Michael that's what I like about when you do a review you actually review it you don't pick a speaker just because the company sends it to you you actually review it you actually give your honest review of the product and that's probably one of the reasons why companies are sending you products they're realizing that people like me are seeing your videos and deciding if they want to buy the product because not everything can be seen and demo sometimes you have to trust people on KZbin to give you honest opinions of products that you're interested in go by reviews on KZbin and you're one of those reviewers that are trustworthy so keep those honest reviews coming👌

Michael, I couldn’t agree more! Was so inspired by your videos I went down and auditioned the RF7-III, RC64III for myself and bought them. I’ve had them paired with 2 SVS PB16 Ultra subs and RP280F for surrounds. It’s been a few weeks now with the setup and it’s absolutely the best sound I’ve ever had at home!! Hi Youth-man, Another concise and well stated review thank you! Are you going to be reviewing any other speakers? I am interested in reviews by HSU, Power Sound Audio, and would love you to do a review on the Tekton Double Impact. I haven't pulled the trigger on any new upgraded HT speakers as of yet but am considering SVS, Klipsch, HSU, and PSA. Also do you think you will venture in any comparison reviews of DIY speaker systems? I am considering making my own speakers mainly because I have the tools, and patience. Many feel DIY systems sound better for less cost. In addition there are some excellent cabinet plans and one can get great speaker components as well. Thoughts?
@Youthman
@Youthman 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gary. I will be posting a video tomorrow about some upcoming products that I will be reviewing. PSA is on the list. I reached out to Tekton awhile back but did not receive a response. I probably will not get into DIY speakers

Thanks for responding. I understand not getting into DIY because no consistency to measure really. I listened to the Tekton Impact they sounded very good but when listening to speakers solo they all sound good to me! LOL. Hence side by side is the only way to compare.

@Youthman -- Good review :) Using a single SB16-Ultra myself, and am very satisfied with it. My listening room in some 1,900 cubic feet, and it feels like the single SB16 has no problems filling that space with deep, rather effortless bass. However, I'm thinking of adding a second SB16 to widen the sweet spot a bit, and perhaps also make for a bit smoother bass. What are your views on going dual sub - is it an essential? What does "stereo" sub-bass (which it really is with one sub for each channel) sound like compared to only a single sub?
@Youthman
@Youthman 6 жыл бұрын
I find two main benefits of adding a second sub woofer. The first benefit is additional output and pressurization of your room. The second benefit is it provides a smoother bass response throughout your room so that more seats have even bass. When I was running one sub offer, I could move over one seat and it would go from incredible base to almost no base because that chair was sitting in a null.
@Youthman
@Youthman 6 жыл бұрын
Is a second sub essential? No. Is it beneficial? Absolutely. Also, you really aren't getting "stereo" bass. The bass signal (even from Dual Sub Outs, is a mono signal and the same information going to each sub. Mikael, if you do decide to purchase a second SB-16 and use my Affiliate Link, I will receive a small commission for referring you. Hey youthman, I’m looking at building a new surround sound system and iv been looking at the rp-280f and the RF-7iii. My question is is there a huge difference between them? Is it worth spending the extra money for the RF-7iii for movies? I’m going with the 16 ultra sub maybe two of them . Thanks keep the videos coming I love watching them there a lot of help ✌🏻

I'm curious on your thoughts comparing the LaScala to the RF7III's. I have a trio of LaScala myself, they had been my "holy grail" for a long time. Wondering if modern technologies have caught up/surpassed? Have you done a video on this?
@Youthman
@Youthman 6 жыл бұрын
I have not done a directly AB between the RF-7 III and the LaScala Trio but I previously had RF-83 / RC-64 and bought a pair of LaScalas out of curiosity. the LaScalas had much better midrange and the soundstage was incredible. When I bought the third LaScala and compared it to the RC-64, I was sold on the LaScala Trio. There are reasons why the RF-7 III are $3200 / pair and the LaScala II are $8000 / pair. The only thing they lack is the bottom end. They don’t have the slam a.m. factor of the RF-83 or RF-7 III but the bass they do produce is super clean and smooth.

Would love to see B&W send you the 702s2’s to compare to the 7III’s! I was always a klipsch guy until I just picked up the 702s2’s and matching center. I would love to see someone with much more experience and knowledge compare them. You say you love the 7III’s so much but it seems you plan to keep what your running behind the screen. Any reason? Thanks for the great videos!
@Youthman
@Youthman 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, I have always enjoyed the sound of B&W. In the past, I had B&W DM604 S2, DM604 S3 and a few of their DM bookshelf speakers (can't remember the models). I liked the sound of the 604's, especially at lower volume, but when I cranked them up, the bass got really muddy and the highs started breaking up and becoming strained, even when driven with an Acurus A200 (200 x 2) amp. As far as the RF-7 III, they sound incredible but they will not be replacing my LaScala Trio. There is a reason why the RF-7 III are $3200 MSRP and the current LaScala II are $8000 MSRP. Also, the RF-7 III would not be a good fit as the tweeter would be entirely too high when placed behind the screen due to the platform that the speakers sit on is around 2' high already. I've been putting aside some money over the past few months and just yesterday I sold our Cedar Sauna to help go towards any upgrades I want to make in the near future from products that I review. Most companies have given me the option of purchasing their products at a discount since they will have to pay to ship it back and then try and sell it used. A few weeks ago, I sold my RF-7's as my plans are to give my son the RF-7 II to match his RC-64 II and move the RF-7 III into my 2ch setup.
@cdommel
@cdommel 6 жыл бұрын
Youthman thanks. The 604’s are def not the new 702’s. Hope you get to hear them soon. Being a klipsch guy it was hard to make a change but to me the highs just sounded more crisp and clear. The 7III’s had more lows for sure but with the right sub I just enjoyed this more. I have heard the PB-16’s and loved them. Right now I have the def tech super-cube 8000. I love it. No one seems to talk about them much. The SVS seems great but would take up more room for sure. Has anyone else out there changed from def tech to svs?

The hard part about showing video demos of scenes from a movie is KZbin often flags them for copyright infringement. I worked about 6 hours on an audio demo that had multiple songs only to have KZbin COMPLETELY remove the video for copyright infringement. Talk about incredibly frustrating. So now I try to use Copyright Free or Royalty Free Music for audio demos so I can play them without having the videos pulled by KZbin.

I have the svs pc 12 plus....it’s a cylindrical sub with the ports on the top. They allow you to plug one port and run it in 16 hz mode....I think you might like that. It’s stupid to be able to dig deeper on those heavy bass scenes. You can probably do that with the ported version of the svs sub you are reviewing

One guide line I look at, is the sensitivity rating...Klipsch have always be quite sensitive! What this means is that it takes less wattage to get volume....it doesn't actual tone, just efficiency...to be loud without using eating watts of power. They were designed to be loud with low power. Look at that rating and listen to the quality....none has to do with the other. .........just a thought.....but check it out....
@Youthman

Yes I’m familiar with the high sensitivity that Klipsch offers. That’s why I sold my Sherbourn 7/2100 (200 x 7) amp after upgrading my RF-83 / RC-64 to the LaScala Trio. The LaScalas are ridiculously efficient.

My issue is I just don’t get much low frequency out of the Paradigm’s. The imaging with them and the CC690 is excellent. What kind of bass do you think the Klipsch RF-7 will give me in 2 channel listening mode? They are much larger and the dual ported design is to impressive.

Just a few days ago I had a gentleman come by to buy three of my Klipsch RSW15 subwoofers and while he was here, I demoed my RF7 III and he literally got up from his seat to look for the sub.

I started out my Klipsch journey when I went into a home theater store and heard the original RF7. I was soooo blown away, I began working towards buying a pair. I have since owned 3 pair of RF7's. I bought a pair of RF7 II and gave my son a pair of the RF7's. Then a few months ago, I sold the RF7, gave my son the RF7 II and upgraded to the RF7 III for my 2ch setup. My theater room is 13' x 19' with 10' ceiling and my living room is 15' x 25' with 12' ceiling and the RF7 III fill and pressurize both room with ease. The RF7 III have the smoothest / most refined top end of the three. Midrange and Bottom End sound very similar. If you do decide to purchase a pair and use my affiliate links below, I would be greatful. I have also included the RF7 II if you need to save some cash ($1000 less than the RF7 III). I have been using them for several years and absolutely love them as well. They are a tad brighter on the top end than the RF7 III but still sound incredible. You truly cannot go wrong with either. Klipsch RF7 III - amzn.to/2Nd1dVd Klipsch RF7 II - amzn.to/2N9wf0l I might be selling my RC64 III in Natural Cherry if you are within the US.

Being I like movies and music 50/50 and prefer a 12 inch sub im torn between svs pb 2000 and klipsch r 112sw . coming from a polk audio psw505 which is good on movies and crap on music above 50% master volume . which do you think id be happier with. I have klipsch r 28f tower speakers and at high volumes the polk just can't put out enough high end bang to keep up
@Youthman
@Youthman 6 жыл бұрын
I do not like recommending Speakers that I have personally not heard and unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to hear any of the three speakers that you have mentioned. Typically Polk isn’t known for making incredible subs. SVS has a great reputation for making quality subs. They tend to be on the higher price point. Klipsch isn’t known for great subs since their really old RSW-15 but the latest R-112SW and R-115SW have been receiving a lot of praise, especially at their cost.

Now I don’t know what to think.....lol. I have been using an RSW-15 since 2002. I’ve had to replace the amp once but it is starting to fail again. I was really looking at buying an SVS SB16 Ultra to replace it but your review has me worried that it won’t have the chest pounding, room shaking slam my old Klipsch does. The PB16 Ultra is just too deep to fit where I have to put it, so I was really hoping the SB16 would do the job. I have a 7.1.4 setup with four RF-7 III’s , two RS-7’s, five RC-7’s and the aforementioned RSW-15.
@Youthman

Bob you have a killer setup. The Dual SVS SB-16 have a lot of slam factor. In a previous video, Audyssey set my crossover too low so the SB-16’s were not handling the bass being produced from the song I was listening to. Klipsch wants to send me their R-115SW so I’m curious if it can hang with the RSW-15. I’m also going to be reviewing the Power Sound Audio S3601 which has Dual Sealed 18’s in sealed enclosure for the same price as an SVS SB-16 which actually has a 15” woofer. Also, Tom Vodhanel, the co-founder of Power Sound Audio is the “V” in SVS. I have spoken with him on the phone and he sounds very knowledgeable and seems like a super guy.

I know you don't have the Reference premier set but maybe you can help me out... I can't seem to get my RP-280F's to their potential. At "reference" level my rp-450c center channel is bumping. Flexing the woofers.. But the RP-280F'S just seem dull... As big as they are and with the 2 woofers they should be causing some chaos and they aren't.... Any thoughts / ideas? Maybe just simply need an Amp?
@Youthman
@Youthman 6 жыл бұрын
The reference speakers typically don’t have a lot of excursion but they should provide adequate amount of bass. A couple questions for you… What is your crossover for the mains in your receiver set at? What model receiver do you have? How many speakers do you have connected to the receiver? What is your source (CD, Blu-ray Player Streaming music from your phone etc)
@billcozad7295

The regular reference series I would expect the floor speakers to be flat... But the RP-280F'S are quite large with two 8" woofers. Not too far off what the RF-7S offer no? I think I should definitely be getting more bass from them. Maybe I'm expecting too much out of them Idk. But they are big and look booming lol.

Hi Franklin. Audyssey set my mains at 40Hz and one day Inwas playing a song and noticed the subs should have been slamming but weren’t at all. I discovered that the song was playing frequencies between 50Hz and 60Hz and since the receivers crossover was set to 40Hz, the bass was not being routed to the subs. Please compare the RSW-15 and R-115sw. Most people swear by the RSW - 15s but as its an aging sub, I would love to know how the r115sw compares, 1 VS 1, or 2 vs 2. On paper, the new sub seems to be more efficient achieving similar numbers with less power. The extra power and passive radiator of the RSW-15 will surely give it an edge but how much of a gap is there really? Cant find a reliable video with an honest comparison.

I just burned my RP-450C driver totally. And since I had it before and I feel like it not really very appealing on the soundstage. Still a bit lay back, so I was thinking of getting the much expensive bro (RC-64 III) or the Focus Aria Center. But the price of RC-64 III is triple to RP-450C. So if the sound is worth that much of money, I wouldn't certainly be going with it, else I will stick with Focus Aria. I heard the Aria 936 before and its really suit my taste compare RP-280F, which I have now. So from there I think probably the Aria center can be better than RP-450C or even RC-64 III. pls pls get a sample from klipsch ...waiting for your review. Thanks.

@Youthman
@Youthman 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ritchey, my reason behind setting the LFE channel to 120Hz is your LFE channel carries content from 120Hz down. This is a dedicated channel that is separate from your Left and Right Channel. So if you choose anything lower than 120Hz for the LFE channel, your system will simply not play those frequencies thus missing out on content that the sound engineers wanted you to hear.

Klipsch and SVS make very solid performers that are great values. Parasound is about as good as it gets for clean, high current power to feed your system. Did you do much work with the Parametric EQ in the SB16’s? Just if you messed around with the the DSP in the sub or just used the Audissey and receiver to do all of the EQ work. I’m wondering if the subs maybe got broken in a little to cause the improvement, or if it was just the content on your first test just favored the Klipsch subs more than this movie. I’ll be quite interested to see your impressions of the PB16 if you test them out as those should have a lot more output in the low frequencies.
@Youthman

Thanks Michael, I’m guessing it is the content combined with placement. I didn’t want to base my entire opinion of a product from one demo. Watching an entire movie provides a more accurate picture of its capabilities. I have not messed with the parametric EQ yet since I need to buy a UMIK-1 mic and Leanne how to take measurements using REW.
