This is HANDS DOWN the BEST ASL teaching program I have EVER learned from. Meredith is an amazing educator. She is easy to understand, is NOT 'long-winded' like the British guy she sometimes collab's with. 🙄That dude takes FOREVER to say the simplest things. And, the production quality IS impeccable! So, Good Job, Husband! I look forward to learning everything I can from you. Thank you for giving so much of your time, energy, and sharing your teaching gifts with us. Mahalo

We r still here learning it all we can. Brody is doing great for not living or being of non speaking or hearing community but he is using it to talk to us. He is trying to use his words with his mouth but he is doing signing more and I am so proud of him and his daddy for joining just because he saw an opportunity to do something his son loves

Hi! Thank you for these lessons. Quick question, how do you differentiate “1” to “understand “?
@LearnHowtoSign3 жыл бұрын
Great question! Understand flicks up towards the head (think of a light bulb turning on) and it is typically signed with a head nod. 1 is just 1 with no movement and is located in just in front of the signers body. Hope that helps.

Hello! I am a pharmacy student learning ASL for conversations with patients. Thank you for your efforts! I notice you sort of move your hand in a circular motion when fingerspelling ASL. Is there a reason and is it necessary to do this when fingerspelling? Thank you!

As a Deaf person, I feel deeply hurt and frustrated seeing hearing creators profit off ASL-a language that comes from our culture and experiences-without giving back to the Deaf community. ASL is more than just signs; it’s tied to our identity, history, and values. It’s important for everyone to recognize that learning ASL should come from Deaf educators who truly understand and live the language. Please consider supporting Deaf creators who are the rightful stewards of ASL and its cultural significance.

Sign for "Mine"?
@merp88333 жыл бұрын
The word "mine" would be just like signing I or Me, but because it's possessive, you would put your palm to your chest instead of using your finger.
@lolabaker81973 жыл бұрын
If I wanted to sign don’t understand...couldn’t I do the sign for don’t then the sign for understand? Or is it only the negation of understand?
@LearnHowtoSign3 жыл бұрын
Technically you could but it wouldn't be true ASL. To stay true to ASL signs and structure it could need the negation of don't-understand as one sign.
@lolabaker81973 жыл бұрын
Thanks you for responding!!! Your channel in INCREDIBLE and it is probably the most helpful and organized tool to help me learn ASL!

isnt is rude to say asl is meant for deaf people? mute people, autistic people and people with speech problems can use sign language too. Or people who just want to learn a new language in general.

Your videos are not captioned for Deaf people watching. I am Deaf and I teach ASL without talking in English as don't need to hear English to learn or teach ASL.
@LearnHowtoSign3 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. If you already know Polish Sign Language, I would suggest trying ASL and see if that would be beneficial in your area.
