We are not winning a championship with Precious as our center. Mitch will not last. Detroit's protected number 1 is not worth much to Utah, but to a tanking Detroit in a good draft year is very valuable. Simms + Det number 1 a couple of number 2's should do the job. Duren/Mitch/Precious might just be enough. Duren fits Thibs model of a center with high upside.

Except the chances of that pick going to the Knicks are very low, as I believe it is top 13 protected. So, the Pistons are going to be able to keep it anyways. And NO, that pick, and a player the Pistons will not have interest in, plus some more 2nds will not “do the job”. The rumor is the Pistons might use Duran as the key part of a Ingram trade. Why the Pistons would do this is beyond me.

Knicks choked in offense in play offs when Brunson could not avoid burnout . So need another offensive option. Sengun opens everything for Knicks. Imagine pick and rolls with Brunson and how they would confuse the opponents in offense. Sengun was the third best defense player on Rockets and Rockets was top 10 defensive team in the league. Mikal, OG and Josh are already top 15 defenders so why would you add another one when you desperately need another option on offense. However, there is nothing NY have Houston accept the deal.

If Mitchell Robinson is included in that trade, then the Knicks will be back at square one requiring ANOTHER center to back-up Sengun. Right now the Knicks need an additional center either for the bench to back-up Mitchell Robinson, or as a starter with Michell Robinson coming off the bench.

For context, Isiah Hartenstein and Mitchell Robinson entered the NBA in the same 2018 draft year, but Hartenstein has only played 2 more regular season games than Mitchell Robinson. IHart has played 322 regular season games while Mitchell Robinson has played 320 regular season games. Also, Mitchell Robinson’s injuries has been CONTACT injuries from actually playing defense and relentlessly fighting for rebounds, and landing awkwardly on someone’s foot…OR being purposely injured by dirty players like Joel Embiid who grabs his ankle as he (MRobinson) goes up for a dunk. Remember, Mitchell Robinson played in the 2023 playoffs series against the Cavs and totally manhandled both of the Cavs centers (Jarrett Allen and Mobley). And when he went down with injury on November 2023, most people thought that the Knicks was doomed because no one had faith in IHart at that time. Just reminding everyone.

That was what he was there for…the paint protecter, which mostly forced opponents to take tougher shots from the perimeter. The Knicks did not need him to be a scoring center. Also, you’re factually incorrect: Mitchell Robinson’s peak PPG is 9.7 PPG (career is 8.0 PPG)…his peak FT % is .600 (career FT average is 0.52)…and his peak APG is 0.9 (career APG is .6). Btw, you were conflating his playoffs average (with limited playoff games) with his career numbers.

Never 5 on 4. Because his offensive rebounds at a high rate. Often getting double teamed to stop him from getting a rebound, that leaves wings open. You don't watch the Knicks. His rebounding is a legitimate threat. He contributes about 16 second chance points for his team and that's not counting the little 6 points he scores himself!! That production plus his defense, makes him very valuable.
