One thing that I find incredible about their lives in Yakutia is how often they HAVE TO go outside into the freezing cold just to perform daily routines, like getting food from the cellar (it's undergound, in another building), or collecting drinking water (they have to melt ice), or going to the toilet and taking a shower (it's an outhouse).

Seeing Dimitri do the fist bump with his and your son with the finger movement while pulling away from it afterwards was really something. Even in the Siberian Wilderness, with the internet it tickles me to see that he's aware of such things and does it with his son. Wholesome. There's a lot of good and bad that comes with people consuming the same kind of things online, and it's nice to see the good. I really like how you're utilizing the internet to inform people about your culture, environment, and daily life, and that you're also using it to benefit your family financially and I'm sure also your community. Blessings to you and your family.

I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed that she wasn't "alone". I am 60 and live in a little village in Canada (about 900 people total) and do strictly wood heat, but do have running water and electricity. I have been hand shoveling about 400 feet of driveway plus walking paths the last number of years, but this year am finding it too difficult so am hiring someone so I only need to do the paths. The longest I shoveled in one day was about 14 hours. The snow just kept coming and coming! I also still work. It's a lot all by myself.

Amazing videos! It's incredible how adaptable human beings are, to be able to live in such extremes. On a much less grand scale, I grew up in the Northwest of England, winters averaged 2-3c usually, a bad winter was -1c and a slight sprinkling of snow, that never really stuck. One winter, I moved to Scotland - and even at that short distance apart, the difference in weather, and how the body copes with it, was astonishing. Temperatures down to -13c, feet of snow (usually just several inches but I moved just before two consecutive bad winters hit) and winter weather in general, was longer than in England. I seriously struggled. I was in my twenties and developed chilblains - the doctor I saw told me she had never seen them 'in person' before. My lungs burnt and ached just breathing in the cold air. It took me about 5 years/winters how to cope better, but also until my body just got used to the difference in climate. How on earth these people do it, I'll never know. Major respect to them.

These people are amazing!! What talent to make all those flutes. I like how he said each one is unique because it is handmade. That's a bit like people. We are all handmade by God.❤ from Australia 🇦🇺

Wow, those flutes are incredible. I wonder how long it takes him to make one. It's funny I hate winter(I am disabled, and cold is very painful for my joints), but I appreciate the beauty there. I couldn't survive it, but it's incredible to see how people live in such a cold climate, and see what all we take for granted. Living in the midwest is nothing compared to there.

I live here in North India and we have around 2-2.5 months of chilled winters and it really gets difficult with falling temperature.Kudos to the people who have to survive in -70 and still cherish their lives without complaining .❤️from 🇮🇳

Hi Kiun. Thank you for these lovely videos. I just want to say that it’s very nice of you to include western references in your videos. In my opinion though, the reason why so many of us are attracted to videos like this is because they show us a different and more pure life. Спасибо 🙏🏼

Thank you for yet another wonderful video, Kiun! Would you be able to do a video on the family dynamics in this culture? You've mentioned that the population/community is quite small and close-knit, so does this mean families are all related either immediately or distantly?

Probably travel to distant villages when they are marrying age and I won’t be surprised if people check to make sure they are not close relatives (or not relatives at all if possible) before becoming serious.

And to think people were talking shit when Texas had that freeze a couple years ago... If you're used to the cold weather and have made preparations beforehand, then you're fine, but I come from a place that doesn't snow and all the sudden you've got snow, no one knows how to react, the power grid goes down, since you didn't have trucks to move the snow off of the road and throw salt on the ground, it kind of screws the entire state.
