Have you seen the Notams for Delhi? It's like a ream of A4, hidden within is a really critical bit of information that you have to find by wading through piles of trivia about a cow eating grass 4.3 nm away or someone cutting the grass between 05:31 and 05:36 🙄 NOTAMs need to be brought into the 21st century instead of being a dumping ground of useless information.

Lol the one this I have learned working in aerodrome ground ops is that pilots never ever check their NOTAMS.... The amount of times I've been working on remote strip's, ALA's etc under method of working plans that have published NOTAMS, and a pilot calls 10 mile final for a runway that has men and equipment all over it is honestly scary. Then they act like somehow you have done the wrong thing, often have no fuel to return to their departure destination and land on a parallel taxiway or something else stupid. Pilots, check your NOTAMS

This is nothing to do with NOTAMs, they said E9 and mistakenly took E5. This is not reading the sign before turning. Maybe it is more difficult to read because E5 is a high speed exit or maybe the pilots just did not pay close attention and followed the common motions.

And those that do are buried among the hundreds or thousands that do not. You could spend as long reading NOTAMSs as flying the flight. It’s a ridiculously outdated system.

I agree. The NOTAM System needs reworking for sure. Essential NOTAMS are buried in between hundrets of worthless gras cutting, or similar, NOTAMS. My personal "favourite" is planing any flight to/from/within India. Most of Indian Airports tend to write half of their AIP into the NOTAMS. Or sometimes at small french airports, some NOTAMS are only published in French, so its up to you to google translate it and hope that you get important information correctly translated. Another example was a lovely NOTAM, stating that ATC/Tower was not working at different times over a three day period, changing an airport into uncontrolled / VFR Traffic only. That happens sometimes, you might think. Yes, i agree. Problem was that this ATC closure NOTAM was buried in the FIR NOTAMS and NOT in the airport NOTAMs, because that would have been to easy....

There wasn't a need to send him around, but he should have said why he was sending him back to Approach on the first transmission. Just simply adding the worlds "runway blocked" to the beginning of his transmission would have been sufficient. Tower just sending a pilot who has been cleared for an approach back to Approach control with no explanation is confusing at best. I'm not sure how this country divides airspace and responsibilities between Approach and Tower, but my guess would be that Tower needed to send them back to Approach so that Approach could resequence them and decide whether they could side-step to the other runway or would just need to cancel their approach clearance and send them around the pattern.

@@alton4357 that´s wrong! The Tower tells you to go around even, when the clearence to land is not given. As a Muslim and a native Arabic speaker I can tell that it doesn't really mean "maybe" saying inshallah is like saying" if god willed that thing will happen " it's like a way to show ur respect to God willing so its always used in muslims communities but it doesn't means that the person who's saying it saying( maybe maybe not )

When a person says inshaallah, s/he means that s/he is willing to do that thing, but as Allah is the creator of everything and we (his slaves) dont have the power to create, s/he says I aim to do this and, with Allah's willing it will happen. But the misusage of the word inshaallah by muslims, when they dont want to do a thing and can not say that they wont do it, led to the understanding that this person might not do it and inshaallah means maybe . "I will come tomorrow inshaallah" means I will come certainly but, there might be some obstacles beyond my power so I say with Gods willing I will come. As a controller, knowing you have two exits that are blocked (E4 ,E5), an additional advisory to landing aircraft to taxi to the end may have prevented this. Also, the controller may not know what "paved" means. So he came back with a " I can hardly hear you", and "I cannot see you", Looking at twy E5, from the tower, that is 62 meters in height, KLM should have been visible. ATIS should first highlight the fact that several taxiways are closed - something like: "CAUTION, multiple taxiways closed; check NOTAMS." It should then broadcast a specific list, naming only the most consequential ones - those which would logically be expected to be used in the course of normal operations at the current time. If you're operating a two or three-pilot flight deck, you have the luxury of having one pilot dedicated to checking the NOTAMS for these closures carefully. If you're a single-pilot operation it's gonna be tougher to ascertain which taxiways are closed. But most of us have the ability to do the checking well in advance of arriving into the terminal area. Wow the controllers here are a lot nicer to KLM than when KLM did the same thing in RPLL. KLM pilots should read the notams more carefully as they have a habit using a closed taxi way. Inshallah to the controller.
@christiannnnnnnnnn2 жыл бұрын
Reading all the published notams just for a one hour vfr private flight takes about 15 to 20 minutes. I think in this specific case, the tower could've given an info while they were still on long final. But the tower controller seems like he's unable to do such things because he was struggling to even do the 'normal " controller stuff

They’ve had a 6 hour flight to read NOTAMS and prepare for the landing. Surely, in all that time, they can appreciate the runway environment they’ll be landing on.

Hearing the tower call a pilot "habibi" is eyebrow raising. Isn't that a term of endearment? For example you don't normally hear tower call pilots darling or love etc. Seems unprofessional?

Different parts of the world commonly use habibi as brotherly love not necessarily romantic. And is perfectly acceptable to use it in respectful conversation
