If paying 2 starting centers is too much is trading Mitch a possibility to free up cap space? Maybe trade him for picks so theres no returning salary? I dont know enough about how the financial side works.

I'm sure they could find plenty of suitors in that case, but it's probably more likely they include him as a salary piece with Bogi in a big trade than just offload him to avoid the tax or something

Knicks get Mikal Bridges, Nick Richards Hornets get Mitch Robinson, Ben Simmons, 2-1st from Knicks Nets get Miles Bridges, Bojan Bogdanovic, Davis Bertans, 3-1st from Knicks Knicks complete their Nova Knicks, would free cap space to resign IHart, and get a great back up big on a team friendly deal. Hornets get a top 10 center (when healthy) which they sorely lack and 2-1st. I’m not sure if Miles wants to stay in Charlotte, so at least the Hornets would get some value back. Nets get Miles Bridges in a sign & trade, he is 2 years younger than Mikal, has high upside, and better than Jalen Green (who Rockets proposed in a trade with Bk). They’d also rid themselves of Ben Simmons and waive Bogi and Bertans, freeing up nearly $30m in cap space, which they’ll need to avoid the luxury tax, after resigning Claxton and Cam Thomas. Most importantly, they’d get at least 3-1st round picks from the Knicks. Everybody wins!

I know you don't like my plans but I'm just going to State it here for the record I will sign Klay Thompson for a 3-year deal team option on the third year have Donte win six man of the year coming off the bench I'm not paying I heart north of 16 million I will let him walk and sign Kevin Love for less than half with a 2-year team option on the second. They can either sign and trade him and get SOMETHING back, or he can just walk and they get nothing. This assumes he wants to leave of course, but indications seem to be he won't stay there this offseason

Appreciate the love! I'll try my best to give a quick explanation for you rq (but will prob dive into it more in a future ep) So basically George is a FA. So teams with cap space (i.e. Philly, Orlando) could just throw a ton of money at him and sign him outright potentially. But should he hit FA and go "I really wanna join the Knicks," LA could choose to facilitate a sign and trade to get something back for him leaving, rather than get nothing. The Knicks could achieve that despite being over the salary cap by including some of their existing contracts to send to the Clips in exchange for George's new contract. Or George could opt into the final year of his contract strictly to facilitate the trade to the Knicks and then sign his (larger) extension once he's traded, which is probably what would end up happening. So the cliff notes on how it would probably happen... 1. George opts into his final option year worth about $48 mil, 2. The Knicks trade a package that could look like Bogi/Mitch/Jericho/Jeffries/one of the players they select at 24/25 plus maybe a first rounder, 3. Once George is a Knick, he inks an extension to add onto that final option year, which they'd agree to prior to the trade

Dusappointing that you didn't cover the Bogey situation, as it's partially guaranteed, so still fuzzy to me...

Definitely something that could be covered in a future episode! But didn't find it particularly worth covering as one of the biggest things for the offseason because I think it's extremely likely the Knicks don't exercise the ability to non-guarantee Bogey so they can potentially use his salary in a deal over the summer or next season. If anything that maybe would be something for a team trading for him to consider to save some money if the Knicks made a draft day deal It's also pretty easy to understand too: His deal for next year is worth about $19 mil. If the Knicks (or another team) decides to cut him before 6/28, they can do so and only guarantee $2 mil of the deal, so cutting him would only incur a $2 mil hit on the cap for 2024-25 instead of the $19 mil if they guarantee the contract. That's the whole situation in a nutshell

It was the $2 million guarantee that was getting me, and I really like Bogey, so I would have wanted to keep him for over 2, but much less than the 19 million.. I'd REALLY Love it if we could use him and his salary, to send back to Utah, with Julius, and even maybe Deuce, for Lauri Markennan. Don’t be afraid to say it… if we’re re-signing Hartenstein we need to TRADE MITCH. He’s still a valuable asset to playoff teams. Look what Dallas did this year with Lively… save the $, trade Mitch for a more practical rotation piece, and draft his replacement to learn behind Hartenstein. Can’t commit that much to both OG and Mitch if we wanna avoid the pitfalls of this year.

I just don't like the 48 minutes stuff with Hart or guys playing 43-48 minutes consistently. Just tone it down a little. 40 minutes is enough and stretch it sometimes or a little less sometimes but not from game one until the end of season.
