I'm new to y'all's channel and I love what you're doing. The KLH-Wharfedale-Linton side-by-side is top-tier work, perhaps the most persuasive audio review I've ever seen on YT. But I have a bit of a dilemma: I live in Phnom Penh Cambodia where the selection is pretty-much nil, and so I'm traveling to Bangkok in a couple of weeks ... for a SINGLE DAY. I can't audition everything on offer over there, so I'm trying to narrow the field as best I can before I go, and I'm confused about two data points in your assessment of the KLH Model 5. On the one hand, the marks you gave it (in both videos) for low-volume performance is a HUGE plus for me. I'm too old for speakers that need 90dB to wake up. But on the other hand, you said that they're best-suited to medium and large-sized rooms, and that makes me nervous. My room is 360cm across the front and 600cm deep -- which ain't huge -- but worse than that, it's Cambodia so the whole thing is poured concrete. I'm worried that the bass from these is going to overload the room and produce an imbalanced sound. FWIW, I listen almost exclusively to jazz piano trios and quartets, and romantic-era classical orchestrations such as by Brahms and Schumann, at low-to-very-low volumes, with a lot of off-axis listening and wandering around. The aim here is for a cohesive, companionable sound. Nothing with big slam or aggressively microphonic detail extraction. I want to hear the music, not the equipment. Source is a Hiby R4 DAP and the amplifier for now is the small but improbably good SMSL AO-300, with plans to step up to a HiFi Rose RA-280 in about six months after someone else has paid for the depreciation. Speaker placement is pretty-much fixed at 90cm from the front and side walls, and both ends of the room have full-length floor-to-ceiling curtains, the front one of which conceals a glass French-door installation to a balcony, and the rear one of which conceals a pass-through to the kitchen. Are these still, with that information, a good audition candidate? What other speakers that you guys have heard spring to mind?

Which amplifier and DAC did you use for KLH Model 5?
@Hifyed
@Hifyed Жыл бұрын
The company is called orelle it’s on of our reference amps. We use it as I know it very well as I worked for that company many years ago. For the dac/streamer we used a NAD 658.

I notice you have the speakers out front, but they are designed to be closer to the back wall. If you do that, then you might not need to move your preferred seating spot back (or back as much as suggested in this review).

I think the most important thing with reviews of HiFi equipment: partnering equipment and comparisons. Something to maybe consider, but channel is coming along nicely good work

Hi guys. Only point of contention with your reviews, you should disclose that you are audio dealers. As you're posting these videos, I'll leave it you to disclose the name and location of the store. And it would be nice to state your complete reference system. I'm not saying your points, opinions, and observations are not valid. In fact, very time I've visited the store I've never NOT heard good (and sometimes eclectic) tunes and great sound. As I haven't watched all your videos but have you made any PSA/educational vids concerning much of the jargon being used by yourselves and others. I have 40 years into this hobby and understanding the jargon is one of the primary steps people ought to know so they can get the best from your videos. Keep up the good work .

Thank you! I’m not sure if you know however I have taken a step back from retail and stepped down as a sales manager and only acting as consultant to my long term clients. I have worked in manufacturing, distribution and retail for over 25yrs in audio and my goal of this channel is to share my experience and take on products. Although it has been fun to take a step back from retail it looks like I’m getting pulled back and Im staring to miss it. I will announce my decision in 2023. My goal is to not to use this channel to be used as a marketing platform to promote sales to the store. That’s why I don’t ever mention it. We also review products that we don’t carry and I want my friends/manufactures in the industry to know I will be fair. This has also caused problems the other way around. Any negative feedback we have given to a product that is carried by the store they really give me a hard time. That’s what happens when you make to many fiends in the industry 😉 Thanks again for your feedback!

@@Hifyed Hi. Sorry if it seemed as though I was overstepping. As I said, I've found the observations, etc to be accurate. Also I appreciate your willingness to disclose, but your reasons perhaps for not doing so. Whatever you (Kurt?) decide to do in the new year, I wish you nothing but the best. Take care
