After center channels, we wanted to jump into subwoofers. Today lets get into the Klipsch SPL-150. The biggest and baddest Klipsch Subwoofer available today! We will do a quick dip into the specs, and then take it apart to show you what the components look like, and a bit of what it looks like inside!

That is a beast! I wouldn’t think of not using a sub. I added a one as soon as I could find one which was a BSR passive 15” in 1985 from a DAK Industries catalog. They were a discount electronics importer selling unique gear. I’ve been using the Klipsch RW10D digitally programmable sub now for 17 years. I’m able to have my surround setup paired with Synergy B3’s and a tube amp paired with Heresy 1’s able to recall the specific settings for each with the push of a button…such a convenient feature. Nice outtake at the end. You sound like me every morning!

Love my SPL-150. It's not the end-all be-all of subwoofers, but does a really good job in my space. I never felt my RF-7's were lacking in bass, but adding the sub really helped round them out nicely.

I think it would complement my infinity CSW-10 as the hz would really give me that full sweep. Alright it's shower time , pour a drinky drink and start taking it apart and giving it a looksky.

My friend just got this sub yesterday and holy shit its loud. With 20HZ rebassed music everything is shaking in the house! I bought his old Polk Audio HTS-10 for my house to get some bass there too :) It sounds good for me. Bass response starts from around 25HZ and goes all the way up to the frequencies where my Jamo S506 towers kick in. I got the crossover set to 80HZ on the sub.

I have the R-115SW and the specs you read off are identical to mine. The R-115SW's, including mine had an issue with the amplifiers craping out. Of course mine did it after the warranty expired. Besides a few changes in the box construction the SPL-150 seems to be a just a R-115SW v2.0. I hope Klipsch found a better vendor for the amps. My solution was to dedicate a bridged Crown XLS 1500 in LowPass mode, and run the R-115SW as a passive.

I have that one R-115SW also and, luckily, haven’t had any problems with it. It has been in service for 3 years already; only for home theater. I do not like SWs for my stereo system. The performance is brutal, it is a true monster; the whole house (3 levels, all brick a masonry) shakes when I turn up the volume; it’s pretty impressive.

Thanks for watching! I suppose it is a R115SW 2.0 to a degree as, it's the next 15" powered sub in the line and a couple years newer. As for reliability, I don't have any complaints to speak of on either unit. I've had my 115 for 4 or 5 years now with no complications and, while the spl150 is somewhat new, it seems like itll be running just as hard for just as long. While you seem to have found a good solution, if you decide you want to go back to powered and are skeptical of the 115 amps, I believe (please confirm with klipsch before taking my word for it) that the SPL-150 amps are in stock and will work on the 115. You may try going that route instead. :) hope this helps! -Jason

@@PaducahHomeTheaterTV The 150 is EXACTLY the same as the 115, don't get fooled here, Klipsch is a company and wants to earn money. However, if you don't need the wood finish there is 200 $ or more to save for the exact same Subwoofer. If you don't want to pay hundreds for just the wood finish, go for the 115.

Good stuff. With only one out put from my receiver, should I just connect my cable to the white (left) input of the subwoofer or should I get a "Y" adopter to plug into both (left and right) inputs of the Sub?

Thanks for the video, Mark Casavant of Klipsch had mentioned around CES 2017 that there would be a matching subwoofer with the same furniture grade wood veneers to accompany the flagship Reference RF-7 III/RC-64 III models, I guess the idea was eventually scrapped & also back in May 2020 Jill Escol of Klipsch had mentioned that they had a killer subwoofer nicknamed "The Beast" coming to rival SVS but that too it seems has been cancelled :( In the video description you accidentally mention "Today lets get into the Klipsch RP-504C" should be corrected to SPL-150 :)

I honestly can't say/don't know anything about the rumored beast. It would be awesome to see something come through but, only Klipsch themselves know what's going on there. I can say though, that the production process can take a while, especially with what these last couple of years have brought. From concept, to creation, to testing to final product, it can sometimes be several years. Hopefully we see something soon though! Also, thanks for the catch! Fixed the description. :) -Jason

Once I have finished completed the speaker and SPL150 subwoofer installation. I have powered on the device, only in subwoofer I could feel mild electric shock in metallic portions behind the subwoofer. Help me what to do

Do you know if the amp from this sub is similar to the R-115 sw. I seem to be having issues with the amplifiers and have had to replace 2 already.

I believe them to be similar but updated. They are cross compatible so you can use a 150 amp in a 115 (same with the 112 and 120), but I'm not certain on exactly what has changed between the two amps. supposedly a newer/improved version. -Jason

I won't be spending any more money for a while (a pair of RP600Miis and an R34C within the past month along with next summer's vacation) but I eventually want to replace my subwoofer that came packaged as a 5.1 system with tiny satellites. All other things being equal, how much difference does pure power make? My sub has a 10" woofer and I was shocked to find it only has 65 watts of juice to push out the sound. Also, it it better to get two smaller subs or one big one?

Very dependent on the sub and the design. I would look at the spec sheet of each you're interested in and see what that power does on paper and in room. The wattage printed on the side of the box unfortunately doesnt tell the whole story. -Jason

It's the Best Deal now at $599 on Amazon. But if you spending $1,200 the REL Predator 15" or Definitive Technology DN15 with 3XR or 3 Woofers & HSU 15" the King, All are $1200 and high end shake the neighbor's house not just your house at real high quality 20HZ. It's like you want the Car's Jr $8 Burger or the $20 Steakhouse Burger..... For a house party or playing Rap & Rock music just get the Klipsch SPL 15

I had a 20 year old RSW 15 in my FR7 surround system. A couple years ago I bought the 70th Anniversary La Scala II for my main listening room. I keep hearing rumors about a new sub from Klipsch often referred to as the Beast. I have been holing out on buying a sub for the La Scallas until this comes out. Am I waiting for something that is not coming.

Fellow Klipsch owner here, Klipsch makes some damn good speakers but their subs aren't all that. I would just get an SVS sub. They are probably the best sub you can buy for the money.

Are you talking about the 4 indentations in the cutout? The screw holes were normal, but there are indentations around the circle which I assume are guides of some sort to help the driver set in correctly. -Jason
