point.
Many years ago the great British explorer George Mallory (who died on Mount Everest) was asked why did he want to climb it. He said, "Because it is there."

Great video, great adventure - nice work mate. Also nice to see the amount of prep you guys went into, including taking a phone. I think the sad events on the Island that Wednesday just highlight the risks inherent to the sport, and how even the experienced can get caught out. My other half and I were watching the four of them for about 30mins. One of them was quite a way out and was going from kne side of the bay to the other, proper clever stuff. Dont know what happened they all looked pros, heard the blues about an hour later
