This is really unfair. You asked personal questions. This is where you are being mean and rude. This interview was years ago and you are making it about you because she's doing a new princess diaries. I know journalists. I was one and my father was one. You are no different. You don't care who you hurt as long as you spin your truth. No integrity.

I think you should realise you are singlehandedly changing the game with how celebrities are going to treat journalists now 😂 I think actually you're going to find the opposite effect where instead of being rude they are going to be kissing your butt cause everyone is so afraid of being cancelled.. which unfortunately isn't very genuine either but at least they are not looking down on you cause they know you hold power too. Although I wish people can just forget about power dynamics and just be nice for the sake of being nice

Completely agree with this. I think a lot of celebrities are put on the spot and asked to put all their deepest thoughts out there, and some things you do want to keep close to your chest. And yeah first crush might seem harmless (although you never know), but especially the other question about how we love is actually realllly deep. And I feel like as a celebrity if you say even the slightest thing wrong, people will rip you apart for it, so I can see why sometimes they would just keep a response simple.

People do jobs with lot less comfort than these people, a celebrity of the caliber of Anne Hathaway has all the comfort to be able to go through junkets people out there doing other jobs do not have the same luck and have to pull through. So no, being impolite and rude is not an excuse to tiredness, they are doing a job, it is in their contract. Anne’s behavior wasn’t ok, it is not only “the singing” is the way she communicated it and behaved. As the interviewer explained they are also doing a job, magazines can reject an interview if they are not interesting enough, that means no money for the journalist. So there is that as well, if you don’t wanna sing handle it professionally.

i am a die hard feminist but i don't feel like it's applicable here to say that it's a case of a woman saying no when she doesn't want to do something, because we usually say it when women are expected to do certain things or to act a certain way specifically because they're women while men wouldn't be expected to do the same. and it certainly cannot excuse rudeness. i actually really like your guess, i didn't know she was critisized a lot so it seems very likely that that was (ppart of?) the reason for her behavior there. but still her demonstrative dismissiveness of the interviewer was unprofessional at best, she literally looked like she hated her and was trying to make it super clear and refused to answer very neutral and quite interesting questions which was her job.

If Anne had agreed to work in this film and promote it, she had made a decision as an adult that she needed to respect. If she couldn't fulfill that commitment, she should have missed the interview. Calling the attitude of rude and entitled women acceptable in the name of feminism is not okay. There are ways to not answer a question. Taking out your stress on people who're only doing their jobs is definitely not feminist. She wouldn't have responded this way to a colleague of hers.

To be fair you were interviewing a bunch of heavy hitters in one day: Hugh, Russell, Anne, Amanda, Eddie. I thought Russell sang really well in his response to you. I liked his character and the rough, gritty singing voice. It suited his character. I can see why Anne would be somewhat annoyed with those interview questions. Her part in the movie was sooo much more than just about “love”. She was the epitome of the harshness of patriarchal society and the class system towards women. She was just trying to make ends meet and she was fired from her factory job, had to sell off her hair, outcast by society because she was a single mother… Her boss was manipulative and cruel and using her sexually. Her character was so tragically flawed by the system. Then she died due to poverty and sickness. Not only that, she sang the most beautiful raw and emotional performance of “I Have a Dream” that I have ever listened to. Whenever I watch that clip/performance, I cry. I cried in the movie theater for Pete’s sake. It was beautiful. But then to ask her about love back in that day and her first crush… it sounded a little ill prepared. :/

Ok, Blake Lively and Parker Posey acted like total brats and they got what they deserved by being exposed. It felt fair. I say that even tho I always loved Parker as an actress and felt dispappointed seeing her treating you the way they did. But this time, with Anne Hathaway.. sorry but its no big deal, maybe she was just having a bad day, she did not sound rude, just cold, just not having it. It feels like that you are trying really hard to have a revenge on people that disapppointed you personnally. Yes, you also show good interviews from nice celebrities but after a while, it looks a little eye catching.

Right? I am addicted to this channel at this point- speaking as a person that has *never* found themselves giving a single heck about celebrity interviews before (because we all know interviews are part of the celeb job and they have to be in character). It is so nice to see they are merely humans and can’t act perfect forever- I’m so sick of the fake perfection, and I love seeing people act like actual people. I started watching her channel because it broke my heart the way she was spoken down to, but now I’m actually obsessed with seeing how human everyone is with Kjersti- good bad and ugly. Kjersti just keeps being herself and has a knack to be so real with the people she interviews that they seem to feel comfortable enough let their own selves out too. Watching people be real is *actually* so much more entertaining than all the prescribed scripted stuff we’ve all seen before. The transparency is SO refreshing. We all have bad days and show our worst selves sometimes, and it is so ridiculous to pretend anyone deserves to be on a pedestal. Humans are humans, nobody is perfect. It’s amazing how much grace she exudes even in the most awkward moments. She just keeps trucking on and I actually look up to her fearlessness. This woman is a badass!

I have to be honest, if you want the people you're interviewing to treat you like a human being, you have to do the same thing too. They're not puppets in your puppet show. Asking someone to sing their answers is very extreme in my opinion, even related to Les Mis. You might not see anything wrong with it but you also have to consider the context of the situation. These people might have been doing 9 hours of interviews that day, maybe even for a few days, on top of that they're not robots - they have feelings too, you never know if one of their family members is sick or if they just broke up with their partners etc. Yes Blake Lively was plain rude and dismissive, Anne just didn't feel like she was having it. But she still treeated you with respect. It would also be helpful if you showed the whole interview, because just using little snippets give us no insights to what happened in the rest of the interview, the way she acted and the way you acted. I'm not saying you did, but if you pushed into that narrative when she already expressed a boundary I would understand why she shut down too.

I would actually be similar to Anne if I were interviewed because you have the freedom to show up the way you want to. Interviewers don't get enough sit down time with the actor before the interview starts to know how they might feel about the questions they are going to ask. They get rushed in and then the questions start. Most of Hathaway's costars said they'd be willing to sing the answers so there was zero reason for the interviewer to suspect that Hathaway would be completely against the idea. That's the point of asking. As for the other questions, albeit maybe ridiculous, if Hathaway's other costars are answering these same questions with more insight, again why would the interviewer suspect that Hathaway wouldn't do the same? If the other costars are willing to answer the questions w/ more thoughtful responses, I'd expect Hathaway to do the same.

To use Anne's words: No. She was paid 10 million dollars for this role, and giving interviews is part of the job. Even if she was annoyed by Kirsti's first joke, it doesn't change the fact that she still shut down all further attempts at conversation and was outwardly hostile. When i'm frustrated at work, I don't take it as an excuse to slack off and be rude to clients - and I'm barely paid above minimum wage! Once again - she was given more money than either of us will ever see in our lifetime for this role alone, and for barely a fraction of the work. Putting aside being a kind and decent person - the least she can do is to do her job. Besides, I can pretty much guarantee that her team had read and preapproved these questions beforehand. As far as journalist's fishing for 'interesting moments' goes, this is one of the mildest versions i've seen - and even if it wasn't, who cares? One more time: Her job, which she got paid 10 million dollars for, includes navigating these very expected scenarios politely and professionally.

I've never gotten genuine good vibes from Anne Hathaway when I see her in interviews or on talk shows. She seems like so much work and even her niceness seems affected. She was in our city filming Broke Back Mountain years ago and the crew didn't care for her. I didn't work on that particular film but someone I know said she was pissed off because some young girls who were huge fans of The Princess Diaries came round hoping to get autographs and she demanded that they be kept away from her. I heard she was trying to distance herself from her former good-girl Disney image and wanted to be taken seriously as an actor but anyone who would be that ungracious toward young kids is kind of an a-hole in my books.

I evaluate 6-7 ppl per day for many years.... what I found is that 'reading the room' helps. Be mindful of their mood and condition at that time and be empathetic and they will be Ok.
