The 1200 is $800 The SPL-120 is $400. I think 2 SPL-120 will sound better than one 1200.

I just got the RP-1400SW and that thing is just crazy, its really scary how much bass it produces, its fast, its loud and most importantly it goes deep. In this price range I haven't heard anything that can beat it.

Hey, how about the RP-1400SW past this time? And about the depth, is it go really down to 16 Hz? Is it strong, the bass below 20 Hz?

@@magnat505 Great! Nice to know it! I was really wondering myself if its 500 watts RMS would be enough to feed this 14" speaker to reproduce deep and loud bass. What about volume that you usually listen to, on AVR and in the back of subwoofer? And, if you don't mind, I would like to suggest you to play a song called "Resonance Evil", from Bassotronics. Be careful with your house structure...

@@jlsnr My AVR is the denon X6700-H with main T+A Criterion 2000 speakers. I let auddessey do its work when the subwoofer was on level 2, then turned the volume op to 4. The AVR in movies is on -57DB, which usually shakes the windows, couch, floor. The song sounds heavy, but Im used to songs like that. I love to play on my level from whiz khalifa. That makes a heavy impression on a good sub

@@magnat505Very nice!! Volume is realtively low, on sub, it seems to have a very sensitive speaker! I could Imagine if you turn the volume up, till reference level, the amount of bass it would put out! Nice choice, play Wiz Khalifa heavy bass songs, they should really pressurize your room!

Now if you have the old version and really like it buying another one now that you can get it cheaper might be the best option. Doubling the cone area lowers the excursion to a quarter of what was needed to produce a given spl so you will gain linearity and lessen the chances of port noise, and gain about 6db of output over just the one you have.

@KimmoJaskari

The rounded corners also contribute to its rigidity, I believe - and the speaker grill had to be thicker just to keep it far away from the ultra high excursion new driver, or so I heard. Very impressive first impressions of the new Klipsch; they even addressed the issues the older gen had with fragile amps, they claim to have gotten well on top of that issue this generation. Also - you can get huge SPL out of a small box, but you need to quadruple the amp power or some such, a bigger ported box is way easier. :)

There isn’t a massive difference between these two subs. The spl made more than rated rms while the 1200 made less that stated rms. The spl meter showed the spl 120 was louder which is why you probably cut the vid short. The only thing I gleaned from this is that the spl-120 is still a viable option if you are looking for a Klipsch sub.

@scrivs1976

Can’t be 100% sure, but the amplifier looks to be identical to that found in the SPL-150, the measurements help n confirming this. The SPL-100/120/150 all share identical PS/Amp PCBs (all three are marked on the board). They just stuff them differently to achieve the rated power per application. Great class D’s- IRS2092 based if I recall correctly 😎 So, same(ish) amp, and larger box. Only real advantage imo is the reduced port chuff. Not at all digging the increase in size/weight for a few hz lower extension/small spl increase. The older models look like even more of a bargain after watching your video. Thanks for the data point🤙

Yeah, the old subs are really good if you can find a good deal on them. But I can say the amp is definitely different and improved because we had a ton of issues with the previous model. Now Klipsch is amazing and they took care of every single one of them in warranty or not. But the new ones have been absolutely rock solid. And the chuffing reduction is a huge improvement. Thanks for taking the time to comment, great thoughts

This Chuffing doesn't occur all the time but is annoying when it does occur. Called Klipsch and they sent me another sub but it is still happening. Is there a setting in my av I have wrong? @DivineAV

@@dvspot yep, the old ones are a bit more powerful as they had to reduce them just a bit and make the cabinet larger to nearly eliminate port chuffing. The new ones are cleaner, but they’re all good subwoofers. We always recommend that you don’t go above about 45 or 50% on the older woofers because the amplifiers are known to go out when pushed too hard

@DivineAV
@DivineAV 6 ай бұрын
Mine failed. This was a bit of an issue on those particular subs. We generally recommend running that one at around 50% capacity. It tends to live in that range. Klipsch is one of the best companies out there for warranty claims. Reach out to the dealer that you bought it from and have them put in a claim. Sometimes they will take care of it out of warranty if it’s a decent size Klipsch dealer. You can also just modify it and use something like a crown or other amplifier that puts out more power. Drill a hole in the back of it and then silicone it after you make the connections

Hey guys, great video, enjoy head to head testing. Would you recommend Rp1200 over the SVS PB2000pro? It's a 500$ premium for the SVS for us here in Australia. Also what song did you use for the SPL test?
@DivineAV

Thank you very much. We greatly appreciate your support and for subscribing. Honestly, the Svs will have a slight advantage, in overall output but I think the RP 1200 will be cleaner, less audible port noise, and aesthetically it’s a nicer, looking sub. You can’t really go wrong either way though.

Thanks for the replies, a big sale plus a free upsize 12 to 14 finalized my decision so now i have the Klipsch RP 1400! It's an imposing box but i have no complaints about the sound in my open plan living room! great bass that you can feel and doesn't seem to struggle with anything you throw at it, keeping it at vol 7 and 80hz crossover seems to be the sweet spot that doesn't rattle the windows too much.

hey my friend, thank you very much for reaching out. For your room, I would definitely recommend the RP 600s and 1000 SW. If budget constraints, the SPL 100 or 120 can be found at some sources. their performance is still very good but I recommend running them at around 50% gain otherwise you could experience some long-term amplification failure. The 1000sw has a five-year warranty instead of two and is a more reliable unit plus doesn’t suffer from chuffing noise. RP 500 is a bit small for the space. Thank you so much for your support!

At what point would you recommend 2 of these in a room?
@DivineAV
@DivineAV Жыл бұрын
You could run 2 units in phase a coupe of feet away from each front corner. Bass treat the rear corners with traps and center wall with an absorption panel. You could also run front and rear opposite corners. Try the rear sub in phase and out of phase to see which one performs better. The best option would be four units. Two in phase in the front of the room and two out of phase in the rear of the room. You need an AVR that has four Sub outs and Dirac live calibration. If it’s a high end, build, I would suggest a Trinnov with the new bass wave forming. Feel free to reach out if you need any products or advice. Thanks Avoftomorrow.com
