Perry is one humble cat. I bumped into him (literally) in an LA music club a couple of years back and he was profusely apologetic over it. When he saw that I recognized him (I just said, “Hey man, nice voice!”), he smiled, grabbed my arm and said, “Thank you, thank you...really appreciate it!”

Absolutely agree! He's unassuming and so "down to Earth." I watched a CBS Sunday Morning™ interview with Steve Perry & 1 thing that really stood out was that he said, "I always felt like an outsider" (in Journey) and like he was always the "new guy" and didn't fit in. Neal Schon, however, OMG! Well let's just say that humility would not accurately describe Neal😮

@@morelife6508All artists are usually inspired by previous artists. But he was a countertenor and an Altino which is a rare voice - you are born with it or you aren’t. His voice range was higher than Sam Cooke’s. He has hit C6 - extraordinary!! He could also sing with a raspy voice like Otis Redding if he chose. Sam Cooke did not ever sing with a raspy voice. At 11 years old in 1981 our family went to either Woolworths or Woolco (can't remember which one) but, my brother came up to our mom and asked if he could get this album (Joan Jett) she said yes. I asked if I could get one too, she said yes. I went over to the record section and started looking and found, what I thought was incredible album artwork. I have always been fascinated by just his speaking voice. He comes across as such a down to earth guy - someone that you could just chill and have a quiet cup of coffee with. He's so witty and just naturally relaxing.

afraid that: IF I were having coffee with Steve.....I would NOT be "chilled"!!!!

@@conniegomez1321 ... lol 🤣 ... me either !! ... I would probably be absolutely stunned & in awe, unable to speak 🙂 ... either that, or I would want a big kiss & hug (or even more 🔥🔥) from this amazing gorgeous man !!

I just heard “What Was “ and “I Stand Alone” and if I wasn’t in love with him before I am now!!! I have been in sheer awe of his voice since 79. Always cried laughed or started dancing depending on the song. Worked extra jobs just to get tickets to one more of his concerts!!! Please Steve keep your promise…continue your amazing music and Go SF Giants!!!!

His voice actually kind of hurts my heart. I see him as a late 20's guy in his prime and it's sad we're all getting "one day closer to death." (Pink Floyd, "breathe")
