Thanks Mark I now know what to expect from my Cruzer with the UL Power 350iS engine. I have an Airmaster electric CSU prop to fit which should make it a tad better than your results. Need to pull my finger out first and complete the build. Great feedback Mark keep it coming.

Great to hear that you now talk in KNOTS just like you would whilst flying jets in your job etc and not bloody MPH. Thanks mate I have followed your videos from inception to completion and find that I have learnt a lot from them even though I have built an RV14A and a Viking Dragonfly. Love the Cruzer and cant wait to fly it !

We're in the process of finalising setup of the Dynon fuel flow - we installed the red cube - doing pretty much the same as you. There is an adjustment in the Dynon setup pages, you change the pulses... still figuring it out myself.

Love your content, keep up the good work! I'm in the learning phase and hope to get sport pilot license this fall to then build a kit plane.

I know this is about "fuel flow" but your leaning back to climb and leaning forward to descend caught my attention. It remined me of the days when I was flying a Sabreliner 40. We didn't use the autopilot; didn't trust it. We hand flew all the time and at 370 it could be a hand full. I learned that if you trimmed the nose down, maybe 50 f/m, you could control the altitude just my adding, or subtracting, the back pressure on the elevators when the passengers moved around in the back. I could hold altitude while the other pilots kept moving the trim and bobbing up and down and not stay on altitude. I guess that is why they often called me the silver fox. I broke down one day and told them how it was done. Now we all could stay on altitude.

Cameras? Get a 3D one. John Humbert did it. With a headset on it was like being in the copilot seat. Love your flying content.

I found it interesting at the end, you were talking about your power setting. At this point in time I don't have an airplane but having done design work on a couple homebuilt aircraft designs and found slowing down 8 to 10 knots can reduce the power requirements a fair amount. Of course this has a direct correlation to fuel burn. My engineer friend and I agreed that we will likely be flying by the fuel flow meter than the airspeed or tachometer. One design the difference between cruising at 105 knots and 95 knots was 1.6 gallons an hour theoretically on the computer model. You need to ask yourself is that added 10 knots worth the fuel burn? Knowing your fuel burn is handy for flight planning, but also how well the engine is tuned or not tuned.

I also don't have the "red cubes" there is a setting in the Dynon HDX where you change the "k" factor from the stock Dynon setting which is what is used for the red cubes to the UL fuel flow in the manual. Your burn is now close to mine considering I factored in start, warm-up, taxi, climb and landing.

There is probably a K factor that can be set in the Dynon for the fuel data, the UL must be sending the fuel injection pulses and duration data, or it may just send the pulse data and the amount of fuel per pulse may be estimated. Since the amount of fuel coming out of the injector is such a small amount per pulse its going to be a very small adjustment on the Dynon.

I do remember Ray saying something about it measuring the pulses, so that's probably how it's measuring it, but now I have to figure out why it's measuring it incorrectly.

Can you provide an insight into your camera placement - your shots are amazing. Hoping to buy a Cruzer (with a ulpower 350is so this video was timely) soon and so would love to be able to get footage at similar angles to what you have - also any information on the mounts your using would be awesome!

Hey there, did you end up buying the Cruzer? I'm looking at buying a CH650 at the moment with a 350is but nobody knows jack squat about the engine! If you bought the cruzer, have you ran into any issues with the engine? TIA!

Would be interesting to put a known 5 gallons thru the sensor and see what data comes out of it as far as signals. I would assume that it has to be calibrated for fuel line pressure. Is there an adjustment on the sensor?

I do the same thing with VFR altitude below 3000 AGL in northern Ohio...2250 MSL, 2750 MSL, 3250 MSL, etc...maybe we'll miss each other by 50' then!

I have a UL 350is with Dynon HDX system (without the Red Cubes). My setup shows a K factor for both fuel flow to and return input setting in order to determine the Fuel Flow for the display. I know that the engine fuel flow formula is: 1. 48 l/h = 12.68 gallons / hr 2. 170 pulses / sec = 612,000 pulses / hr 3. 612,000 / 12.68 = 48,265 pulses / gal 4. Calculated K factor is 48,265. (This number is input into the fuel flow "To")

G,day Mark from Sydney Manly Australia. Nice flying around. I'm interested in how the hot air is directed from around the engine? A. Butterfly valve B. Scat hoses And the smell the gasoline smell - "smells like.... Victory" ,🇭🇲🦅

Mine works the same way as most general aviation airplanes. There is a "heat muff" around the exhaust. That heats the air and then that warm air is directed into the cabin through a butterfly valve on the firewall.

Mark, I'll tell you that difference of 1 gallon an hour would bother me until I figured out why there is a difference. So, It will be interesting to hear what you find out. I don't fly, but I've kept a log of every car I owned since 1968. It is shocking to see what the price of a gallon was back then compared to today. And how happy I was back then if I got 18 mpg!!!

HDX says 5,7 gal, then you filled up 5,8 gal. So it is only of 0,1 of a gallon and not a full 1x gallon

The 5.7 is the total gallons used during the flight. So being a gallon off, it really should read 6.7 if it was measuring correctly.
