Collecting small size knives has benefits, the cost is usually less and you can try a type of cover material and see if you like it. If a maker makes a good small knife, which I would think is hard to do well. The larger ones should be even better. People collecting or buying small knives is higher than ones collecting very large ones are. I like both Peanuts and Tiny Toothpicks; I would choose to carry a Peanut more often because of it having two blades over just one.🤔

I just ordered a toothpick and a peanut with the corelon. They look like gems so I wanted them. I lean toward toothpicks but the two blades in the peanut make it handier.

I'd probably be a peanut man ,in saying that I only have two of them,I just gifted my last small toothpick away. I do agree the peanut is a knife I would use more.atb paddy.

Appreciate the thoughts. But have you tried using the tiny toothpick ? The blade looks too severely / deeply clipped to be useful….

I agree. They are better as a pair. I think showing those for two for Tuesday is a great idea.

I guess I think of all traditional pocket knives as collectors knives. I would not get either one for use at work. They do make a nice pare !

Hi Tobias: Those pairings look just great together. As someone else commented, if I’m going to cut myself it’s usually with a small knife. I have really big hands and I tend to fumble when I’m handling tiny blades. That being said, I totally agree that the peanut is more of a user than the baby toothpick. I wish I had invested in more of the Arrowhead series. I only have a Splitback Whittler. Now they tend to be pricier than I can justify.

What can we pair the standard trapper with now? I don't collect either, either, but I prefer the small toothpick. I think it's about the simplicity of having a single blade.

I don't know why but I have been intrigued with the peanut pattern since getting my first one so I could "round out" a particular series of knives so as to have a small knife represented. That was the RR911 in Stoneworx. Since then I've "rounded out" with a Case in stag, Queen in abalone, Frost in frost wood, Old Timer 12OT, and a Western. I have grown to like the smallness yet the versatility of the two blades rather than just one as on the toothpick. Most of my time in the car, at home or about town I have a small peanut, pen, or toothpick in my pocket. I even found a small single blade w/clip to fit in my wallet causing NO bulging of the wallet

I slightly lean more towards the peanut, maybe because of the two blades? i'm not sure. The tiny toothpick is equal capable. Thank you for giving your reasoning on the patterns Tobias.

I’m not a tiny knife fan personally, I do have a couple peanuts and they are nice for what they are, I would like to get a toothpick or two but I’d much prefer the two blade model

As a trades guy, I find it not very pleasant to have to nail pick or pinch my slip joint blade out every time I need it. My hands are usually covered in grease or lubricant, or some sort of grime, and I don’t know how guys can daily carry slip joint knives, even though I love them. My grandpa always carried one…

For me it has to be the peanut. I whittle quite a bit and the case peanut has an amazing hollow ground blade that cuts wood great . So that's my choice. And I do carry a peanut or small swell center dally

My first knife, given to me by my dad in '56, or so, was a copper-colored peanut. I cut myself pretty good with it. Wish I had it today. Pretty sure it was an Imperial when they were made here.

i cant stand tiny knives so the peanut doesnt interest me. the Toothpick knives tend to have longer blades so I've been wanting one but i think i want a larger version than the Tiny T. I've looked at a few but haven't bought one yet.

I have had peanuts on the brain for about a week. I’ve had people ask me about them and of course Mike Curtis tells me how awesome they are and I don’t have one yet. But I’m working on it. I have one tiny toothpick, which your talk of toothpicks intrigued me enough to try. I think the pairing of the two knives is pretty cool. Thanks for helping me begin a possible sub collection, 😂.

Tobias I'm a peanut guy I own 2 by rough rider in red bone due. To knife crime with juvenile delinquents any knife is scary but my barlow has 2 blades a peanut aint as scary as for barlow I get out small blade to do what I need rather than big blade on my barlow that's a hell of a collection you has too fantastic toothpicks too small for me a peanut is small as i go 🇮🇹👍🐾🦊🇺🇲

Hi Tobias!! I am not partial to either of those, but I used to have an Old Timer peanut just rattling around in my car that would actually get a surprising amount of use :)

I own about 10 vintage peanuts, mostly cuz I was still learning about eBay and when I didn’t see a size or size comparison, I would foolishly assume the knife was a 3 1/2 inch 2 blade jack knife. The good thing is that they’re all nice American made knives, in good to great condition. Very usable small knives, even that little 2nd pen blade. The only baby toothpick I have is a white smooth bone by Rough Ryder. I got it cuz I like med and large toothpicks, but I’m not a fan of the thin Turkish clip blade. I’ve seen videos of ppl really abusing these little rough Ryder toothpicks and they hold up quite well. But for me, if I had to pick, it would be the peanut. It’s a great little 5th pocket knife.
