I was going to ask "where's Blob?" but he released 2023-12-12. Alioth a month before him, Elsa and Anihilus nearby too. Makes me realize how busted that period was in hindsight.

Arishem release week and the ensuing meta was a such wild and unique time - literally everyone playing Darkhawk (even the Arishem decks) and figuring out how to profitably Mystique it, Loki being completely broken in the mirror, Echo being briefly relevant. Also crazy that everyone was running Cassandra Nova after she released and Arishem was STILL a solid deck. Hope someone makes a whole retrospective on it some day, it deserves it!

Move Bounce is probably the only archetype in Marvel Snap where when someone says "Skill Diff," and i believe them. It is the hardest deck to sequence. It is oftentimes easy to get into spots where you are huge in one lane and can't win a second, so when i hear someone say Madame Web is busted and is a problem, my response is, the card would be cracked if the deck wasnt so hard to pilot, but it is hard to pilot and that makes the card fine. This is coming from someone who enjoys the deck in concept, but I need to be well caffinated and still run the turn timers down to nothing, trying to figure out the best play and sequence it correctly, and I still mess it up a lot, but I find it a fun puzzle to unravel when i can dedicate focused attention for the game. Until Move Bounce is a problem at lower levels, i see no reason to nerf Madame Web.

After languishing since the launch of the game, move deserves a broken card. Plus, generic move still isn’t strong, only the bounce variant is, so if you nerf Webb, you maybe being move bounce back in line, but every pure move deck goes back to being unplayable.

Arishem can also be considered a success because to a small extent it mitigates the awfulness of their card acquisition system in that if you play enough games with it you will get to try new cards when they come out consistently. It's far from enough but it helps and I suspect that's a big part of why so many people like it and play it. It's the only card that can be a 1 card deck practically speaking. There's an ideal way to build its deck but because of the randomly added cards it probably has more flexibility than most other marvel snap decks that are perfect 11 or 12 cards with minimal variation. When they eventually reveal what their plans are to get lapsed players back, if it's enough for me, Arishem is the first card I'd target and I'd recommend it to everyone because it's the quickest way to build a deck: Arishem and your 11 best cards with hopefully some synergy

I definitely did not mind Arishem. There's a lot of widely accepted cards i absolutely hate playing against, but never with Arishem. I did not win lots of stuff (got him 1 week before the nerf) with him, but the randomness gave me a fresh breeze outside meta decks

I’ve always loved playing against Arishem because it gives me a clear gameplan and indication of when to snap or retreat and I think what u said is interesting; I find playing around the general shape of Arishem to be very similar to poker where you play around a range of cards rather than a specific pocket pair or suited broadways because the plays they subsequently make allow you to rule things out and make informed decisions on when to retreat, similar to when an opponent 3-bets you and you fold or raise all in

Late comment is late comment, but I do think there should be something on here from the good cards blink deck. leech into blink warped the meta about as hard as the cannonball prof x meta. Made decks like Hela or Shang Chi decks irrelevant overnight . You have red hulk but that doesn’t really capture what made that deck obscene. I’d either have blink or 4/2 leech if you’re feeling frisky. Enjoyed the list overall and the content throughout the year!

I think you list is correct-ish. My only placement issue is Madam Web. You are correct but only for like 100 players. She seem to be too big brained for people outside of top 100 I feel like. I could be wrong but as an average player the Madam Web decks strike no fear, however I seen what they are capable of when I watch high level streams

Wave, Sabretooth, Spider-Man, Polaris, Luna Snow, Lady Sif, Hercules, Ghost, Copycat, Beast, Zemo, Deathlock, Corvus are all 3-5s! Why the heck is Nocturne still 3-4? She desperately needs, and deserves, a buff. ProfX should be reverted to prevent movement cards getting into its location. Move and move-bounce are too powerful as it is to be able to get a free win against lockdown decks.

Half of them doesn't have the utility & control tha gives Nocturne with the exception of Zemo, Copycat and in a smaller scale Beast (who needs a deck building around him), so Nocturne is in a fine spot, the other cards needs the stats.

I personally would have put Nocturne and White Widow higher, be cards that"are just good everywhere, and are also the probably best slot in their curve" weights a ton for me asa tempo midrange player, there were months were we just said "you dont know what to put for a T2? just play WW, you dont know what to put for a T3? just play Nocturne, and both coexisted a while. Also yeah Agent Venom was by far more broken than Arishem, but I'll bought your reasoning because fuck Leech

Yo! In your stream yesterday you had a game while playing Thanos where you needed them to play an On Reveal to bump your Gorr over their Thena. They didn’t play one and after the game you said you thought there was a different way to play that may have been a win. Was around the 3 hour, 27 min mark. The play on stream was Thanos left, stone middle, stone right. The alternative line was Alioth left for the on reveal, stone center, stone right. Their Thena would scale them to 31, but +6 to Gorr and the stone gets you to 32. And that swings left. They’d go from 26 to 22 on left, and you’d go from 13 to 26.

its really not necessary. If you start doing that, you gatekeep way more players from playing those cards. The solution is what they are doing, design the card in a way that it wont cause problems in the foreseeable future. In card design, nothing is impossible, you just have to be creative

I would have placed Wiccan at #1 the things I have done with that card is gross. Between beefing up Sunspot to turn 7 playing Ebony Maw and Infinaut in another lane for 27 power was just gross. I hardly ever saw Shadow King Shang Chi or Killmonger as well. My Wiccan deck was 1 of my fastest Infinite climbs in the game. Before the Storm Nerf it had a 77% win rate but now it's down to around 60%.
