In autumn of last year, I visited an import trader for Japanese cars in Germany and took the chance to sit down in an Daihatsu Tanto of 2005. I'm actually 2,00m tall and I had absolutely no problem fitting either in the front or rear seats. The packaging that Daihatsu created is simply brilliant and is an art that many makers nowadays fail to deliver - most recent Toyotas get more and more narrow. But the Tanto doesn't seem to be the only Kei car to have made it's way to Germany, the only country without a speed limit. Recently I've seen an Honda S660 being sold from an Honda dealer in nothern Germany and another S660 being imported to Germany from japanese car auction. Also Honda Acty is becoming popular here for fans of the brand. Besides Germany, kei cars seem also be very popular in Pakistan and Russia as overseas parallel import markets.

@@kendelion That's correct. Most popular segments here are compact class and SUVs now. Pickups as Ford Raptor, are by far not as popular as in the US. In Japan it's normal that most cars from Kei Car to LL Vans have FWD/RWD and 4WD available as option. In Germany only few cars outside the SUV world offer 4WD. :)

Now there are Mitsubishi EK X EV and Nissan Sakura - launched in May this year. Probably have higher initial purchase price but running cost should be cheaper. In New Zealand charging our EVs are already a lot cheaper compared to internal combustion engine equivalent models. Servicing our EVs are also cheaper thanks fewer moving parts. Personally the instant torque off electric motors of these two EVs I've mentioned convince me, 0 - 100 kmh on Kei EVs is somewhat similar to 2.0 L non-turbo inline 4s. BTW our EV is NOT a Tesla nor any Japanese eKeis.

My sister bought a Nissan Atlas camper truck, that was imported from Japan by a German company years ago, and she imported here to Sweden, it was very cheap but was very well maintained and in mind condition, it was a very lucky find for us. Compared to my dad's old 80's DAF cargo truck that he used to drive for work, it's tiny! But it's so spacious and well thought inside. We have gone to vacation in various countries in the Atlas :) it's truly an amazing vehicle imo! I really love Japanese cars

Wow! I think it's based off Isuzu which is an expert in trucks and diesel engines! I bet you can still get spare parts for it in case it needed repairs. Long live Nissan Atlas!
