"I can't with the puppets" not on my GG Quote Bingo Card today.... ;)

I once GM’ed a game where the PCs searched the coffin of a vampire. I used Maze Rats to see what they found and it said a page from a book. The book table then said “etiquette”. So the vampire had been reading a loose page about human etiquette while lying in his coffin so he could fit into society better. That’s a tiny story just from random tables like the ones in Knave and I love something like that 😊

I used the Kn2e tables to create a town the other night. It was the best game prep session I’ve had in years! I can’t recommend this book enough.

I just started a solo campaign with Knave 2e, which I love. I built my starting hex with Sandbox Generator and my dungeon with Dungeon Masters Guide 1e. Monsters and other things I get from Basic Fantasy Role-playing Game, my goto for OSR stuff.

Olde Swords Reign is another great resource like BFRPG. Basic Fantasy is legendary though.

This is a wonderful video! Knave 2e is my go-to game. It is fantastic for solo play. Thank you for covering it.

Hi. Do you play true solo or multiple characters? How do you handle scaling if single character?
@AceneDean4 ай бұрын
@@furalyon845 I play both ways. If I'm playing true solo, I make sure to have a follower that can carry torches and such. For encounters, I cut the number of creatures appearing by a factor of 3 or 4, to a minimum of 1 (of course). Beyond that, everything else flows normally.

This book is such a great resource. I've played the original game but really, I backed this for the additional tables and the accompanying adventures and, of course, MAZE RATS. No puppets? awwww...

Puppeteer could have meant something really different. And not necessarily a mind controlling wizard. Maybe a low-magic user that can animate things to do simple tasks. A necromantic apprentice who's just starting by manipulating the carcasses of small animals.
@MagnificentDevil4 ай бұрын
Puppeteer isn't mind controlling at all. It is the mundane career, so it literally means someone who uses puppets in performance. I think she is just creeped out by puppets.

Excellent as always! Knave, Cairn, and Into the Odd are possibly some of the most "important" TTRPGs. I think Knave 2e was put together with a ton of care. Also the rules summary on the inside cover? Game changer, literally. (and I loathe how over-used that word is) random aside: I tried your inspiration method for rolling the page in a book when you need a nudge. The Conspirators by Dumas has come through for me a few times. Thanks for the idea to do that!

Brilliant video, thanks. Knave 2e is fantasic but I'd only used it running a small group. Helpful to see how you go about using it for solo.

I'm not a fan of Knave 2e, the game. It's clever in ways, but not to my taste. However it has to be the absolute best book of random tables on the market. Better than any book that is exclusively tables. They're so well designed.

I loved your booklet you had printed with LF OSR was wondering if you could offer any help with that process. I am wanting to do something very similar but with my game I created. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Awwww, don't worry GG, Lambchop still loves you. Okay sorry, yeah that was bad. =P Good to see you looking into these last few old school... are they OSR games or just love letters to the AD&D era? Either way I'm definitely going to have to look at these.

Had to confirm I understood your Lamb Chop reference (before my time but ringing a dim bell). That was funny, actually- Anyhow: Knave is OSR and ShadowDark (assuming that is the other thing you refer to) is a stripped down 5E.
