2:58 - "You change the role. First he thinks you are the prey, the victim, but once you make him panic, now he becomes the victim." 👊🏽🔥 Awesome advice and way of thinking, because the SCUMBAGS that murder, rob and violate innocent people don't fear the police, judge or prison, we as must then make them fear us, who they think are their prey or their victims. 👊🏽🔥

I have a request to Maul: Can you make a demonstration video on how to handle a person swinging their knife randomly and crazily, please!
@kobked-x2 жыл бұрын
in the beginning, one must train a more formal movement system in order to learn the fundamental basics of how humans move, react and how the art flows. In time with a lot of training, the adjustment to erratic attacks will just happen naturally because in actuality no motion is as erratic as it may seem, it all has a goal, a target if you will and after enough training you can see the intent in the motion before the attack even happens and so your responding movement will be accurate and effective, trust the art, its much older and wiser then we mortal humans are. Try it, you'll like the results!

I really like this technique, but I got one question: people like you build up muscle memory, that you get so fast with strikes and weapon attacks, that I'm pretty sure that even someone that is less trained than you gets too fast for you to react to his attack. What's your tactic when you meet someone that is a trained fighter too? If both of you just attack, it would be a horrible massacre for both of you.
@edi98926 жыл бұрын
Candlestick Pattern I think that there is more to it. Action is always faster than reaction, thus you could only react to lesser opponents and dominate like this. If two experienced fighters face each other, they probably try to avoid mutual assured destruction. This means that they will try to outmanouver, misallign or bait the opponent so that they get either an opening to attack without being attacked or slow down the opponent so that they can react to their attack in time. It's hard to see, but there are many subtleties hidden even in a plain boxing match.
@mattjennings58646 жыл бұрын
edi, the techniques you saw are developed to counter trained attacker and they didn't pop out of Maul's imagination only yesterday but improved upon for hundreds of and a thousand years from experiences, traditions and surrounding environments! It works against a trained killer much less an untrained run-of-the-mill mob! Besides, SSBD ain't static but dynamic; it provides you with multiple ways to defend yourself! Don't have any doubt! Just bear in mind, Silat namely SSBD works around the principles of body mechanics, flows, footworks and reference points as well as distance and arc/angle of attack! Just review all the videos on this channel to learn the basics of Silat and you probably can create a new move to call it your own! ^^

@Maul5656 жыл бұрын
John Beaver a trained martial artist would understand the difference between teaching and fighting. Of course this is choreographed, its the same moves shown over and over again, slowly and explained, the goal is to teach, this is a short clip from a teaching seminar. Nothing on the description says it “real”.
@persada59137 ай бұрын
Don't waste your time watching any martial arts videos since obviously you won't learn anything with your lack of foresight. When someone threatens you then fight the knife guy in anyway you like if you dare; if you're fighting a skilled knife wielder like a Silat master then you're dead already dude! By the way, do you think these martial arts just popped out of thin air?! Of course they were born out of actual combats and fighting. What you see here are actually a demonstration when two Silat masters are fighting one another. If a Silat master fights some average joe, the fight will end in no time.

Drills like this are very good for discipline but please do not make the mistake of believing it will help you in any way against an armed assailant. If somebody is teaching you how to defend yourself against a knife attack, ask them the following questions: 1. Have you ever defended yourself against a knife wielding attacker whose intention was to hurt you? 2. Were you able to apply the techniques you teach your students to subdue the attacker? 3. If no to both of the previous questions, do you know anybody who HAS successfully defended themselves against an attacker with your techniques? 4. When doing so did you get cut and if so, is being cut a part of your training? If the answer to all of those questions is NO then you should be aware that while it is fun to take part in drills like this, you should never under any circumstances attempt to use these techniques against an armed opponent whose intention is to harm you, you will get hurt and maybe even killed. Read about what really happens in a knife attack, most of the time the victim only survives the attack if they run away. If they do have to fight off the attacker they will use an improvised weapon to keep the attacker at a distance. The scarce examples of people successfully defending themselves against a knife empty handed are ugly and the defendant ALWAYS gets cut, often suffering permanent damage. So despite what the disclaimer at the beginning says, don't worry about what harm you might do to other people, worry about the harm that might come to you if you mistake what happens in training for real life.

To Candlestick Pattern: The hunam body has limited biomechanics, there are no secrets in martial arts. I do not need mystics I am very experienced and honest man. There are no bad or perfect martial arts, all martial arts are unique - they have own strong and weak sides. When somene say that one is good another one is bad it means that all about politics and defending own business. I do martial arts more than 33 years, I am former international level fighter, I believe to my experience and I can say that all about individual mastery and fight experience. Martial arts are just a tools, the fight is the only expert who can say who is master for certain moment and certain place. You say that karate, taekwondo and kung fu is as film as some fantastic unrealistic way to fight. Ok, show me the real fight of any silat practinioner, may any fight of Maul? I see only demonstrations, show me your fight? I can show you a lot of full contact fight of karate and taekwondo men. I also can show you my realistic full contact fights too.If some martial art declare secrets it is also mean that it is a secta with brain washing. There is only one secret, want to learn a fight, do a fight. Fight is the best teacher who can teach you the true and repair the brain in realistic way. I am waiting to see the fights of "masters" of secret martial arts.

Vidadi Hajiyev you want to see silat fights or tournaments, youtube search Silat Olahraga, One Silat. This is a clip from a teaching environment, no one is putting a gun to anyone’s head to train with Guru Maul. They are all adults and experienced martial artists, they came with their own free will.
@VidadiHajiyev6 жыл бұрын
I know well what this clip about. I also saw that silat fights and many others. This is a sport silat styles similar to contact karate and taekwondo just using throws but those fights not on same high level as professional mma. I do not offense silat or Maul I have respect to both. Guru Maul talanted master and professional instructor, if I have possibility I would come to learn from him and maybe asked about friendly training sparring. Please, read my answers to Bruno Orozco comments and you will understand why and whom I wrote above comment. And of course it will be interesting for me to see some full contact sparrings of Guru Maul it would recieve only sincere respect not only from me, also respect from all other who seeking true in combat.

@mattjennings58646 жыл бұрын
apparently hajiyev, people like you are the cause of world misery, turbulents and anarchy because all they do is picking a fight with someone and ignore all the rule of law! I suggest you promote reconciliation, peace and harmony instead of challenging someone to a fighting match just to prove something! Leave all the fight to the army and law enforcement while you just do your best to avoid confrontation not looking for one! But, if you really want to pick a fight then go fight the army special forces! Let's ses if you come out of it in one piece! ;P ^^
