If it wouldn’t be weird as hell, I would play the story as I walk down the aisle. The story makes me cry every time but it’s resonates within and captures the feeling of love. Maybe I can throw bits in to the vows😂

I've noticed that a lot of his music uses a very similar melody. 'Open The Kingdom', 'The Grid' and 'Satyagraha, Act II: Confrontation And Rescue' are good examples. Those sound like 3 versions of the same song.

This miracle of love evolves for me as time passes as did my love, Susan. She is gone now ten years; too soon. I sense her in the breeze as the leaves shimmer in the last rays of the day and the coming of long shadows. I know we will rest under the trees when I cross over the river Jordan. Hallelujah love is eternal.

I never tire of listening to this. Don't think of the literal meaning of the words, but regard them only as human voice sounds, just another form of music. The blending of the simple repetitions becomes hypnotic, magical, soothing, and the "love story" at the end is simply beautiful.

„Without you I have no reason for beeing“ - I‘ve felt this sentence as my girlfriend broke up with me half a year ago. I never felt so empty and lonely in my life. Its was a phase in which I questioned every decision and goal that I‘ve ever made and set. It drove me crazy and made me ill. Im on my way to recovery. But that way is still challenging me. Even if I will not aknowledge those challenges at the time they appear.

i don't know why everybody in tears from this music.. including myself. they so natural and simple. After Glass's dad went to premiere of the opera, he never spoke with Phillip again.
@ozgurdegirmen90468 жыл бұрын
İs that true? His dad? İf true why?
@michaelmartin49108 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure that's exactly true. Do you have a source? Most accounts say his father didn't speak to him for years because Philip married a Gentile but they eventually reconciled. His father, Ben Glass, owned a record shop and was always an advocate of new and avant garde music.
@h.vendelssohn71147 жыл бұрын
Wow. That would be sad, but funny in a way, if your own parents would never talk to you again for a musical composition. I doubt this is true as I have not read this anywhere.

Sorry, but I'm not a huge fan of this. It's forcefully progressive in the sense that it feels inauthentic; stagnant as fuck, repetitive as fuck. To me, this king of minimalism is FAR from 'genius' of any kind. I can't take this piece seriously. I totally understand that other people CAN enjoy progressiveness like this, but it just doesn't do it for me. I'll be listening to Tchaikovsky's 6th if you need me.

Fubblegum Official Yo YOU are the one!
@bce51509 жыл бұрын
Fubblegum Official I hate it. Sorry. I do really like some of Philip Glass' work.... but this is garbage IMHO. Totally agree with it sounding forced and inauthentic. It's a hodge podge - a piecemeal.. (And that's NOT me disgarding this style -- because I do like some of his other stuff and other minimalist compositions). A ruse to elicit an emotional response.

Applause and whistling at the end An audience should give time to let the 'end' mean something, instead, too often it is almost as if its a competition about who claps and whistles loudest and first !! I have been to so many concerts where just a few moments of comprehension of what you have just enjoyed would be so appropriate instead of crashing into rapturous applause which on occasion can be so destructive of the atmosphere created by the piece just performed
@194decibels4 жыл бұрын
Maybe they disagree with you.
@username77777713 жыл бұрын
This is why Classical music is seen as elitist and not accessible. There's no "appropriate" way to respond to a work of art.
@natelogos76623 жыл бұрын
Outstanding performance. Deeply emotional. But I question the choice for the camera and the audio mix to focus on the librettists. I always felt like the spoken word bits were background.
