I seen one of these at a knife store and was extremely excited to get my hands on it. the detent on the knife was so hard I had to use two hands to open it, and I am a jar opening machine. the owner said he called microtech and they told him it just has to break in.

+cutlerylover I modded my clip on my DOC with a dremel. If you take a wide piece of leather and clip the knife to the leather you can round it off in a couple of minutes without messing up any anodizing. Also Striders are ground with the swooping plunge to make it more durable for prying tasks whereas a Spyderco (I own a lot of them and enjoy spydercos) will break at the plunge because it creates a weak point at the 90 degree plunge. +TheApostleP talked about this in his last review of a Strider.

Hey Jeff I know you used to live close to the New York Pennsylvania border, I'm not sure where you are now but there is this really neat little family run business called JT knife shop up in Port Jervis/ Matamoros. it's really cool I've bought a few midtechs and some production folders from him, he's got some cool knives. I think if you are at all close to that area you should go check him out and if I recall right the last time I was there he had a few benchmade 42s😉

When I first saw the Select Fire I thought it was ridiculous looking. Then I saw one in person, held it and changed my tune. I ended up buying it and it turned out to be fantastic performing.

@E1337N3SS9 жыл бұрын
Not sure if it makes sense, but this is one of those things that I WANT to want. It looks awesome, but there's a LOT that turns me off when I'm close to pulling the trigger. The skateboard tape looks tacky, there's just a bunch of stuff that adds weight that I don't think is needed, the stupid microtech special snowflake hardware and the stupid pocket clip... But I keep coming back to it. That blade shape is beautiful, the anoed aluminum looks awesome, I love forward finger choil and it's nice and chamfered, and the thumb stud isn't an afterthought... I just don't know if it would ever have any desire use this over my 0560 or my Southard.

I have seen larger people who can't be active because of their weight, those people are the ones who really have to lose weight. You can have your ring stretched a little at a jewelry shop if you wanted. Or leave it as is and use it as an incentive to drop a couple of lbs.

did you see the apostle p review this? he called the clip a f*** you clip. between how high it rides in your pocket and how much it hurts your hand, plus the fact that BOTH DESIGNERS' NAMES are etched into the clip, like John Hancock on the declaration being like "what, come at me. you won't." lol. happy birthday brotherman! one other thing, your criticism of the model name isn't harsh, I think it's appropriate. God forbid you happen to carry that knife on a day you need to defend your life, then in court you're made out to be the aggressor bc the prosecutor thinks you went out that day looking for beef with some mortal kombat killing tool in your pocket. thoughts? anyway, keep up the good work man. love your channel.

I really like my production DOC, in most grips the clip falls between my fingers or into a void in my palm too so it fits my hand really well, eventually I'm going to have the clip customized so it doesn't stick out as much though. The detent on mine was ridiculously strong when I first got it to the point I could barely flip it open unless I had gloves on. I have a callus on my index finger from flipping knives but still I could barely open it and it bruised the hell out of my finger from trying to break it in... Once it was flipped a few hundred times and had a chance to loosen up the action got a lot better and fires out now. Still has a strong detent but I tend to prefer that over a weaker one anyways. I'm planning on picking up one of the custom Anthony Marfione versions with carbon fibre handles, bronze hardware and a DLC blade to match my bronze and satin DLC bladed Anax fairly soon. Definitely a badass knife, the compound grind is a nice touch as well.
