Reminds me of our first pig!!! It all started because we borrowed a pig for the school. They needed a pig for a kiss the pig contest. Americas Funniest Video would have a new winner. My husband and I are 65+ and THOUGHT we were in pretty good shape. We chased this little pig across our property, belly flop tackles and all. We ran across the road, swam down the creek, up a bluff and finally cornered it in the neighbors pasture. Yes, the air was poluted with words my grandsons don't need to know that their grandparents even know! We learned a lot, pigs can scoot through a cattle panel, swim faster than I can run and that we need more aerobic exercise! Enjoy your pigs, they are fun. Ours loved belly rubs and playing with the cats and chickens. She tilled our garden and unearthed untold rocks we missed when tilling. She eventully went to freezer camp and we continued to enjoy her.

adult pigs are extremely smart. I had 3 that were purely pets. Lula, my girl, knew how to open all of the kitchen cabinets. She once slammed the door in my husbands face after he yelled at her. she then proceeded to open a cabinet andd smash 2 ceramic mixing bowls on the tile kitchen floor. moody girl, lol

Thank you for your honesty Jeremiah...I also lost it a bit today because of overwhelming fatigue! The Lord knows your heart, He's merciful and longsuffering! Jess you don't have to cut the holy basil flowers before frost, they turn tissue like when dead and dry. That's when you can harvest the seeds. I grow it in barrels, and just drop the seeds in the fall, and mulch cover over winter. Another great video...p.s. I went to the library and took out books on homesteading, and goats! Still in the dream stage

I'm not a vet, can only go by our experience, we had a rabbit got down, one day fine, next day she was flopping around, for 3 weeks, I syringe fed her dandelions, rabbit feed, plantain, and lambs quarter, ground up with water in the blender, massaged her belly for bowl moment, and exercised her legs, a family member came over, and said they had a dog go the same way, and it was a calcium decency, we picked up Calcium Gluconate from the feed store, its for cows, a diluted (water) amount was given to her over a week time, within a couple days, she was showing great improvement, and by weeks end, she was back on her feet, like I said I'm not a vet, just sharing our experience

I have seen sheep farmers use pool noodles slit length wise. Then vet wraps or tape socks around it. It may help give her legs some support if that is something she needs.

If you don't have a silver spoon buy on at an antique store not too expensive. Buy a gallon of filtered water. In a sterile quart jar fill with water and drop in the spoon fork what ever. In three days you will have colloidal silver an antibiotic you can treat everything on your farm with including the family. Leaving the spoon in longer will make the Brew better but can be used in three days. I have a small dog with pancreatitis I leave the spoon in her water bowl she hasn't had an attack since. I've used it on horses goats chickens you name it. It really works. An ideafor your Chicken coup find a piece of linoleum, carpet stores sell end bolts cheap. Cut to fit coup and throw hay on top. Come time to clean the back side of a rake will slide it out with ease. I normally rake it onto a tarp for the compost pile. I also use it in my Quail pens. The Chickens love to slide the hay around and will redecorate all day. So much fun.

Our pigs got loose too! Luckily, they didn't get as far as yours and it wasn't 3 am. Lol! We have all sorts of stuff stacked around the original pig pen to keep them in: cattle panels, a layer of chicken wire, plywood, unused bee boxes, and tomato cages. It looks pretty rough!

For what it’s worth I’ve noticed my cats don’t like to dig into straw/hay type mulch as much which is another good reason to keep it on the beds. Which is good because I actually want my cats in the garden - I have so many pocket gophers so they help keep those under control too.

Our 250# pig got out and when my husband found him he was a mile down the road, visiting the neighbor's pigs. My hubby came home and told me he was going to put a roap around that 250# pig's neck and drag him home. I told him that physics would dictate that a 250# pig would drag a 190# man anywhere that pig wanted to go. I took an emergency package of hot dogs out of the freezer and told Hubby to go get Pig's attention by chumming him like people do when fishing, and then walk him home. I wish I had a video of the two of them walking down the road, my husband with a huge pig trotting along at his side, being fed bites of hot dogs. Good times!
