This was my childhood Kmart still sad it’s no longer abandoned kind of and I used to live up the road on here on rankin st. It was by Roosevelt park and this was the store I would go to before tarentum pa had a Walmart super center or I would go to giant eagle next door.

Now the sears at westmorland mall will be gone too. The only store left near Pittsburgh is Washington crown center

2 years later now gone it was my sears Washington crown center mall it’s sad it’s gone it was probably the only 1 level sears store in a mall in Pittsburgh area.

@Dusk Raccoon I wasn't even right. It's a dryer and a fridge and a stove for appliances and like 3 TV's. I thought that was a washer next to the dryer, but it's just the box for the dryer.

Kmart's own brands were really cheap, especially for the quality. Basic Editions has some really good stuff, and it's really low cost!

I agree. The Basic Edition quality is great...the fabric is quite thick.

Mall aholic this is sad this was my childhood Kmart I remember my stepmom worked here and also going around the Kmart This was the 3rd one to open in the state of Pennsylvania before that it was shaler township that closed with Kmart and before that Washington pa that closed in 1998 now homedepot.

It interesting to see the K-Mart buildings in the US as the Australian licensee pretty much copied them for stand-alone stores in the 1970's, right down to the arching on the front awning.

it wasn't a licensee, half the Australian company was owned by Kresge, the company who later changed its name to Kmart in the 70's. They look the same, because Kresge built both the American and Australian ones.

Coles (the 50% Australian partner and eventual licensee) did buy Kresge's half around 1978 if I remember rightly, but you are right that's why the stores are are cookie cutter from the US.

I was in that Store maybe 3-4 times if that,I always go to Wal-Mart,I just assumed K-Mart in New Kensington would always be there.I used to live in New Kensington up until about 5 Years ago,I'm now in Freeport and Wal-Mart is closer.I don't get to New Kensington anymore but still its really sad to see a childhood Store close.

Donna this was my childhood Kmart my stepmom vickie left way before the closure it was 2009 she left she left because she needed someone to watch me while she was working and my Dad was working to I am one of the last childhoods that got to experience this Kmart my sister was 10-11 at the time she left Kmart almost

I remember being sent to that store to help clean it up. We went into trailers out back they were loaded with every season of paper products. Keep in mind they sent us in in June they had halloween, Christmas, year old spring paper towels/ napkins, plates 53' trailer loaded from front to back. They did have one of the most profitable garden shops in the country. The clientele got a little rough in the evenings.

In the U.K., after Christmas shopping is over. On 26th of December Boxing Day sales starts, when items didn’t sale on Christmas. The shops in the U.K. knock the prices down for Boxing Day.

There's a roses department store that was an Ames/Hills a closed jc Penny and a u haul that was a Montgomery Ward's in nearby lower burrell

In Canada they’re bringing back Biway (discount store similar to Ames I would guess, possibly on a smaller scale - the one in my hometown wasn’t overly large). I was so excited, I have fond memories of it as a kid. Keeps my hopes alive they will eventually bring Zellers back!

They just announced today the last KMart in Erie on 26th St will be starting liquidation sales in 2 weeks and will be closing in March.

I was in a closing Lowes today, they are doing they're own liquidation sale, and sadly, the store although empty, still looks like new inside. It is a shame to close down such a nice store (Bridgeton, MO) location. Most stuff is 50% off the original price.

When's the last day for this store? The Riverside store in California is closing on the 13 of January. It's an hour away from where I live but I'll make the efforts to go...These stores got stuck in the 90's. Seems that they haven't even cleaned since then.

I was just there on Friday but it was during the day and tons of people were working, the manager and liquidator and a bunch of people taking down fixtures , more than when it wasn't closing so I didn't get to sneak into the back like I usually do.

With many things going on in the world we all need to dive into shenanigans. It's sad to see your KMart slowing decline into oblivious (the sound of the car alarm makes me think the store is hooked up to a monitor. When it stops the store is gone.) As I get partly depressed and angry over the demise of KMart and Sears (thank you blanky blank blank blank Eddie Lambart) and it's sad for the employees you switch my mood and make me smile in your own ways. The Cupcake reference is hysterical (makes me think of Boscovs) and you on the exercise bike. I needed to laugh. No, having multi Cat sits is fine, I love what I do, it's just seeing the positive spirit of the holiday fade so fast. You all win by just putting a smile on someones face. My Face and sometimes I need it. MEOWY Everything!
