That wine faux leather jacket looks fantastic on you! I was wonder why I was seeing so much stretch faux leather and glad to see what kind of pattern you used for it. Thanks!

Dorothy, you sew so beautiful. It looks like you bought the clothes instead of sewing them. I love how you go in depth about different fabrics. Please don't stop teaching us. Your wonderful. And your really good at you tube. Happy Sewing

I love shopping for fabrics but mainly for knits. I first look at the prints and then choose the pick-a-knit for its stretch. It was helpful to know which knit fabrics to work with when making a romper, so the knees don't stick out and the neckline lies flat. As a beginner, this isn't easy to sew with. Thanks for your helpful tips and lesson. Happy sewing

Love your videos Kim, so clear and easy to follow. My Bernina 830 (was my mother-in-law’s) 1974 has been a real workhorse but the plastic cover is now brittle so going to a machine shop Birmingham (UK) Frank Knutt to look at sewing machines tomorrow. Will be big chance going from a mechanical machine to computerised - so difficult to decide which one.

Could you do one on rotary cutters and what blades are the best. I have not had good experiences using them the blades don't cut.

Thanks Kim. Just discovered your channel and am enjoying it and learning a lot. Would you consider videos on adding sleeves to sleeveless tops/dresses and/or how to make adjustments for gaping at the neckline. Thank you.

Thanks for the information. I, too, have cut myself on an open rotary blade--it was my fault. It seems like everyone ought to know, however, a beginner might not, that a rotary cutter needs a mat underneath.

Susan Lindman good point! I totally cruised over that, and I should have mentioned it. Thank you! ❤️

What type of fabric did you use for the pink cardigan? I don’t think you mentioned it in the video. Thank you!

All good information. I recently cut myself in a rotary cutter and I attest to how easy it is to do accidentally. Also as a note the subscriber button request at the end of the video was very distracting. Maybe just have it pop up once. Not over and over. 👍🏻

Thanks Dorothy... Wash knits in warm water to shrink first before cutting pattern, wash in cold water forever afterwards. Dryer ?... partially dry in dryer and then lay flat? I have to tell you as a new sewer, all this is terrifying. Mistakes cost money and heartache.
@dorothysdaughtersews4 жыл бұрын
Momzilla I dry them on warm in the dryer when I prewash. After it’s a garment, I put things in the dryer for a brief 1-5 min in warm, the. Either hang or lay flat to dry, depending on the fabric.

Kim I taught music in the school system for 31 years. I’m an experienced sewist but knits are not something I know much about. Looking forward to learning more. How do you store all the things that you make for yourself?

I am constantly cleaning my closet. I try to sew things I actually need. Granted, some of what I sew is for pattern testing or a review. I try only to sign up for those I actually want to wear or give. Lately, I’ve been sewing for my family a bit more. Thanks for watching!
