50 year generational. My mother 75 year. Buster coming back, is more than I could’ve hoped for. We’ve had great players in this organization. All with great tools, and ferocious competitors. None ever had the “IT” Buster had/has. Mays had it. Thrill had it. Generational talent that you can’t ever take for granted cause you don’t always get it.

I believe Buster's announcement re-energized the franchise which was badly needed. He will make mistakes learning the job, but his traits as a player(professionalism, intellect and logic) will move the Giants back to a consistent winning team.

Yes, this was a PR move first and foremost. As far as turning it around, plenty of ex star players tried and failed. Michael Jordan? The list is much longer than star player who succeeded in managerial roles after their playing days. Buster needs to be surrounded with good people to be successful. Hope he gets those folks...

Reminded me of an interview in 2010 at the world series. Apparently Buster broke a record with five hits in the game. A reporter told the story of this deed and mentioned the company he shared this record with. I believe there were some hall of famers on that list. Now remember this was Buster Posey's rookie season and he is playing in the World Series and and is now in the company of hall of famers. Well Buster ever so humble and polite said well thank you.

Just found out that Posey fired Pete Putila. Also just found out that Pete Putila was the general manager. He was NEVER talked about, it was always Farhan. Wasn't the GM more of known quantity? Brian Sabean was front and center, right? Baseball is now corporate America, with too many titles running around the complex and no one knows who does what. Whatever.....just sign a big bat in free agency, and if Snell leaves find a decent replacement. If their offense was a little better they would have won closer to 90 games.
@Redpoppy80Ай бұрын
While I completely agree that the Title inflation is ego unchecked and it needs to stop. I don't think the Giants have the players right now win close to 90 games which if this year is any indication, 90 wins will be a must in our division though I never know. I liken what Zaidi did to building Sand Castles. They can look nice in the short term, but they wash away over night or in our case, over a season. That needs to stop, and we need some roster stability to build off of but that is hard because Free Agents are overpriced and over the hill. We were the definition of MID this year and fixing that will require taking risks that might not pay off. I am interested in the off season, but it will likely take 3 years to see any returns.
@user-jv9qz2bu1rАй бұрын
it was very odd that Putila was never mentioned in any context so that how responsibilities were assigned between pp and farina was murky
@feefop9858Ай бұрын
@@Redpoppy80 I agree for the most part, but if Ramos develops further and they find another big bat, you could include Chapman in the "big 3" and everyone can be the 15-20 homer guys. Team defense and ERA between the Dodgers, Padres, and Giants were very close....if this team scores one more run a game over 162, they would won closer to 90 games easily. Get that offense going!!
@Redpoppy80Ай бұрын
@@feefop9858 Yeah, you are right on that one. The team just refused to hit with RiSP. I know it is hard but good teams find ways to either get so many chances that they no one can hold us off. We desperately need to use speed more and steal bases and just put the ball in play with authority. I view Chapman as a sneaky good player that really needs someone better then him to take attention off of him. When other teams know that Chapman is the main threat, he is easy to contain.
