The original was in the 80's at the right time . Today it wouldn't work no matter what . Even back then it only lasted 4 seasons because peoples lost interest ,compared to today show with 10+ seasons . But owning both mustang and trans am in real world the mustang is better in every way. Pontiac is dead the trans am is long discontinued while the mustang is still there from the start to today . Even the Camaro is now discontinued .

I wouldn't own a Rustang even if you paid me😂 I own cars like the transam were I never open the hood until it needs a service. F O R D, Stands for FIX OR REPAIR DAILY!!!!! The Trans am as character which a ford will never have, it's no wonder nobody wanted to watch the reboot show. I will say it again so you catch on, only one Kitt from Knight rider & that's the Pontiac Firebird Trans am!!!!! Now you have a good life further.

So what actually happened to original KITT in the 2008 series? Cuz in the movie Knight Rider 2000, which is apparently non-canon to the 2008 series, KITT had been dismantled. Then Michael first installs KITT's CPU in his 57 Chevy and then later the Knight 4000 car. But in the 2008 pilot movie, we see original KITT's steering wheel and 'KNIGHT' license plate lying around. And we can also just see in the dark what looks like a whole Trans Am body intact.

I don't think they ever answered that. Only that the new KITT 3000 is based on the original KITT 2000 tech but is a new computer, same way the new KARR is based on the original but is not the same entity. I like to think Michael had KITT 2000 transferred to his smart phone. But with the state of FLAG's assets and such, the original 2000 car couldn't be maintained/was no longer in operation.

The grille on this version of the 3000 doesn't match the one in the show. The show car had a Shelby grille, this one just has a stock Mustang grille. The show car also didn't have chrome trim around the grille. I'm guessing this replica started out as a Bullitt edition Mustang. That said, I think this version actually looks a lot better than the one in the show!

I'm sorry, but KITT will ALWAYS BE A POINTIAC FIREBIRD/TRANS AM They tried to stay with it so much, that they even though they couldn't get their hands on a Banshee for KR2000 movie, they still tried to build a replica out of a Dodge Stealth or Stratus base with alot of plastic. I hate that they went with Ford. Imagine if the T/A was still around and they used the Double Bubble hood or a Firehawk... I think they should still use a variation of the new 2023 Tran Am that they still build in FL.

actuality the production approached GM for the new show but they decline like they didn't want to be involved wit KR2000 . The show needed free car and sponsor so yes a brand new car of that time .

If the 2008 show had put the scanner for the 3000 on the grill instead of on top of the hood, it would be a closer competition. But the hood light makes it look like a big glowing nose instead of an eye.

Honestly I think that they had KITT in knight rider 2008, same name because in the 1985 OG show, it meant Knight industries two thousand... so that means the 2008 version meant knight industries three thousand... but I'd prefer 1985 KITT ❤

2000 can handle dirt, asphalt and tarmac in two forms (normal pursuit and super pursuit), 3000 almost had a mech form that made it more formidable with the multiple form, including the pick up form for the rough terrain.

Great seeing them side by side. I'm on a Knight Rider kick as we speak. Just finished re-watching the original (still just as awesome now as it was when I watched it as a kid), and I managed to slog though "Team Knight Rider" for the first time, and am now watching "Knight Rider" (2008). I saw the pilot when it aired, but missed most of its short-lived half-season run because I was working nights when it aired. So, I'm watching it now for the first time. It's actually not bad at all. Still not as good as the original, but definitely had potential. I think it could evolved into something pretty cool had it been allowed to continue a bit longer. As far as quality, "2008" was certainly a major step up from the horribly low budget attempt that was "Team Knight Rider." At the same time, as a "canon junkie," I do appreciate that (what I've seen so far; I'm half way through it), it doesn't seem wholly inconsistent with TKR either. While it doesn't directly reference TKR as "canon," so far, I haven't seen anything that directly contradicts it either. If anything, 2008 even includes some thematic nods to TKR, such as the use of a cargo plane in lieu of a semi (although, I prefer the semi). But that indicates a procedural evolution. And KI3T's technologies actually (in some ways) have more in common with the TKR cars than the original KITT. Not to mention-Ford! Still, there's no beating the original Trans-Am!

It had to be a fucking Mustang... That shit is everywhere, even under my pillow. Screw the Mustang, hooray for the TransAm! Besides, with those lights on the bonnet, Knight 3000 looks more like a car racing Safety Car or an ambulance rather than like a futuristic car as Knight 2000 has always been. Nothing can beat the elegance of KITT 2000 (save KARR 2000), and small wonder that the re-edition on the famous car using a boring Mustang failed to achieve the popularity that the original series had. Small wonder about that. Last, to me Knight 2000 sounds way better than Knight 3000. It looks like a more "rounded" or definite number. I hope they won´t bother to make Knight 4000, 5000, 6000... 100,000...
