Trading CP3 would be the wrong move. They need to convince Klay to take a pay cut. Possibly the same deal as Green. Then pickup a young player that can play right away, but can also be taught their system. But, that is all wishful thinking on my end.

The problem with Klay is the same with Harden. They expect to be held in the same outlook as when they were in their prime and they are not anywhere close to it anymore. Harden is slightly worse cause he been team hopping and expect everybody to treat him like Houston. Klay can be considered almost as bad cause he spent two years rehabbing and of course was fully compensated. Both are delusional and alot of basketball players especially the older ones think they are superior because of past glory. These players were compensated during and slightly after that time. I understand that guys wanna be paid but to expect maximum compensation for below their average stats.

So true. He's barely a competent starter right now. I'm sure he might stop pressing and look better and average around 18ppg but that's all he does, no contribution playmaking and he's got no D in the 3 and D....... Harden is a much more valuable player than Klay at this time though..... People are starting to underrate Harden. No he's not max but he's worth $20 mil a year on a two year deal used correctly

@@Nomad7222 Harden is as unreliable as he has ever been. Plus he was never as accomplished enough to be the system he claims to be. I actually believe if Harden had a secondary role in his career to a true elite franchise player he would have won a chip by now. But he always wanted to be the man which is why he never fulfilled his potential. I don't believe he really cared about winning a chip that much cause he has been in situations that were beneficial to him but he never sought to get past his personal conflicts within. Klay isn't all out bad but he is bad compared to his previous self. His fault is his unwillingness to accept the fact he is no longer worth a max contract but neither him or Harden are worth either think they are worth in their own heads.

Every story I see like this makes me appreciate my years watching Timmy, Manu, and Tony. It's best for the team for Manu to come off the bench, guess what, he comes off the bench. Tim Duncan wants to win more than anything, so, he takes a below market value contract to free up money so the team can surround him with talent and get that fifth ring. As much as I'm a loyalty guy, there's no way Klay gets 5 years and a quarter billion dollars. He has to know that's bad for the team and not what he's currently worth.

Both are costing the warriors massive opproetunies to win and Steph seems to be the only one getting better with age. If both care about their team they should take pay cuts to bring in more newer all players who they can teach their system too to eventually take over for the three of them cause right now those two are sucking up a lot of the cap space and really not worth what they are getting paid anymore.

@@JaRa911 sorry guys but I’ve lived in San Antonio my entire life. I’m in my early 30’s. I stand by what I said but I’ll clarify since I didn’t make myself clear lol Kevin Durant has more skill than Tim Duncan. Duncan was Mr. Fundamental. He was perfect at the basics. KD is the same size as Duncan but can dribble like a guard and is arguably the greatest pure shooter ever. KD is certainly in that discussion Go back and read the original comment that I replied to. He was complimenting the spurs longevity and success for 20+ years without egos and salaries destroying the team internally like it seems the Warriors are going thru the past two years after their most recent championship. I’d compare Duncan to Curry well before I compare him to Durant. Duncan did far more in his career than KD will ever accomplish even tho KD is more skilled and talented. Klay and Draymond are like Parker and Ginobili except for the egos. And once Parker wasn’t worth the money, the spurs let him walk in free agency to the hornets. Ok… with all that cleared up… the Spurs never had a single player as talented as KD that joined their core group of guys in Duncan, Parker, and Ginobil. Maybe you could argue Kawhi but he was drafted and molded by the spurs.

Klay doesn't get enough respect for coming back the way he did from those injuries. But NBA players also seem extremely delusional about how business and value work. Warriors can decide to reward Klay with a big contract, it may not be a max but will be quite significant. But by doing so, their hands a tied and they can’t assemble a strong contender around Steph Curry, who seems to still be in his prime. By not being a strong contender, they will just waste away Steph Curry’s prowess and just fade away. They won’t at all be bad for the lottery but won’t be good enough to be strong challengers. The dilemma is; do they want more championships when Steph is still great or just ride along with the big 3 until they retire?

Kind of some revisionist history there. Klay didn't really help the Warriors much in winning their fourth championship, coming off of his injuries. He was, objectively, not a very good player in that postseason. Just because his team won the ring, doesn't mean we have to pretend that he played way better than what he actually did. Nothing against him, and the injuries obviously sucks, but we're not going to just make up stats for him.

I don't know how Warriors fans feel about this. What I do know is that it probably is time to break up the big 3 in Golden State. The offense has gotten stale and Klay Thompson just isn't himself anymore. Nobody is going to max him other than maybe Golden State. So to me, better to trade him for Zach Lavine than have Klay walk in July towards a new team. The Bulls need to reset the look of their team. I don't know if the salaries match up on a one for one deal or not. If they don't, I am sure they can figure it out. Zach Lavine offers a faster pace and more youth in his legs. He is a good scorer. As a second or third option in the Warriors system, he would put enough youth into it to make it functional the way it was just a couple of years ago. Sure they won't have as good of a perimeter game if they moved from Klay to Zach. What they do get though is someone more athletic who can get the ball out on the break and dunk with the best of them. What they do get is a faster pace that opens up more shooting opportunities for Steph Curry to have open looks. Right now, they can't keep up with teams like the Pacers and Kings. 2 teams playing really fast pace, nearly showtime era Lakers basketball. The Warriors can outshoot anyone. But, Klay has Clearly lost a step and isn't as explosive as he once was. I don't see Chris Paul as the problem.

In almost every team sport each member of the team has a role to play for the success of the team. Steph - doing his role 90% of the time. Still too many careless turnovers at times. Some of the fouls are questionable at times. I heard clips of him talking to the guy about what needs to be done to secure the win. Sadly, it was not done. Hmmm. Draymond- supposed to have a great basketball mind. The last two years it seems like he has lost his mind. His behavior and lack of remorse damages the team more than help. He needs to stick to what he is said to be great at. After all it is he is suppose to do. He said he is the greatest defender or one of them. Steph is getting more rebounds than him. Lebron was told to shut up and dribble. Draymond needs to play ball and cut out the nonsense. It this why they gave him his new contract. Klay - plays for himself. Always did, it is only showing up now because he is not scoring as he use to. He needs to find other ways to help the team. Take his head out of the ground and just play the game. If you don’t have the shot pass the ball and cut. Wiggins - you can see he is trying but needs to work on his conditioning. He has the ability to get to the hoop. He should be doing that more and when he gets to the line. Make teams pay for fouling him. CP 3 is doing as expected. Good leadership when on the court. He needs to help the young guys shine so bright Kerr has no choice but to use them. Looney- I know he had hip issues at the beginning of his career. He should still be a better threat at the rim based on the passes he gets. The only problem I see with the young guys is that they need playing time. They will make errors just like the main guys. But their heart and fearlessness will win more ganes than sitting and watching old men struggling. Kerr - all I will say and have always said. He is the main reason the Warriors are not winning as many games as they should. He just can not coach. No one ever challenges him about his crazy decisions. The media just let him talk the same garbage over and over. So far this season, he has praised every young guy in the team. Promised they will play. Two players got hurt last night. Still no Davis, no Brendan. In the fourth quarter Moody was the one keeping them in the game. Klay as everyone here pointed out was struggling. But who did Kerr sub and brought back a tired Wiggins. Warrior played the second half of the game, like the team that needed to catch up. Bad shot selction and timing. Unforced turnovers. Stupid fouls. The tech. You mame it. It is the coach's job to get the team to settle down he wasted too many time-outs earlier in the game. Then when he needed one, he had none. Any other coach in the NBA would have won that game. Smh poor, poor, poor.

Steph's weakness is that when the teammates can't get anything going. It makes his job more difficult. The man is getting double teamed and in a trap like the days before KD showed up. It's crazy how the years KD was there, Steph had free reign because they couldn't double him. Klay being #3 made his job easier too

Totally agree Kerr needs to play Moody and Kuminga 30+ minutes a game and let them make mistakes. They okay with fire and heart and compete. Their trade value is only so low not because of their talent but their lack of playing any regular season important minutes

Klay is a classic case of Robin Hood thinking he could be Batman. He always talked a bit bigger than he should and it never really looked or sounded right. You can really see that in the way he responded. He never knew his place and overestimated himself as superstar material when he was always just a good second option to Steph.

As a looooong time Warrior fan, I watched them win in 1975, after trading Nate the great Thurmond. Any Warrior can and should be trade to better the team. Wilt was traded, Mulllin was traded. How are any Warrior not be tradable? As aways, it's who they get back in that trade that matters.

Check one two break. All you need to do is review the tape of last night's game on NBA Pass, pick the visitor's camera angle. It follows Curry unless he subbed out then it follows Klay. There wasn't much movement when it was following Klay, and he is wide open a lot. They played the Kings in a must-win for the in-season tournament, the team didn't pass to Klay when he was open. Last shot of the game Klay is wide open easy pass for Curry to do a catch and shoot, Curry opted to take a tough shot over giving Klay the ball. Neither the defense nor the offense seem to respect what he is doing. Based on the lack of movement and that he Ices the knees on subouts I gotta believe his legs are not there anymore. That is why his shot percentage is down and his overall effectiveness on both sides of the ball are down. Unfortunately for Klay his confidence is going to be the dagger, he clearly belives we owe it to him to figure it out. I don't think his ego will allow a come-off-the-bench type of player which probably means it is time to move on.

That team is screwed. They are keeping aging talent that is clearly not getting better (except for Steph, but he can't win games by himself), they cant develop talent because the older guys take up the minutes, the air and the chemistry, their coach doesn't seem to have much of a backbone, and they have no salary room to work with. Don't expect much from them for the next 2 to 3 years, because that's how long they will hold onto Klay, Loony, and Draymond.

Trade klay or let him walk that’s what the warriors should do is not the same player and he got his bag already. I would just make klay take a pay cut like a 2 year deal or 1 year something like that.

They don't have the balls to trade Klay and trading CP3 doesn't even make sense tbh. I feel they'll look to trade Wiggins which would be dumb on so many levels because at least he plays good defense. Klay should be the one to be moved don't see it happening tho. Moody has been out playing Kuminga so they're probably thinking about getting rid of him as well. I'm not so sold on LaVine I'd rather they get a much needed big Myles Turner from Indiana comes to mind. I don't know how the contract part works but Myles Turner and Buddy Hield for Klay, Kuminga, GP2 and picks. Doubt that's enough for both of them so maybe just Myles Turner. 🤷

I keep having this reoccurring waking nightmare that somehow, someway, my Mavericks are going to end up with Draymond Green. It's completely irrational, of course. All world off-season? I kept up with what happened. The Warriors traded assets for a non-asset in Chris Paul. Someone they'd have to pay 30m a year plus another 60m in luxury taxes. And if they want to trade him away, they have to trade more assets to pay someone else to pay Paul. Otherwise, the Warriors got older. That was supposed to be fine for Kuminga and Moody, but only Moody can hit the broad side of a barn. Meanwhile, Thompson is old and Wiggins apparently didn't practice shooting all summer. All world off-season. Suspend credibility.

Klay is a small problem, the big problem is Draymond Green, I think they needed to get rid of him last year before they paid him. After things settled down from the punch would have been a great time. He always was a hot head that couldn't control his emotions and as he's aged, the juice just isn't worth the squeeze. So yeah, they'll probably have to blow things up at some point. I know it's crazy but I don't think they have another run in them, so I think you blow it all up now, including Steph and get a boatload of assets and start your rebuild now before you can't do it later. Let Steph go compete for a championship with his few years left.

There is only one solution for the Klay Thompson problem: Put him in another uniform before the All Star Weekend. He isn't going to get anywhere near what he wants at the end of this season, for nowhere near the years he wants and probably has already begun his decline into old age never to recover his past productivity. Plus, the Dubs don't need him to "return to form," as they already have players on the bench who, when paired with CP3 and ageless Steph Curry as starters, can be as or more productive than Klay has been in the past 2 seasons. He is at maximum trade value right now, but if his skills -which already are limited to "catch and shoot and near zero defense - continue to erode as a starter for all the world to see, he will have minimum swap value by the time the Dubs realize they should have let him go way before that decision was finally made. The Dubs are in a very difficult position - still with the personnel to contend for a championship but, with Klay, Dray and Curry, maybe have a year or two left on the clock, they simultaneously have to start rebuilding. Fortunately, their bench is loaded with future starters and stars, but working them into a complicated system takes time and the more time and the more minutes the future stars on the bench can play, the faster they will learn the system and mature - and compensate for Klay's absence, which is not so difficult these days. Sorry, KT, I love you, but business is business and, if you want to continue to lace them up for a few more years, you gotta go...and you gotta go now.
