I remember this Kmart in its heyday. The Layaway section used to be the Kmart Eatery. This is when that section of the store was cordoned off by partitions of half wood and half green glass. Those were the days when you walked into Kmart it smelled of popcorn and soft pretzels.

When was that, because I remember the eating place in this Kmart was in the right hand back side of the store and back by lay away was always the electronic stuff

You’re correct, but that location didn’t occur until the early 80’s when the store was remodeled. Prior to that it was located by layaway, circa mid to late 70’s.

Another awesome video Wallie. Just the music you used in itself made the video over the top for me! It brought back such great memories and good times. It’s sad for me to see such a fond childhood and even later, memory like KMart and Sears too for that matter fade away. Thank you Sir for helping us enjoy and respect them while their still with us. It's somewhat poetic and sad that the snow has symbolism... that KMart and Sears are in the winter of their retail lives. (Comment aided by beer!) I doubt either retailer will be here next Christmas. Another great video and your comments and reactions to things are priceless. As I said you could supplement your urbex career with standup and even play your music. Disappointing that people don't care enough to keep the store tidy. It takes five seconds to fold a pair of pants or put something back on the shelf. Don't want to imagine what their homes look like. Nice the soundtrack is KMRT. I played the Christmas music from KMRT while decking out my tree. I miss hearing musak in stores and malls. Better than most of this pop crap today. I rather hear the music you like which has words and depth. Thanks for going in the snow to film these dying giants.

Store is still fairly full. I just went to the one in Carlisle still around the same amount couple gondolas empty. No gondolas were taken down as of yet.

Not sure how close you are to Carlisle PA, but their massive Kmart is closing. Very sad. It was a well kept huge store. I spent LOTS of money there.

The Kenmore, Craftsman and Diehard signs are cool. When my Kmart was closing I took a picture at night of them. I wished I could have taken them but they are too big and they are attached to the building.

Loved the part in the dressing rooms. :P But still sad to see the state of the store overall. The Kmart in Middleburg Heights, Ohio is closing soon-ish, might be worth a check if you have the time. (They close at the end of December from what I know.)

I guess Walmart is gonna fill Kmart's shose. Your the only KZbinr I know of with that song playing in the video when you was riding on highway 12 have great memories there when I was a teenager.
