@@paulmoffat9306 That had nothing to do with why they did what they did. People have this delusion in their head that CBS/Paramount were threatened by Axanar. They weren't. Alec Peters kept dogging them. 1. He was selling model kits, patches, shirts, coffee, etc which was completely at odds with the idea of the fan film community. No other fan film production SOLD merch. Even behind the idea of "perks" they still weren't doing that. Nobody on other fan films was taking a paycheck. Alec and his wife were. 2. He kept ragging on the current Trek being produced. Going on podcasts and radio shows and just slamming CBS/Paramount and telling people that HE was making REAL Star Trek. 3. He kept demanding that CBs/Paramount release GUIDELINES for Star Trek Fan films. Something which fan films had operated without for nearly two decades. Alec is the one that caused the restrictions to fall onto fan films. And the reality is, the restrictions probably aren't binding to anyone, except those like Alec Peters who try to turn Star Trek into their own empire.

I have been watching the various Axanar videos for years now and only just realised something. The older Starfleet ships - those that predate the Ares - largely drawn on designs from the 2009 JJAbrams movie but without the ridiculous increases in size. Plus the weapons on those older designs seem to use the same nodding donkey pulse firing phasers from the Kelvin and JJPrise whereas the Ares relies on constant beam phasers similar to the TOS Enterprise. Clever way to show the progress in design and technology.

I am no fan of the JJ films, Discovery, or Picard. BUt in terms of content, no, i've read the Axanar script. It's dreadful. I mean, it's fine, if all you want is space ship battles. Alec Peters wrote Garth, essentially, no differently than Michael Burnham. Flawless as far as the story is concerned. Almost no self reflection, never makes a mistake, wins every battle. He's the bestest thing ever. What's sad is he was even told by others, hey... Maybe add some complexity to Garth of Izar, make him more interesting. He told them absolutely not. If all your characters are flat, unchagning characters, and all you have are big space battles... Then what exactly makes Axanar so great? Wrath of khan made every phaser and torpedo hit matter to the plot. It had the weight of 15 years of building revenge for the villain, Kirk facing his age and his crew splitting up, the age of the Enterprise, meeting his son, questioning his life choices, and ultimately losing his best friend. Axanar has none of the kinds of things to elevate it above being just a Mary Sue fan fiction with space battles in it. What really bums me out is that Axanar botches it in a similar way to Discovery, only it's slightly more canonical and less flashy about it. Or, I should say, would have. Neither party really saw what the potential of this Klingon War could have been for Star Trek. It could have been Star Trek's Midway, or Tora Tora Tora! Remember the other aspect of Garth's character from the TOS episode... He was one of the greatest explorers in Federation history. He was the legend before Kirk. There is absolutely NONE of that in the Axanar script. Not any lip service even to the idea. You're being wowed by well produced special effects. They are good effects, but that is all they are. There was no good story in Axanar. Prelude to Axanar was rewritten by the director and the actors to make it as good as it was. Alec denies this, but the proof is in the pudding. I'm going to trust Gossett and Tony Todd over Alec Peters.

You set up a nice visual metaphor of how each side deals with confrontation. The Feds engages directly and works through it's challenges; avoiding and maneuvering through clashes as it can, and taking the blows when neccessary. The Klingons, however, push their way through, with little care for where what they set in motion will land. Bravo.

However, in one of the Axanar teams video there is also an explanation for this battle. The Klingon cruiser is one of the first of its class and those goes to people with connections. In this case an overpromoted, inexperienced young commander of one of the finer houses. It cost the empire dearly. When professionals are set to fight greenhorn it tend to have a brutal outcome. This is why the klingons fell for a trap like that.

You know, most people interpret this song as a mournful dirge for the Klingons' warrior culture. To me, I think it's the Klingons singing that dirge for Humanity. They know that Humanity was once a Warmaker, just as much as they were. If it's one thing we're v e r y good at, it's killing each other, even by Klingon standards. This is why I think they're mourning for us, in this hymn. We chose to hide that part of ourselves away. We got too good at it.

A example of the soul of the Klingon race. A ancient race proud, and honorable, yet a bit of tragedy. A race that was enslaved to those that called themselves gods, They fought to become the proud warrior race, proving they can defeat those that will try to steal or take the freedoms and will of Klingon people to ensure they never again become slaves or oppressed, yet in their desire and will to conquer the Federation a super power that who's influence bleeds to throughout the borders of the Empire, one wonders have the Klingon's become the very gods they defeated in ages past? Have they become that which they have long feared?

This was the best Trek made in years. Even not fully realized, the ideas and characters, ships and visuals seen in Prelude to Axanar and clips of the uncompleted film show something truly special. This is the kind of Trek so many fans want and have craved. This is the Trek we have been denied by the stupidity and incompetence of those in charge of Trek at CBS/PARAMOUNT, whom continue down the wrong path with the likes of Kurtzman! Even renewing his contract?????!!!!! They continue to try and force feed fans their watered down woke Trek. They will, apparently, never learn! I now completely ignore anything they release, and devote my time and resources to the fandom of other sci-fi that does not rudely and offensively ignore it's fandom. I have loved Star Trek for most of my 53 years. Unfortunately, as far as I am concerned today, Trek is dead. Whether it ever rises again is up to the wisdom, or lack thereof, of its handlers. I have lost my patience with them, and will certainly not, after so many consecutive poor decisions on their part, hold my breath. It will take something quite extraordinary, and a return to Trek's original roots, to win me back. I am quite confident many, many others feel the same. CBS/PARAMOUNT continue their media campaign claiming Nu Drek is wonderful and everyone loves it. Ah, yeah.............😅

I was there the night this was recorded. It was a great session. My concept for this hymn as the director and co-writer of the Axanar feature was as a theme to accompany a subplot for Klingon commander Kharn in which he is plagued by visions of the fall of the empire. Alex Bornstein composed this beautiful hymn and the vocalists crushed it. What might have been. But again, I assure you, CBS/P was not to blame. The reason why there is no Axanar feature falls completely on Alec Peters. He controlled the money, and there is no one else responsible but him. I was there from day one and saw the whole disaster unfold.

*THIS.* This is why CBS hates AXANAR. It was something made by people who loved the real STAR TREK, and it shows with every frame, with every line and sound... body and soul. Network execs don't understand ANY of that. They never really have. I don't think they're even capable of understanding it. To them, STAR TREK is just a commodity, something to be milked for all it's worth and then discarded. The typical short-term mindset that's so very prevalent in our society. I've been a fan of the original show and its direct spin-off series for fifty years. But who's going to remember this Nouveau-Trek shit fifty years from now? NOBODY.

I return. To bring more views of the Klingons and Terrans. This video gives a hint of the greatness and tragedy of the Klingon People and ironically the Terran's. Perhaps genetically different coming from different worlds. Yet in war they are both equals. Klingon's are born from war. They thrive in it. Countless generations of conflict both internal and external has brought about the greatest warrior race ever seen in the galaxy. They are a proud people who rightfully do have the right to control and determine their fate. Centuries of conflict has honed them into weapons able to do battle with other races some technologically advanced others warlike yet they have defeated all known and unknown opponents. There culture indeed is a monument to the Art of War. Even their ships reflect this proud yet tragic history. A race that never knew true peace and never was given the chance to grow naturally and was thrust early in its history to fight those that invaded them cementing their fate. A ancient race that never forgot its past and lives to never repeat it, yet risk becoming what they defeated centuries past. The Terran's on the other hand has survived as a race for 200000 years as the remaining Human Species on Earth and has probably spent 10000 to 20000 years of it in conflict if growing archeological evidence proves true. Not faced with the same issues the Klingon's supposedly faced or suffered multiple civilization collapse that has since drifted into legend and myth. Terran's has slowly but steadily mastered the Art of War. Unlike the Klingon's which unified early in their history to a single threat the Terran's has remained separate civilizations, separate nations and has waged war upon its self for centuries, enjoying times of peace and knowledge. This has resulted in a race that has learned the concept of Total War. To quickly eliminate its opponents, to adapt, to them, To kill them efficiently were more and more disturbingly efficient weapons.. Once some of them were similar to klingons but the days of Honorable combat and warriors has long since passed. The modern Humans have honed their skills of War so much it sickened them and resorted to them to hide this dark side of them until its forced out either by greed, honor, or survival. Its treated as a necessary evil and well the Terran's do speak of great battles and wars its treated both as cautionary yet proud stories and history. From this Terran's have tried to reign in this dark side of them knowing that once its released, there will be no remorse, there will be no chance of pulling it back.. Humans will fight to survive and eliminate who ever tries to harm them and well the Klingon's culture is dedicated to the Art of War it is the Terran's who are its true masters. Look at both the ships. The Klingon Warbird and the Ares. They are the same. One fully embraced of war. The other built out of necessity for war. One built with honor and glory behind it. The other built for survival and to kill. Thus the Terran's tragedy is that no matter how much they try to push peaceful intentions. No matter how far they go. They will always be the masters of war. It will always be there waiting to be embraced for War desires blood and it will always Collect..

That isn't always the case. Being a warrior race doesn't mean a military. The Klingons well being a warrior race, do speak of Klingon Opera's and tales. Sure they have songs like what your talking about. This one however is more of a cautionary song or one of sorrow a warning.. Originally it was meant as a vision for one of the Klingon Leaders as the fall of the Empire. The Vikings themselves also had songs of caution and sorrow. This is one of those types of songs. Giving depth to the Klingons that they are more than just a warrior race. Its something more tragic.

Its those who would put mindless idiotic videos or pictures to get accepted or rich,. Its why a video like this is left with low numbers well a idiot with a tin foil hat or similar can speak or show bs and get thousands of views. Its society. Change society and encourage intelligence.

To them humans are weak, the federation a power bent on expansion and assimilation of other powers via alliances and not strength. Very few in the Empire would bother reading the text and history of humanity. If they had. 1. They either would gain instant respect and a bit of sadness as humanity like them has a warrior's heart but long since tempered. Although I few might try to bring it out. General Chang was one such individual that saw that. And the Klingon in DS9 that was siskos ally saw it as well. Although he would never admit it. 2. A chill and realization that humanity reigns in its true nature and that humanity may indeed be the masters and teachers of the Art of War that the Klingons are fighting not a equal but a superior where the klingons conquer. humanity would extinguish. Where the Klingons might fight for glory or honor, humanity will fight on survival and eliminate its opponent down to the last man.

In Star Trek: Nemesis, a large piece of debris from one of the warbirds strikes the Enterprise, hitting one of the nacelles. On-screen, you see the shield flare just before the impact - then there is a cut shot to a display on the bridge showing the damage to the shield. In ST: Enterprise, at the other end of cannon, when the NX-01 fires "spatial torpedoes" (missiles) at a shielded ship in an early episode, they simply bounce off the deflector shields of the enemy. While most of Star Trek dealt with energy weapons, there is ample evidence that shields can do more than protect against energy threats.

@@robertkreutzer4107 There is an episode in TNG season 3 with the super soldier on the run, his pod is captured by the Enterprise's tractor beam at one point and so he goes to full throttle directly into the Enterprise. This forces the Enterprise's computer to shut off the tractor beam and instantly raise shields, causing the pod to bounce off the shields.

Cause we've only heard those from the ship crews and they tend to be a little off key or because what they have is similar to the old ship songs on Earth and military songs on the march... However you hear of them telling stories of ancient warriors and adventurers, of great halls and feast on the Klingon Home-world's. So its likely some of them had time to make some impressive music. This would be one of those and those from the capital of the Klingon Empire would be different than those told or sung from a Klingon ship. Cause a ship and crew is a arm, tool and weapon of the empire its face, yet its capital its home is its soul and its the soul where the true face of a people are shown.

@@Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent Exactly. Drawing conclusions from what we heard from a battle bridge on a Klingon cruiser would be like judging Earth music based on the jogging cadences of an US infantry platoon.

The Klingons often joke remake reference to great operas on the homeworld. General Chang makes reference of Shakespeare is best heard in original Klingon so plays and operas are. Thing in Klingon culture. Likely based on great epics. What we usually here on the show are closer to ship chantis done for centuries on shipsit would be a big difference hearing songs directly from the homeworld or major colony
