Klipsch is known for some EXCELLENT speakers. Probably the most heard of name behind Bose. But why aren't their subs getting as much love as their speakers do? We have the SPL-100 Subwoofer in for review to try and find out!

Great review. I have used an SPL-150 for about a year now in a 12x13x8 room running 5.1.2. Went from an SVS SB-2000 to this and at the time you could get them for the same amount of money (give or take 100 bucks). All of the shortcomings you mentioned about the 10" version are gone with the 15" model. The only modification I made is added an OSD DSP module to tinker with the output since it doesn't have built in dsp. It is solid down to 20 (maybe 18hz) in my room and I can't turn the gain past 4 before it completely overpowers my SVS prime bookshelf/center/satellite system. It doesn't have the build quality of the aforementioned brands but it is solid sub and would swap most of my other equipment before I felt I needed to change it.

Like some other commenters, i have two 12 inch klipsch subs. I live in an apartment and they are in a 9ft x 14 ft room. So the subs are a bit overkill, and they are set to -12 db and wayyy below reference and dynamic volume light, since i live in apt. Gain maybe at 25%. But i just installed two bass shakers and they are an awesome and easy to set up alternative. They shake my entire room, but dont disturb neighbors. Awesome tactile feel in action movies

Klipsch subs are great...if you have yet to hear other subwoofers. Once you feel the bass you weren't aware was achievable in a consumer space, you can't look backwards. Decent products for the average consumer.

Another good review. I have 2 klipsch 150 spl subwoofers and they sound good for my room.my issue with them have been replacing the drivers. I've blown out numerous drivers. Klipsch does replace the under the warranty but it gets old and tiresome. That's why I'm currently looking for better drivers to replace the original klipsch drivers.

I had a 10 inch Definitive Technology subwoofer that was 20 years old and it went out on me. Wasn't going to pay to get it fixed, didn't have a lot of money to spend, so I got a Klipsch black label synergy sp-100 10 inch subwoofer. Sounds just fine. Don't need to turn the gain up even halfway and it's thumping. I did buy a 3 year warranty for some peace of mind. Sub was $249.

I just got a Klipsch SPL-120 (12", 300W) a couple weeks ago used for $358.95...massive improvement over my 65W Polk 10" sub. It's nice to be able to feel T-rex roaring and spaceships flying overhead! It goes nicely with my RP-600Miis and R-34C center channel. I want to get a bigger center though, like a RP-504C or Cii.. My H/T doubles as my bedroom, but don't have room for two subs

When I first rewatched a few Blu rays with the R-112SW, it seriously felt like I found a missing piece actually making so many things fall into place with my Klipsch system, and I found it for just 349 with a 60 day trial period from Crutchfield. It seriously rumbles half of the house, and I'm absolutely keeping this to finally replace the 8-inch Sony, but if SVS launches a sale on memorial day for the PB 1000 for the same price, then I may get one and compare the two to see which one I'll send back. Anything higher, like around 449, I'm not sure an extra 5 hz is worth an extra 100 bucks if they lack the midbass punch of the Klipsch like I've read on some forums.

Klipsch subwoofers are hated on because they don't provide much output below 30hz and at MSRP there are way better options. For music that doesn't really matter but for home theater it absolutely does. But you already knew that😅🤣😭. Rythmik LVM12 for $729 is a much better option

My SPL150s go down to 15Hz without losing output...I measured it myself with REW. I do have two of them and a small room, so YMMV! They were the cheapest option to get a 15" sub though. Paid somewhere between 600 and 700 for each here in Germany.

I don't recall you reviewing the RSL SpeedWoofer which is also a 10"er. I think you'll be impressed (Audioholics gave it a great review) and as an option for $50 it's wireless ready (bluetooth) which makes dual sub placement front and back pretty cool. Yea I will agree with the idea that Klipsch don’t really dig deep, and provide that punch, one wants for movies, and other things like that. I have 2 pb-3000 for my theater, and so far, I like the sound but they will take some more adjusting to make them sound great….

Yea I’m wanting to upgrade to a 2000 pro and eventually get 4 of those. But this one just can’t get deep it makes that weird, bubbling noise but for now, Since I technically have for subwoofers now, this one’s not working nearly as hard as working like 25% rather than 100% like it usually was so for now it should be good not working very hard

SVS without hesitation...but you should look at Monolith too because those are amazing subs too. I believe the Monolith 10 inch 500w sub is priced very nicely. I don't think any sub on the market compares to their new Monolith 13 inch 2000w sub.

I would rather buy one small quality subwoofer (Rel or Rhythmik) then put up with that until funds permitted me to go ahead and purchase another one. In my experience two small subwoofers will always outperform one large driving subwoofer! One other consideration, if one has got neighbours to consider... this most certainly would be the best option to take.
@GSP-76
@GSP-76 2 жыл бұрын
For me there are only two brands of subs I'd buy - Monolith and SVS. I've heard so many but those two are on a different level with their subwoofers. Klipsch really isn't worth buying a sub from at any price point.
@MrWirelesscaller
@MrWirelesscaller 2 жыл бұрын
Rel, Bag End, HSU Research, Velodyne, and Nht all makes better subs in my opinion over Klipsch at the same price points. I believe Polk are about equal to Klipsch. I also believe if the person is capable they can also build a much better sub too for the cost. Klipsch speakers are also taste dependent as well for the price I prefer other brands. The one great bargain they have is sold at times a Sams, Costco, and Walmart this last Christmas was their Computer multimedia set that was going for about $100.

I have a cheap Klipsch 10 inch I purchased for $160 in 2017. I believe it’s the K-100SW. It’s been alright with zero issues or strange noises. I have the gain set to 50% and have it set at -8.0 db per decibel meter measurements. I’ve been thinking about upgrading but this sub has been pretty decent for the money. Does what you expect and goes down to 32 hz. Considering SVS maybe some time in the future or possibly another Klipsch subwoofer. I would like a bit more impact in my movies.
