I’ve had a knee surgery about 14 years ago and sometimes my knee cap hurts after running or doing a lot of bending. I watched this video years ago and started doing the exercises he showed and I can’t tell you how much it helped me. It reduced the knee pain tremendously and gave my knee the full range of motion I wanted. God bless that doctor for showing us a great way to treat this problem.

This video changed my life. All my life I thought I had bad knees. I remember being 25 years old and having knee pain. I really bought into it because bad knees seem to run in the family. Because of this video I became a runner at 47 years old. I look and feel better than I have in years, thank you!

I used this technique last year, didn't realise my patella was locked up, causing all sorts of pain. Freed it up, worked fine. Just had a recurrence of pain, and a hamstring got tight after golf. No surprise, the patella was locked again. Must remember to do this once a month, so important. Best video on YT?

I replied to my own comment 5 months ago but since I have a long history now of using this technique I thought you all might want to know....At first, I received immediate benefit. It was nothing short of amazing. I did it everyday for several weeks until finally I only needed to do it once or twice a week. Then....once or twice a month when I feel a twinge. My other knee started to act up a few weeks ago. I used the technique a few times and.... complete relief. This is amazing as I was in severe knee pain (for the first knee). Is it dangerous? Probably, if you haven't seen a doctor and had tests run. My tests (including MRI (for possible tears) and fluid extraction (for arthritis) all came back negative for any structural issue. I was sortof at a loss....So I tried it. Like I said, immediate pain relief.

Wow wow .i have had severe pain in the front and back of my knee for a month.Today i tried your technique exercising the knee cap,at first it would not move, after 10 minutes it started to move ,what a relief. Thanks to you dr mandel i will not be taking strong over the counter medication ,which did not give long lasting relief. So happy i found you.

Dr. Mandell you are AMAZING! My pain was behind the knee in the back of my leg. Going up and down stairs hurt. I had to go up and down one step at a time... I tried this procedure one night before going to bed. My leg hurt all night! But in the morning, I could walk down the stairs like normal! A few days later the pain started again and I did this procedure again. This time no pain at night and next day so much better again. I seem to have to do it every few days for relief, but what a difference this procedure makes! Thank you sooooooo very, very much! You are AWESOME! 🙏🏼💖

Worked for me! Read a few comments (people are scared to do it). I agree it's scary at first. This is my takeaway: 1.) Try softly first and check which directions it moves into and which ones it does not. 2.) Try to follow the video with steps. (everything else is explained well) 3.) Be Gentle always! baby steps are the key.

Thank You Doc. I just tried it for the first time and was amazed at how little my patellas moved initially. Stooping was increasingly difficult for some time now so I just avoided it all together. I agree with Shah, the instructions are simple and to the point; easy to follow and the explanations are insightful. Now subscribed; 2 thumbs up!

I had terrible knee pain for about a week and half really painful top of knee above knee cap tried RICE got some relief but still some pain remained especially lifting leg then I came across this video did the release method Sunday night and Monday morning my knee felt better than it has in weeks almost zero pain this video is a life saver!

I had knee pain as long as I can think. Most of the time I forgot about it during my workouts. Some days I could barely walk upstairs or sleep, because of the pain. I tried this exercise and they are GONE. I don't feel any pain anymore, I can do my squats and lunges, without stopping. I was used to the pain so much that I couldn't imagine a life without knee pain. Two weeks and they are still gone and I can move freely without pain! Thank you so much! This means the world to me!

WOW! That's amazing! I can feel swelling in my knees after overloading on leg presses, but no pain. I just worked both knees as suggested here and I feel a difference. I'm going to work with them until the pressure on the knees are gone. Thank you, Dr. Mandell!!!

Thank you so much for this video! I had ankle fracture 2 month ago, and wore boots 6 weeks. After offed the boots, my knee hurt very badly. I worked with PTs, non of them was workings. Thanks god! I found this video and pain was reduced instantly. Dr Mendel should get a Nobel Prize❤❤❤👍👍👍

I have had constant knee pain for the last 4 years. my patella would move to more painful place and less painful places. I was completely helpless over this movement. I first tried this yesterday. For the last 2 days i have had no pain. when my patella moves out of place (due to my leg muscles adjusting to being out of place) i simply pop it back in. I AM SO EXCITED TO BE WITHOUT PAIN!!!!! I couldn't even walk cause my knee was hurting so bad. I did this and Pain is gone. I had spent hundreds in braces and creams and watched countless videos and then this. and no lie it stopped my pain. Thank you for this advice. I've been limping around for two weeks after moving something awkward and heavy. None of the knee bursitis exercises helped. After watching your video I moved my patella as suggested, and in one of the directions my knee "popped" and instantly felt better. I must have displaced it while moving things. A great technique to add to my list of health aids.

Thank you doc! I'm in my 30s and have been suffering from knee pain (with no swelling) for close to 3 years. I tried out all the other videos on KZbin and nothing worked. However I tried this technique before bed last night and woke up with no pain in my knee. There is a slight soreness as if my knee is 'resetting'. I can't thank you enough. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Motivationaldoc Thank you for this video, my knee is out of place and has done the physical therapy exercises I was given to do, my knee is still in pain, swollen twice the size of the other knee. I saw your video and tried to it and when I got up something moved in my knee and the pain level was down, I I walked around for a little in amazement. Thank you! How often should I continue to do this? Should I continue I have been going through this since Feb 2017, 3 months ago I brought pain level from 9 to a 3 or 2 on most days?

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I didn’t actually think this would work but I went ahead and gave it a try. The next day there was an immediate improvement! The day after and there is no more pain at all! I’m shocked! I am in the middle of getting in shape to climb a mountain so my knee really had me worried! Thank you again, so much!!

Kokojam 03 I only did it one time, one night. I doubt it works for every knee problem, but apparently whatever was going on with my knee happened to be the thing that this method helps!

I am also surprised by how this simple trick worked for me too. I had a slight pain on my right knee for 2 weeks. I got the knee pain due to regularly playing badminton without warming-up(I am ashamed to say it, but its true). I watched many video of Patellar Tracking Disorder, and was fortunate enough to watch this one. Gave it a try last night, simple and quick movements in 8 directions and I didn't feel pain while squatting my knee anymore. I agree with @RT Solo, it may not work for all kinds of knee problems. I guess I was lucky as some others in this chat.

Lovely Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Dinanlinson Rocky Position Approach (probably on Google)? It is a good exclusive product for learning how to fix chronic knee pain minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate after a lifetime of fighting got great results with it.

Right knee had been in so much pain for weeks, and getting worse. Was walking with a notable limp by time I saw this. Applied the technique, though carefully...the patella was quite rigid...it doesn't even look as visible as the one on the vid. However, the technique worked like a charm! Feels like I have a new knee!! Wow! Thank you!

I have alignment issues with my knee cap, and get flare ups which I was told is arthritis. It makes it very difficult to bend my leg past about 30 degrees from straight. Normally it takes weeks when a flare-up starts for the symptoms to go away. I tried the tips in the video, and although the results weren't instant, I started to feel a bit better instead of my condition deteriorating as it usually does. I'm not sure about the amount of movement in each direction, but if I feel resistance I just do the 3 presses. I get a bit of crunching when pushing the knee cap towards my foot, but it's not painful. How often is it ok to do this fix? Will I cause any damage if I do it regularly?

WOW! This really surprised me. I have been trying different methods to get relief and just now I did this 2 minute exercise on my left knee. It has been stiff, sore and very painful to move for several months. I now have 100% movement again and it's completely pain free. Suddenly healed? Brilliant technique, thank you, Doctor. :)

There are not enough words to thank you for this video. I have been suffering from knee pain and inflexibility for most of this year. I have been reluctant to seek professional help due to living in a Covid-19 hotspot. I have seen other “patella” videos but for me this is this first one that clearly communicated what to do and how to do it. On the first try I did not feel anything move at all. “Do I really have a patella?” But nevertheless I replayed the video and tried again. Then I felt a shift one way. “There is something there”. I tried the other directions per your instructions. I already feel better and will keep up the good work. Bless you!

All I can say is wow. Since running a marathon 5 years ago I've suffered knee pain that has prevented me running more than a few K's before getting bad paid in my left knee. I was about to go get an injection - when I came across this. I've now done 3 5k runs in the last couple of week, with no pain whatsoever. Hoping to build this up to 10k over the next few months. Thanks man!

this feels almost unreal! I had severe pain on my patellar tendon and it went away right after doing this exercise! I've been dealing with jumpers knee for 6+ months and it's been a quite difficult injury. it's just unbelievable that the intense pain I had just 5 minutes ago simply vanished after following this technique. Hi Jamie, when you applied the technique on yourself did you use the thrust method on all eight angles? That being both sides vertically, both sides horizontally and both sides diagonally! Great to hear you found relief! Thanks for taking my question!

@@petervella Hi Peter! Not to all angles equally since I realised that my kneecap had a good range of motion in some of them (like 5 if I recall correctly). But in my case, which is on my right knee, I quickly noticed that the kneecap didn't move much when pushing outwards (to my right). That is, from my left to right horizontally →, and also to the diagonal angles outwards down/up ↘ ↗ . There I did most of the thrust technique. Although I think it would’t harm doing it in all directions. I strongly suggest you looking at this other video where Dr. Mandell moves the kneecap without doing the thrust technique explained on this one. Besides, it shows a “cross fibre massage” that has also helped me: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJe5qKtpbauNhpo I’ve been doing these techniques/massage almost daily, and the pain hasn’t come back. I'm playing tennis, riding the bike and working out 5-10 times per week combined without issues. Excellent explanation of how and why a patella tracking problem causes pain and what can be done about it. The orthopedic surgeon I saw for my pain and swelling didn't explain it this well. Thank you.
