Sick vid! Just need to get this off my chest: The Knightmare effects are mismatched compared to the Mekk-Knights they once were. This is really pissing me off. Purple and Mermaid both fetch cards from deck. Orange and Goblin both summon stuff from hand. Red and Cerberus both pop monsters Yellow and Phoenix both pop backrow Indigo and Unicorn are kind of a stretch, but I guess Indigo "shuffles" around the field Green and Gryphon both recur cards from GY This is such a missed opportunity and I'm really fuck mad about it now thx for coming to my ted talk/autistic outburst :)

This is how I feel when I look at raptite and analyzer isn’t on top, and leonite has seeker and dragite has analyzer. They could’ve just matched the fucking colors but nooo

@@sleepyygo The reason that raptite doesn't have analyzer on its back is because analyzer is a level 4, whereas Researcher (2) + Main deck Raptite (4) = Big Raptite, hence the two sharing the card art. Seeker (2) + Main deck Leonite (4) = Big Leonite (6). Analyzer(4) + Main deck Dragite (4) = Big Dragite. Also, if they matched the colours, you would not be able to see seeker on top of dragite lol. A similar thing can be seen with yang zing monsters: Yazi (7) shares design elements with Jiatou (2 tuner) and Taotie (5 non-tuner), or Baxia (8) sharing design elements with Chiwen (1 tuner), Bi'an (3 non tuner) and suanni (4 non tuner)

I respect your points! This archetype single-handily made Links generic and desirable to play. Before them, only Spyral could extra link. But after, the floodgates were open! As an engine and usability-wise, I 100% agree. However, from an "Top decks" perspective, I've got to disagree.

Yeah I’m certainly mot arguing for knightmare as a deck, purely an archetype and the impact it had. It terms of strongest decks that would be a very different conversation, probably centered around zoodiac

Really strong archetype, but realistically because they’re so old at this point we can only really speculate how they would be meta warping/powerful in comparison to crazy strong and splashed modern archetypes

@@sleepyygo Dragon Rulers are the only archetype which had Every.Single.Card banned at one point, not even mentioning them as a comparison is insane They were so good, that in every format that had more than 1 legal, they were the best deck also imagine how insane they would be with rokkets, absorouter is a 7 that you can send with ravine which you search with the rulers, router gets you the lv1 tuner which summons router back, etc. Also dracosacc spam with auroradon is possible The Rulers are imo clearly stronger than the Knightmares

@@jakob1809 this is actually inaccurate. The dragon rulers when they actually all got banned wasn’t because they were actively ruining the format, they had actually fallen off. The only reason they all actually got put from 1>0 was a preemptive hit from konami who was afraid of the deck paired with dark matter dragon. I stated my opinion on the matter, in terms of impact, and I can respect yours, but please don’t misrepresent with falsifications.

@@sleepyygo they fell off because the babies were all banned and the big rulers all at 1, and even then they, as you said, wouldve been a very threatening deck with dark matter

@@jakob1809 i don’t dent the strength of dragon rulers. But the archetype knightmare defined not only links as a mechanic, and the vrains era as a whole, but enabled the entire era of orcust, which had a dominant reign for a wide amount of time. I don’t discount the rulers, but I would say there is an argument to be made against them, this is my argument. Tis all.

While Knight.ares were fantastic, I don't think they were really the best archetype in Yugioh. It was more that the link mechanic was powerful and they made up the majority of good links at the time.
