Take a look on my Shop: www.themetalis...
I'm not a knife maker but I think this is a very cool knife. I saw a sketch of a knife like this years ago and back then i thought it would be a cool project (If somebody knows the artist please comment)
So I just tried it.
I'm very satisfied with this project. I also did very well with the handle in the form of a bone, the process is called Tig Brazing. The blade isn't hardened steel because I wasn't sure if it would have to do with all the welding. I welded a hard application to the cutting edge. Which is really very hard and sharp.
I noticed a few things about the construction of the knife that I would do differently next time.
I am very satisfied with the result. again a nice piece for my collection.
thanks for watching
greetings Dirk

Type of rod u used on blade?? I think this old Tony tried the "hardened" rods. But u think er80sd-2 may work? Prolly not that well. Idk lol never made a knife. Awesome as always brother!

Great project for a show piece, how about structure of metal due to excessive amount of heat ,tig welding
@russargabright
@russargabright Жыл бұрын
Exactly what I was thinking, too much heat it will never hold an edge and probably be brittle.

The hard application on the cutting edge is relatively forgiving. The rest of the knife is normal steel. It wouldn't have been possible otherwise

INCREDIBLE Level of detail 😍 Great project and Craftsmanship. How many hours you need to finish this from scratch to end result? This is really a masterpiece of work 🥰 And really no more art videos? Are you plan other content or is it a matter of the time the channel needs for the video-projects? The video itself is extraordinary good too. I like the the break with the music and the rest clean from sound as usual 👍 The camera view is great too with this slide-motion. I didn't get it yet how you make it. Maybe it is a hanger from above, that circles around. But it looks awesome for footage 💯 Thank you for the videos in advance and on the next weldend i have to take a closer look on the new projects 🥸😉🙏

Thank you 😊 the art video doesn't perform nearly as well as the technical video. I even believe that this is rather negative for my other videos. Y T is changing a lot right now.... I'll probably have to make a separate channel for the art videos. Yes, the music actually came that the sound was broken on a few recordings and then I thought I could just try it 😅 The camera is hanging on the ceiling 😊

What was that Ballitsol kit? And was that silicon bronze filler rods for the handle? I've only ever run that through a mig machine
@trashes_to_treasures
@trashes_to_treasures Жыл бұрын
I think the Ballistol (Brand name) kit was cleaner, cold blue and universal oil. And yes, it most certainly was silicon bronze filler on the handle. This is also available for tig welding. Usually, we use CuSi3 or CuSn6 here in Germany… but maybe Dirk finds your comment and can answer himself. Hope my comment helped a little at least✌️😎
