Question: The Buck 110 was introduced in 1964, a classic, Buck makes other folders but the 110 remains the same 50+ years later. Of the current modern production knife companies, which of their knives has the best chance to become an unchanged classic and still being sold in 50 years?

oops left a question on FAQ #1, I should probably put it here Brand new to the knife world and trying to learn as much as possible before buying a few started knives. I was wondering if you have already done a video on types of steel, I often hear this type will hold an edge better or this will last longer but I am unsure what the exact pros/cons are and how the different types stack up against each other in performance/durability. I would even appreciate just a website or company that you think does a good job of thoroughly and correctly explaining the differences. THANKS!

Question: I recently bought a Kershaw Bareknuckle and I'm having a hell of a time opening it. The action seems fine, I'm careful to keep my fingers off the lockbar, but the blade just does not want to budge when I hit that flipper. However, once I finally apply enough force to bruise my finger and open the knife, it snaps open very well. I think the detent is too hard. How can I fix this without screwing up the otherwise very nice knife?
@knifecenter4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes we have encountered some that are a little stiff, but they tend to break in with time and flips. Also make sure your fingers aren't squeezing the lockbar when attempting to flip. If it really is stuck, you can contact our customer service team: support@knifecenter.com

For me, button locks are the most fidgety. Protech malibu, (when they finally release more), or mordax are two pricier options. For less money, the Real Steel Griffin is a very smooth budget button lock. I'll add spyderco knives with either the compression lock or the cage lock.

About five years ago, when I decided I wanted to carry a knife, I got a Rat 1 in aus 8, the D2 version wasn't made yet. I've since got a D2 model and agree it's a good choice. I thought I'd get one decent knife and be done with it. I've now acquired approx. 120 knives with no signs of stopping. 😉👍

Somebody splain to me the obsession with G2 over FRN. Do folks have trouble with the frn breaking, shattering, falling apart?
@abc456f4 жыл бұрын
I assume you mean g10, not g2. For some people, frn gives them a feeling of cheapness, plasticy. Some companies do their frn differently and have less of that plastic feel. I like Ontario's frn on the rat models and the utilitac 2. Cold steel's frn feels less cheap to me as well. Also, some frn can have quite a bit of flex to it, Benchmade bugout for example. Benchmade started using a new material, CF elite, which is a molded polymer with strands of carbon fiber. It doesn't flex, has a nice texture, and looks really cool, imo.
@elconquistador984 жыл бұрын

Hello D.C.A., Sorry about that, all I have is a not-so-smartphone, and the "DADGUMB auto correct" will change what I type and knowing what I typed and what is sent may be different, especially when I "forget to proof it" before sending! (Glad to have it since I may mispell something) That happens a lot when texting, as my friend knows what's happened when he see's "DAGNABIT!!!" following the previous text! "HOLY SMOKESCREEN BATMAN"!!! That makes me angry when it does that and well, I guess I should be glad this isn't a voice type thing, since some of the words said when I find out that it did it, some might not wanna read!!! Oh bwt, my Chiropractor asked me what I was going to do for the 3 day weekend, I replied: Doc what do you mean, on my income I can't even afford to pass gas, I have to "Destitute"! (Destitute = Desti-toot)! That's the weird thing about my head, it'll see/hear something, 10ish seconds later I'll find out about the joke (all of which are repeatable)!!! It began just after my Grandmother died (early '90's). The first was a Mom thought she'd let her 6 y.o. daughter introduce herself when shopping. A fellow approaches stating "my, what a pretty girl you have, what's your name? She looks up and said "happy butt"! He went off, her mom thought it was just a "6y.o. thing". A lady came by and stated the same, getting the same answer, this time after she left mom pulled her aside and asked "you know that you're name isn't "happy butt" so why are you telling them that? She replied "but mommie, I thought that it sounded better than "glad-ass"! (Gladys, which btw was my Grandma's name, and she would've loved it had I got to tell her!) Hope you liked 'em, it's come up w/30-50(ish) so far of which all the jokes a person hears aren't and shouldn't be repeated, there could be 10 (or less) I've heard that were worth repeating: "As laughter is so important, both mentally and physically! Take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 👍👍🙏🏻😇👊 P.S.: About that "convex WS", by looking it appeared to be no different than any other "V" type pocket sharpener. I thought they might have kept that edge shape intact, also I'm with ya on those carbide "V's" (destructV's, that's my take on those, why you might ask? Well my sharpening skills, I can pretty much make a sharp edge "less sharp" after sharpening. (That's due to not having all feelings in my fingers due to Neuropathy, and free equal use and movement in both arms/back. I do have issues; come to think of it I don't have any issues of knife mag.'s!) That's what I have to put up with daily, "Thank the Lord", since it could be worse!!! I'd better stop!
