Salvador's clearly a great kicker, but he chose to focus on high guard + punch from the very start. And fancy boxing footwork. Buakaw isn't known for his hands, so this seems to be a pretty good strategy for Salvador in theory. Buakaw skipped that game entirely via the Muay Khao style: knees under Salvador's high guard and kicks. Buakaw's primary defense seemed to be long guard, which worked out well, since Salvador hardly threw kicks. To any MT guys out there, does that analysis seem about right?

That's actually the only way you can win to buakaw, with hands.. But difficult to closed distance to punch buakaw he know how to keep you at distance with teep game, long guard etc and every time a boxer try to engage with hands he kicks the legs so you cannot use you're full power, the long guard is good but if you master boxing skills attack from angles you can counter it

Buakaw is very good but you should checkout some legends of the golden age In Thailand Buakaw was never ranked number one in the stadiums and he got his fame from fighting in k1 Saenchai is technically on another level than buakaw and he won multiple stadium championships Both are only more famous worldwide than other Thai legends because they fight more abroad

I understand the sportsmanship. But this was a Title Fight. I'm one of Buakaw's Biggest fan's, but I can't see 30-28 in any round... never mind 2-3 of them. This was a poorly scored match, and I hate to see it because I've seen Buakaw on the receiving end of a bad decision too and it sucks for any fighter. But I'm not so sure about this one... Muay Thai rules and scoring... I can see the clinch going to Buakaw, But 2 power switch kicks, and a reverse sweep from Dylan scores big in MT and he gets 28's? ehhhhhh
