Just finished season two, and I gotta say, this show has become one of my top favorites. The first episode is a bit jarring as the animation was a bit off and they just thrust you in to the story while introducing almost all the characters and expecting you to keep track of them all. However, over time the animation seemed to get smoother and once I got a hold of what was going on, the story became much more compelling. Something about how we're shown all this techno-science stuff that makes people bigender or immortal (or fucking BEARS?!) with no real explanation as to how its possible keeps me curious as to what the hell is going on behind the scenes. "Yeah, these chicks who look about twenty years old are actually only five years old or some shit. How? Uhh... I don't know, just cuz." Something about not having a complete explanation about all the weird shit that's happening provides this thick layer of mystery that intrigues me. Again, one of my favorite shows. Still have to read the manga though.

SPOIL : At the end of the original manga (that I'm actually reading) Hoshijiro is reincarnated with a reproduction of a human shaped body by the gaunas and founds a family with Nagate on a new planet. Then they rebuild a new Sidonia and some of the former crew members go back on expedition while the civilians stay on the new colony That's the real end tho, Nagate creates a familly and The End.
