It took him a while but depending on how hungry Knee was to play professionally he would eventually. It’s just Tekken 8 is so much different from the other games and the way you have to play the game. Not to mention just how there’s a obvious difference from the top characters to the others
@cadec2229 сағат бұрын
@@captain_furret What's funny is that if you go and look at pre-Tekken 7 Knee matches, he was playing hyper aggressively! Tekken 5 and 6 definitely rewarded offense more than defense, Tekken 7 is the outlier; it's just that we had Tekken 7 for a decade, and those habits are hard to break.
@gustavogoesgomes186312 сағат бұрын
next update: -bryan has been removed from the game -every time alisa, dragunov, yoshi, hwo, king, feng, eddy and the bears hit you you become unable to use lateral movement for 5 seconds
@Viewer1312812 сағат бұрын
Tekken will let you move but will make their moves track and homing... and ofc they can duck your mids too.
@viniciuslessa348011 сағат бұрын
Haahahahahah I hate when no tracking moves gets me sidestepping... Is it only the "blue traces moves" that should track or am I missing something?
@gustavogoesgomes186310 сағат бұрын
@@viniciuslessa3480 non tracking moves may track to one side, or have slight tracking to both. in the first case, they'll usually all cover the same side in the same character, with few exceptions, that's why we say for example that kazuya is weak to his right (you step him to YOUR left), and jin is weak to his left. however, in kazuya's case, db3 (stature kick) will track to his weak side instead, and d1+2 has slight tracking to both sides, which means you need to sidewalk to avoid it. and for some god forsaken reason strings on t8 now tracks a LOT. sometimes even sidewalking to the correct side has you getting clipped by strings or heat smashes. this, combined with what feels to me as a more strict side step timing, has made lateral movement a lot less reliable in t8, my opinion. also, the game introduced a lot of "forced mixup" situations in which stepping/walking is impossible without getting hit. the smaller step window also makes stepping while negative very hard or impossible, which goes back to the "forced mixup" situation. so yes, at least for me, an intermediate player, lateral movement is WAY worse in 8 than 7

cant compare games tho, bro. Tekken is way more about reading the opponent than other games. In e.g. counter-strike you also have older players, but those are always in the leader role who are there to keep the team calm and read the opponents team to then shot call. Their firepower always takes a big dip with age and thats why that role is the only one where they can play longer and even then firepower is still important, which is why so far 33yo is the oldest at the highest lvl there.

Idk the counterplay to Bryan certainly isnt clear, other having slower moves, except some which are really fast, he does not have any particularly strong weaknesses. Pretty much every move leads into a CH combo so contesting him is risky, he got good gap closer tho
@ButchKumesogut7 сағат бұрын
@@LibertyForAll-l3q Bryan's big moves are slow, linear and very steppable. He struggles big time against turtling, and if you can block hatchet kick on reaction, he has very limited options. On the flip side, he has bad panic buttons and an awful power crush, so he also struggles against +frame rushdown. He thrives in the mid range waiting to snipe a CH, so either get in his face and overwhelm with +frames or turtle up and limit his options.

It was great, but it's going to be very difficult for Knee to have consistent high placements, let alone become dominant, with Bryan when there are characters like Dragunov, Nina, King, Alisa, Yoshi, Claudio... Bryan is excellent, but he has a pretty limited low repertoire and has to work very hard. I hope the characters I mentioned get nerfed. Knee doesn't seem to think Feng is as good as most. I heard him mention in a stream that he thought Feng was "so-so". Joka also thinks Feng needs to win too many interactions relative to others. I'm not sure, since most other players place him highly.

i just hate the 'OMG SIDESTEP THIS GAME SO DEFENSIVE FOCUSED' argument but will glide past the tons of moves that fully catch the players sidestepping and sidewalking or the fact that ive been midcrushed more times and by more characters than the xiaoyu and zafina types, etc. like no shit if you couldnt sidestep anything at all, the game would be a full on, record breaking failure, not just having some dumb shit in the game idk what the twitter or youtube arguments are for this game being mashing-- but my point is why does the game need more of that low risk high reward shit never once did i play tekken 7 throughout the 1,000+ hrs, with all that that game had and thought, "man this is too much neutral and defense, so much interesting interaction, if only there was more 50/50s; Katarina, negan, feng, etc are engaging all of my brain muscles right now" if my point is 'why is --dumb shit that makes defense a task and offense a breeze-- added to the game', the counterpoint doesnt make much sense being 'look, it has what the old games already have' while ignoring when the bullshit happens like, i just want a real reason as to how it all makes the game more interesting in any aspect besides visually (pros that outweigh the cons of adding them). as if im trying to get a new car expecting it to be better than my old one, but it handles worse and they say "look, but it can still drive, so what are you complaining about?" i just have yet to talk about this with someone who favors 8 without it being emotional my points arent an attack on you its only a question about the value and direction of the series

@leonard962411 сағат бұрын
Nah
@SupMaHomies11 сағат бұрын
I disagree. His mixups are reactable and very slow, and his pressure is almost entirely based on mental frames. In T8 the game is designed around aggressive play, and this is an area where Bryan falls short. His heat is great, but the area he actually excels in, which is combo damage and wall pressure, have a very real weak point: They leave the enemy with a LOT of recoverable health. Bryan may launch you for half HP, but 70% of that is recoverable and the only true way to knock that down is using hatchet, which is so slow you risk being counter hit. He also lacks a good armor move, being so slow that often if the opponent uses a move and the armor absorbs it, they can still duck in time to get a launch. He's a great character and when played optimally, like you see Knee do here, he looks great. But he has far too many weaknesses to be classed in top 10. I'd say top 10 would be characters who have great fundamental T8 tools, that require lower execution and have good pokes, where the damage caused is permanent
