Glad you’re having fun with your bike. I’m not nearly smart enough to understand what Im looking at on the screen but it’s still impressive. I’d be happy if I could balance the check book 😂we’re about to get slammed with 2 feet of snow so I’m definitely going to be watching some motorcycle videos and hoping for an early spring 😎 Keep up with the videos no matter how crazy.. that’s what you tube is all about 😀

Well, heck, if you've got two feet of snow coming you need entertainment! You might go to this link, which is at KLRForum.com. You don't need to join up to view stuff. What's going on is explained. www.klrforum.com/1987-2007-wrenching-mods/70233-discussing-cdi-charateristics.html If the snow is still falling and you're brave, you could go to souperdoo.com and read up on some off-the-wall KLR stuff. Stay warm and dry, Tom

Hey, can you explain what the signals are on the screen? From what I understand, one would be to show the crankshaft at 10 degrees, the other one at 30 degrees, and the squiggly one would be the spark?

That is the trace of the pick-up coil vs the spark, showing the spark advance on a Gen 1 ignition system. I was farting around looking at the advance curve. The blue is the pick-up coil and the red is the spark. At idle the spark occurs at 30*BTDC and at full advance it gets to 10*BTDC. The hump in the blue line is the signal that the pick-up coil sends to the CDI. The 20* of advance is represented by the movement of the spark signal from right to left.

NO explanation?

Eh, just screwing around. That is the trace of the pick-up coil vs the spark, showing the spark advance on a Gen 1 ignition system. I was figuring out what the advance curve was. I'm going to put a KLR600 ignition on my bike (going kick-start only for a while) and needed a baseline to compare to.
