There is a portion missing from this film. This film was originally 1hr 8min. This film is only 1hr 6.5min. It could be some of it was lost due to the deterioration of the celluloid film used during that time. And that is why the story seems to lack the part how the villagers found out how Lyle Talbot is really Dr. Robert Cromwell. This was a pretty good film. Well worth your time to watch. Thank you PizzaFlix for posting these classics. Which would be lost and go unviewed by so many without your time and effort.

This isn't butchered any worse than the many Roy Rogers movies that were 'edited' to fit a 60-minute format. Who knows what's become of the originals. No one seems to think ahead on such things.

Dr. Cromwell, who was played by Lyle Talbot, was the father of Steven Talbot, in real life, who played Gilbert on the original "Leave it to Beaver" tv series, from 1957 to '63.

We desperately need Fewer Humans on this planet . NOt another 66 Million. 50 years ago there were 3 Billion people. Today there are close to 9 Billion. And it's still going up. Much is made of the fact that the rate of increase is slowing if we , as a ?Race cannot find a way of limiting our numbers, or ideally reducing them, then we will all perish and deservedly so.

What an interesting story. Due to the condition of the film, I noticed an inconsistency in the flow of the story. First the trading post people thought that Dr. Cromwell was the other man. Next we see Mark begging Cromwell to operate on his son.

Yes the transition from Don to Doc was a glitch - but the performance was very good by all, especially Talbot, serious, likable, believable. I think his Klondike friend was a young Gabby Hayes, quite sure of it actually. Great flick PF.
