The cima knife is amazing. Can't beat it for the price. It's a beast
@vibeslide7 жыл бұрын
I'm using my CIMA as a cheap beat-on knife for 3 months now and i'm pretty happy with it. It would even be a nice EDC knife if the sheath was better. The edge holding is somewhat comparable to the condor bushlore from what i can tell and it's also tough as nails and rather easy to sharpen. For 20€ it's incredible good value. The build quality is surprisingly good, too. Would throw money at communists again.
@MrAndrewmcgibbon7 жыл бұрын
Jeff, My Idea for knives like this is at $15 this is a great knife to learn hand sharpening. Repeatedly dull the knife and sharpen it. you can use it as a shill builder on a few things like fire making, sharpening, etc.
@djaksfred26755 жыл бұрын
The RAT 3 costs between 100 to 110 uk pounds the the cima only 20 pounds. its nice to have an original, but, i carnt afford the RAT 3. ive used the Cima 1 for just over a year, its served me well. thank you for the review.

Not sure I would call this a "copy". being a completely different steel, way thicker, heavier, and longer, but similar in style makes it at best "inspired" by the Rat3. Still, planning in getting one. At $16 you almost can't lose.

The Cima is a lot of knife for $16 period! Great review thanks for being honest. Jeff I don't believe for a minute that you wouldn't buy the cima, It"s just too good a value and you are a smart man! Your name is cutlery lover not overpriced cutlery snob! A reasonable man like yourself who works very hard for his money can appreciate "high end" functional art cutlery as well as well made economical "common man" cutlery. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The fact that the CIMA has a longer handle is a huge improvement over the RAT 3. The RAT/ESSE are basically three finger knives....

But isn't they Esee 3 slightly longer in the handle than the Rat 3? So the clone would be of the esee 3...

Jeff...I am glad that you got around to talking about the CIMA-1. I bought one a few months back after waiting on Gearbest to replenish their stock. The knife and the price are okay/good, but I think that there are better choices. I found the jimping to be like a cheese grater and the knife particularly heavy. The sheath is nothing special, but what bothers me the most is that the handle scales are slick and slippery. I don't remember if they are supposed to be Micarta, but if they are, it is a poor representation.
@GunnarThe1980sMan7 жыл бұрын
I have the CIMA-1 and it is a grate camping knife. Since it is so heavy it feels very good in the hand. if you can sharpen a knife I recommend this knife
@ScottieG596 жыл бұрын
The CIMA-1 7Cr17MoV may be a little softer than higher carbon steels, but the chromium content puts it well into the stainless steel category. That may be attractive to those less inclined to frequently clean and oil their blades.

Competition is good for the consumer. I just bought the CIMA for $18. If I loose it in a two weeks it was worth the purchase. I can't say the same about the others options. I'm not an elitist when it comes to tools. I want a tool to be durable and effective without having to worry about damaging, loosing or breaking the tool. Its hard to believe there isn't a great knife under $50 (especially when china is in the game). For all functional purposes the CIMA (aka el chinito) makes a durable and effective survival/bush knife.

I know this video's a few years old but I believe Cima is referring to a summit or peak (Cima in Spanish directly translates to that) since there appear to be two mountains behind the branding on the blade. I imagine just a marketing attempt to make the brand seem outdoorsy.

Cima means the top of a mountain in Spanish. Not sure why they decided to call it that, but it's a cool name. Both good knives! Obviously a bit better steel on the RAT 3 for the 1095 but the heat treatment on the Cima seems to be decent for what I've heard, so I guess it's hard to beat for the price. It works as a good work knife that you can use without minding it too much.

I agree finger choils suck as most are for scrawny fingers not fat/large ones that go with big/wide hands. For me the larger handle and far less in price (some of us have far more restricted fixed incomes) makes this a reasonable buy. Especially for a trunk/truck/beater knife. Thanks for doing the comparison and for all the good vids you do. Please keep up the good work. ol greybeard dino ; ,- ) >

Seems to me the CIMA-1 might be a good knife to try if you're WONDERING about getting a fixed blade like the ESEE-3 or RAT-3. If you really like it, THEN go for the Genuine Article. If you don't, . . . oh well, at least you're not out $75 to $110.

Timely comparison. I just ordered a couple of the CIMAs on GearBest. I'm a knife nut, but I also like a good beater blade and a bargain, and this fits both those categories. In fact, the mid-grade stainless steel may even be a bonus, not so much for jungle survival, but for for my EDC use, which includes a lot of food prep. We'll see how it pans out.
@MrPirreE7 жыл бұрын
Dont agree that the plate with beltclip on the Cima should be on backplate to save some grams. As it is now i can screw it off and that gives me options of carage. On of this options is to use the cord and cord lock that comes in package to thread in revets of the sheath and wear it scout style. And if it is a clone even if dont look exact the same then is also example Cold Steels parangs and katanas clones...

@Imightberiding7 жыл бұрын
The round cut out at the base of the blade is to facilitate sharpening the full length of the blade. People always assume it is a place to put your finger for choking up on the blade. It is in front of the finger guard & not a safe location for fingers. Sure, you can place your finger there for finer tasks but that is not its primary function.

I bought that knife because of the grind and handle. But why cant they put 440C steel into something decent looking like this?! I didn't know it was a knock off when i bought it.. I dont understand why the chinese can't make their own designs with full flat grind and composite\G10 fat handle. It would be nice if they changed the colors and skipped the finger choil so it wouldn't be a copy also. Have anyone tested the hardness of this steel or have a comparison to another steel?

It wrote down the wrong numbers, I just looked it up. it was 8CR13mov used for the knife I had, which i found to have considerably lower performance than 440c, which is nothing stellar to begin with. 7cr17mov is considerably lower performance than 8cr13mov. There's a very good reason for that price.
