Gearing: Make the best set & level sync p.2

So, I'm late to the party, but just resubbed and these videos have been an immense help! I do have an issue though and was hoping to get some feedback. Most of my guys were 70 when I logged back in. So I just picked one and did some heroics to get a feel for the game again. My Juggernaut, Commando, Sage, and Powertech just blew through them, pulling entire rooms all the way to 80, no issue with any heroic at all. My Guardian on another server was 55, so I started doing the same thing with him. No issues, some of his gear slots weren't even filled, but he just nuked the missions like no thang, he's 65 now and has a decent set of gear, but nothing fancy. Then there's my Vanguard (spec'd the same as my powertech mentioned above). I can't do heroics with a boss...any of them. So I bought all the level 61 pieces ilvl 200 for his complete set (he is 61, so that's near best gear he can have)...still gets destroyed in heroics. Now, I think the easy thing for me to do is just do a second combat style and carry on, but i refuse to accept defeat with this 1 class, as the other classes have been relatively easy to play, despite any level gaps or syncs or gear issues, whatnot. I am using the basic rotation that my powertech used to level with, but the Vanguard just seems to take so much more damage compared to other classes. I even tried shield spec for a minute, but with dps gear, just got shredded as well. I'm almost at the point that I will make him an operative and just stealth missions to 80, but figured I would try one last ditch effort to salvage this Vanguard.

If you run shield spec with dps gear, make sure the offhand is at least a shield instead of a generator. I do find that vanguard can feel a little squishy, but it shouldn't feel that much worse than your other characters. There could be multiple reasons why. Could be the level difference, could be your companion influence level, could be the specific planets/heroics, etc. If you haven't, check out my video on tips to get stronger and beat any content to see if any of those could be your problem.

For an update; It is so so so nice! Lets take the example of Balmorra. I have always really really struggled with the bug town heroics. Now I realize that it was in fact because of my missing of accuracy and alacrity and having level sync. Most people don't even know that they have to check the option on the mini map that shows them exploration quests, so they level as they are supposed to level. But I found out early that fact, and so I have been over leveled for every since instance since about 35 ish and always struggled. Mainly on Heroics because I was always trying to do them, generally after I cleared all the main quests. The problem with that is that gives you even more xp, so like my Shadow Infiltration is at 72 and not even done with Balmorra. Which is technically a level 37 zone. But every time I mentioned building my gear at the level gear vendors everyone discouraged me and said that was a late game thing. So I have thought I just sucked. lol but yeah, now that I know better, I am trying to keep my accuracy at above 105%, which is confusing because you say like 2200 here, but accuracy at my gear level which is 220 (level 70 enhancements) is 800 and that gives me 107.05% That took 4 pieces of accuracy, granted I don't think we can or really should buy earpeice, implants and relics so I just use what has been dropped, which my ear has 160 accuracy. So then I used 3 pieces of alacrity into my modable gear. This gives me 480 which gives me 4.06% Crit is 82 which gives a chance of 14.35% with a 51.05% multiplier. Likely inflated by my datacron farming. The whole reason I was asking about modding my gear is because i didn't understand the stats and what they meant, and instead of people helping me, they just told me I didn't need it. I found your videos pretty early but this sounds like maybe it is for level 80, and the advice I had, said I didn't need it, so well. At least I caught it now. I was able to solo finish the black hole heroics EZ, so fixed my problem there too. The only real struggle now is trying to convince anyone that I am right and found this, most are sticking to their perspective, and that is fine. But there are people in chat that ask occasionally so now I will have an answer, though again probably people well tell them I am wrong. I would guess it is like this because even people that make a new account on a new server, they don't take the time to do side missions and therefore aren't out leveling their content so they don't have to deal with this. I had made a reddit post, asking it to be tested if someone wanted to disagree with me, so not sure if this is something you are willing to test to make a video on, and it probably won't be very popular considering it doesn't even really seem like the game wants people to do anything but fast level the purple missions so IDK if it would even be worth it. There would need to be some side by side time to kill with the different gears to help drive the point home. The hive queen at balmorra might be a good example as it is pretty much just DPS. Also just a side note; I had level 50 companions in both instances. I was running the Krypax stim that boosts presence. People tried to pin it on my Comp use, and yeah, I think there would be an op for a video as well, because you really need to stay close to your companion. I wasn't really. Also if they are walled off by 1 or more opponents they won't heal you, so it helps to pull off whatever you are doing and help them, then you are dpsing more than just 1. Also I didn't realize until later about using unity throughout the battle. Same with Heroic moment, every time it comes off CD I try to use it. Thanks again so much for the help!

I have seen many people struggle when they get around level 65 because their gear has not kept up with their level. Depending on your playstyle you might find you never need to worry about gear until you hit max level, or you might struggle a lot without fixing your gear as you go. As a new account with no perks, you will feel the impact of a gear a lot more than an old account with all the extra perks.

@@Draemn well hurry it up already :D, ive looked and absolutly noone has provided ANY of the information in this video, its alwaysthe same ol confusing stats of acc,alc and crit, and then baffles us with the fuzzy math twix alacrities main stat and the actual perc, noone ever mentions power or mastery or which items to place past legendaries and tacticals,notta one, revise this or make that 3rd vid please, thanks

The scaling is a real problem when you're playing KOTFE for the first time and your character is level 77, but you keep getting level 65 gear drops. That gear should be excellent, but level scaling makes it rubbish. They shouldn't scale gear that is above the level cap any lower than the level cap. After level 75 it's really hard to get decent gear, because the vendors selling appropriate mods take secondary currencies that you're short on. I'm trying to grind through crafting on 3 characters so that I can make something decent.

@@Draemn 80, but with 7.1 launching, is the idea you still buy CQ gear then just level it up via conquest points. I've seen a video where the idea was you get a 1 item to 230 then use a new vendor to mod items instead

@@bertrodgers2420 Yes, so you get your average gear item to 324 while upgrading one blue item (from flashpoints or operations) to 330. Once your average item rating is 324, you pick up the quest to deconstruct one prototype 330 gear from Hyde and Zeek. Profit! Now you can get 9 of the 14 items slots to 330 for just credits :D

So I loaded up my dps with accuracy- blue enhancements & purple augs and am still not 110%. Thoughts? Blues are Hyde & Zeke. Augs are purple level 75s.

Are you over 10% accuracy? If so, you're looking in the wrong spot to see 110% accuracy.
