Hi Karen, I just wanted to thank you for making so many amazing videos!! I love your organizational videos, your scrapbooking videos, and I loved watching your tour of your craft room! I give you a lot of credit doing all of this living with lymphedema! I too have health issues that leaves me sleeping in a reclining chair at night, instead of a bed and on top of having two neck surgeries (I have degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis and arthritis) I am going to need back surgery! So I can only stand for a few minutes and then need to sit down again. If I’m moving around and not doing too much bending, I can last a little bit longer, but I know how frustrating it is I did want to share with you how I store my ephemera. I have one of those tall drawer units, kinda like the ones from IKEA that have all small drawers from top to bottom but mine has like five or six shallow drawers and two deep drawers at the bottom. What I did was get cardboard and cut it to the same height as my ephemera. I taped it at each end, and in the midlle of the drawer to make dividers in my big deep drawers. Now I have four different sections to store some of my ephemera!! Both of those drawers are full, I also have a couple of Dollar Tree long plastic baskets that I did the same thing too. Just an idea that I wanted to share with you. Thanks again for all that you do, it is very much appreciated!😊🩷🐶

Thank you for sharing the organization tips as well as some of your personal journey. I appreciated the education on Lymphedema. Glad you get to still do some things you love. Your work schedule was brutal! I used to work all 3 shifts (7Ax3P; 11px7A; & 3Px11P) because my job was open 24 hours. A different shift each week. It was horrible. Eventually they changed to creating a squad for each shift. I know I was getting burnt out working all three with one day off in between some of the shifts. I also retired semi-early and don’t regret that. I hope you can continue doing these things you love! That’s what it’s all about! ❤

Karen, I think you’re doing an amazing job with your channel. Please don’t feel any pressure to do more or do anything different than what you want to do. No need to do series if you don’t want or doesn’t suit your scrapbooking style. Keep up the great work!!! Thanks for all you do and share!

Thanks so much Sharon. It's so nice of you to leave me this comment and I don't think anyone is putting pressure on me (except maybe me). I think it's me that wants to do the series and to create more videos but I can't always do the things that I want and I guess i just wanted to share that with y'all. I have to just be content with what I can do. lol ... but it sure is hard sometimes not to wish I could do more.

Karen love how you are storing these little bags in the long drawers. I like working with that shape for those little packages. I have really been in the organizing mood so I am checking out all your organizing videos. I have a problem with my legs, but because I hurt them a few time. My left leg is the worse one, more damage. I do notice sometimes they swell more in the summer if it's humid. I started doing a no inflammation smoothie. That pretty helpful for me. But the thing that really made it worse was gluten. So I am now gluten free, I am so glad they have made thing taste really good over the years. Thanks so much for the organizing tips. I am on to the next ones♥♥♥

Hi Karen, so sweet of you to explain about your limitations. Thank you for trusting us with personal information, you seem like a very sweet and real lady. Just know that whatever you put out is appreciated. After hearing about your professional life, i understand why you do such a great job with your Cricut tutorials!! I've learned a lot from each one of them and look forward to using my Cricut more. I hadn't learned how to use the writing tools and how to use that feature on a scrapbook page - now I'm really looking forward to using that on my next page. Have a good weekend!

Hi Diane ... Thanks so much. I really do enjoy sharing what I love with you all. I'm working on another cricut tutorial so hopefully I'll have that up on my channel soon. lol ... I was going to say "hope you have an awesome weekend too" but just realized it's after 10pm and it's Sunday. Since I've retired, I have trouble remembering which day of the week it is but since I've been home for weeks because of the pandemic, it's been even worse. It helps so much to be able to talk with y'all because at least I feel like i still have contact with the outside world. So thanks again and have an awesome week.

Great video Karen. I really enjoyed hearing a little about yourself. It’s nice getting to know you. I am sorry to hear that you have lymphedema. I used to work at a hospital in the physical therapy department. We had many people that had massage therapy done and had to be wrapped. Glad you are able to keep it under control. I noticed a lot of us crafters have autoimmune diseases also. I have health issue too. Fibromyalgia is just one that I deal with. I had to stop working 7 years ago due to it. I too sit in my chair resting and love watching videos. Hugs, Diane Canny Conklin

Hi Diane ... I'm glad that I finally decided to share some of my story. I'm actually a very shy person and having this KZbin channel has really helped me to be more comfortable with myself. I don't think that I would have had the courage to share this when I was just starting my channel last year. I did months of the massage therapy and wrapping and it was one of the worst times in my life ... to be wrapped in foam and bandages on both legs, not able to take a shower for days until going to the clinic to get rewrapped ... I don't ever want to have to do that again. I noticed that too ... that a lot of crafters have autoimmune diseases and I've often wondered if there was some correlation between being artistic and having an autoimmune disease. I'm so sorry to hear that you have fibromyalgia ... I know that there is a lot of pain with that disease and that's got to be really rough. It seems that life seems is difficult for each of us in all different ways but I do believe that focusing on what makes me happy and what's good in my life is what keeps me going and if I can share some of that with y'all, than that's amazing. Hugs my friend! Karen

I really enjoy your channel and all the videos you are producing. I have tried several different ways of sorting and storing my die cuts. I like keeping some collections together at first either in their packaging or color binders. What I do not like is keeping the very small items with everything, it kind of drives me crazy to dig for the small embellishments. I like to punch or die cut small embellishments from leftover scraps, so I have a billion hearts, stars, circles, hexagons, arrows, etc. I place these in extra small bags and store in my color bins. I like the bins that you switched to using, I think I may order some. Thank you for adding Cricut videos.

Hi Francisca ... so good to hear from you!!! I've been waiting for you to leave me a comment or to send me an email. You won one of the giveaways. Could you please email your address ... my email is kmyagel@yahoo.com. Thanks for sharing how you store your die cuts. Those small embellishments drive me crazy too ... and I also like to take my small leftover scraps and use punches. I keep those in little bins in my Harbor Freight rotating tool caddy ... I probably should have shared that in my video but completely forgot about it. Hmmm, maybe I should do another video because there were some other things that I didn't think about including until after the video was posted.

New subscriber here. Very much enjoyed the video. I'm retired and make lots of cards for the Cards for Soldiers program, do lots of gluing while sitting.,too, have lymphedema and I have too much. I bought like crazy while employed, never keeping storage up to my buying. So, now retired, I'm buying storage solutions.

Hi Lynnea ... thanks so much for subscribing to my channel. Your story sounds so very similar to mine. It's definitely a challenge to get things organized when you have accumulated so much stuff over many years. And, then it's also a challenge to get things organized when you have problems with sitting or standing. lol ... and, I just keep buying more stuff which can make things a bit overwhelming!!! If I'm having a bad day and I'm not up to crafting then I end up shopping online or watching KZbin videos which usually makes me want to go buy some new fun things. So, there's always new things that have to be organized. I've finally come to the realization that my organization is an ongoing project that will probably never be completely finished. But at least now that we are retired ... we have more time to try to get organized. Hugs, Karen 🤗

Hi Buffy ... So sad to hear about your little dog. Thanks for sharing this because I know that I really need to be more careful. I had a scare yesterday when my Mom came by the house and LilyBelle darted out the door and down the street and she made it all the way to a busy street before we were able to catch her. Dogs just don't understand the danger that they are in when they run like that .. it's so funny to see her run as fast as she can and I can almost picture her yelling "I'm free" as she bounces away but at the same time it's terrifying. I'm always so worried that LilyBelle is going to get hit by a car because if there's an open door or an open gate, she just runs for it. I usually will pick her up before I open the door but I didn't do that yesterday and that would have been so heartbreaking if something happened to her. I am definitely going to be making sure to pick her up before answering the door next time.

I love storage videos because I think that's half the fun of scrapbooking. I am finally getting my items that I know exactly where they are located. I store all my die cuts by subject or item. I know if I want a dog, I pull out my doggie book. I've never sorted by color. Not sure why.

Kathleen ... thanks for sharing how you organize your die cuts. I think how you store your crafting supplies is a reflection on how you look for things and I tend to search for things by color more and that's why I've started sorting things by color but I think sometimes that makes it difficult to find something if you are looking for a specific item. So, maybe the answer is to sort both by color and also by subject or type :)

I sort mine by what they are, numbers, letters, words, leaves, tags, basic shapes, etc in snack bags with cardstock inside to help them stand in a clear shoebox (I have 2 of them). I'm going to have to revise it to have specific holidays as categories, then file related shapes in each category. It's a bit jumbled, right now.

I have been looking for a way to organize my die cuts that will work for me. I recently started storing mine in the CD sleeves as well. Seems to be working for me! I would love to learn how to use my Cricut for scrapbooking! What Cricut do you have? Do you have one that you use Cricut design space? I am slowly learning design space. I would love to use it more for scrapbooking! So I will be watching out for more of those videos. I feel your pain with the disability as I have lupus and that limits me quite a bit as well especially at a table. I'll be remembering you in my prayers and watching for some more Cricut videos as well as your others. I always learn so much and enjoy watching them! Thanks for all you share! P.S. Well duh! Thanks again for sharing these videos, I absolutely love your scrap room!
@YesPleasePapercrafts
@YesPleasePapercrafts 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Deb ... I have thought about creating a video on the scraprack but I've had difficulty trying to film it because the scrapracks are so large and even when I tried using a tripod, I had trouble filming it where you could actually see things (either it was so close, you couldn't see enough of the pages or it was so far away, it was hard to see things). I will try to create a video on the scraprack, when I figure out how best to film it and maybe I can get my sister or a friend to help with creating the video. I find that the Scraprack works really well for finding specific things very quickly and so I use mine to store things that are either theme specific (celebrations, pets, travel) or seasonal (Summer, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc.). I think that what I didn't realize when I first purchased the scraprack, is that the cost to purchase enough of the Totally Tiffany dividers and pages to fill it up would be 2 to 3 times the cost (or more) of the actual scraprack itself. I was able to get some of my pages on clearance and also from eBay and then I also use 12x12 page protectors which made it somewhat less expensive, but it is still definitely a large investment. To be totally honest, I love having it but had I known about the total cost of ownership before I purchased my first scraprack, I'm not sure that I would have bought one. Hope this helps. Karen

I am amazed at your stash, mine is so little that it makes me a bit sad. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ellen ... yep, I have way too much stuff ... I have accumulated so much over the past 25+ years. Sometimes I wish I didn't have so much because it makes organizing it all overwhelming and stressful because I can't find things. I wish I could go back 10 or 15 years and tell myself to do more organizing as I think it would be have been so much easier to get things organized as my stash was growing ... so I'm doing things backwards by getting too much stuff and then trying to organize it. So, I think of your small stash as an opportunity because you have time to figure out the best organization solutions as your stash grows ( and, I'm sure it will grow ) and just think about how much fun you're going to have crafting by having all your supplies organized!!!

I love those plastic cases with small cases in them, but my Groovebook photos do not work in them unless they are already torn out of the little books--which removes the date and place from each photo. I really appreciate your videos and love to watch them all. I am glad that my four favorite Tuesday Mornings are from 30-60 minutes away from my town or I would be in serious trouble!

Yep ... that Tuesday Morning gets me into trouble all the time and I have a Tuesday Morning 5 minutes from my house. But it's so much fun to go there because you never know what you'll find ... it's like a treasure hunt. I'm really missing my weekly trip to Tuesday Mornings. Hope things get back to normal soon. Take care and stay safe. 🙂

I use the cd storage sleeves to store my ephemera, but I store it by theme. If I am doing a beach layout, I like to have all the diecuts that might be useful at hand, regardless of color. However, I usually scrap by theme and I know others don't, so my solution would not be helpful to them.

I think that organizing is very personal and what works for me may not work for others and that's ok. I know that there are lots of people that store their diecuts by theme. I also have some ephemera by theme, but I also store some by color and also by manufacturer/collection.

I think you are asking about the storage drawers where I store my ephemera/die cuts? Those are the Deflecto 2-Drawer Stackable Cube Organizers. Here's a link to where you can find them on Amazon amzn.to/3IMc6cR Hope this helps 🤗

I love that you shared a bit about you in this video. Now you feel even more like a scrappy friend. I have wondered what job you retired from, I would have been 90% sure you were a teacher as you are so good at explaining everything. You are also excellent with your video editing and graphic skills. I have a long time friend who has the same condition as you. She has had it from a young age in her one leg, so I do understand what you are going through and thank you even more for being willing to share so much with us. Stay safe, stay healthy and stay home.

I use the tabs and if the sticky is left behind I put baby powder on it . Sometimes my pages tear but I don’t care .

Thanks Melody ... It's good to know what stores have these bins. I hardly ever go to that store. We have an AtHome store but our store is a mess and it makes me crazy to go there. lol ... it's the kind of store where I go in and spend my time putting things in order instead of shopping.
