For me channel lock and other brands seem to slip a groove when I try to apply pressure or just don’t grip the nut,bolt or pipe. The knipex cobras grip like hell and don’t slip positions on me. Love them !

I've recently picked up some of those baby cobras, thinking they would be more like 125s. I was initially a bit disappointed, but then I found they would fit alongside my Leatherman Wave in my EDC bag's knife pouch. Now I'm super happy with them. :)

3:19 These are actually Alligator pliers and they are still in production. Its Knipex spin on the improved Dako Gleitfix design of the late 60ies/ early 70ies.

Love those tools. There's another difference between the Knipex Plier Wrench and the Cobra Wrench. The mechanism on the Plier Wrench ensures that its jaws are parallel to each other at all times. That's different than on the Cobra wrenches.

I carry a 125 for edc, and have a 150 coming for edc as well. Excellent pliers, cobra's

I have been carrying the mini Cobras in my pocket for a few months and they are very useful. Great tool. Nice video.

I agree Lee. And it's surprising just how useful they can be. I've pulled out wine corks (after initial opening of course), poped bottle caps, fixed zippers, and opened packages among other EDC tasks.

As pliers, these are almost perfect. What would make them perfect? A hole near the end of the handle for attaching a strap. Making that hole fit 1/4" bits would allow it to serve as a screwdriver with additional leverage.

Why didn't they dip the grips on the mini?

Knipex Cobra 100mm rides my pocket. In all manner of dress. GREAT EDC tool. I have the Knipex 125mm cobra and pliers wrench tools as well. They come with me everywhere, but the 100mm cobra is pocket gear. Leatherman pliers only wish they were this small and this good.
@simonh6371 Жыл бұрын
Actually the jaws are about the same size as the small pliers on the Leatherman Squirt PS4/Style PS but obviously they open much further, and are 100x as strong.

Being a channellock fan I have the #524 and the #424, I have found them both to be fine tools at an excellent price and tried to carry them but just didn't find myself using them much in a daily role. If I had found myself really needing either in a pocket carry role, then I might try these little Knipex.

They have that feature on all the Cobras. Check out the Cobras with the red buton instead of the chrome button they have. The red button ones, have the same mechanism that the new minis have!! They already existed before they produced the new mini and that's where this new model, ows it's mechanism. (I just don't know how many years back, they produced that kind of free sliding mechanism) Great video, really enjoed it!

The darn Knipex Cobras just last and last. I want new ones, but my old ones are still great. But if there truly are new features, then its not really a new one, but a different one, right?

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about the difference, but it seems to make sense that there would be technology transfer between versions.

The 'ol.. "Wiener in the Jelly jar" trickery. Classic. You can also paint them with Krylon spray paint for added grip & speed.

I bought the 125 I didn’t find close the xs for edc my hands are big and I think 125 would be better for me I saw that these two baby’s have got the same jaw opening which one do you prefer for edc ?
@PhreakDarkSoul2 жыл бұрын
Depends your "edc" purpose, target view and how often you use them. The 100 are great but a little bit of pain if you need high forces to open screw nuts. If your target is lightweight or as compact as possible, the 100 mm are the best choice. If you don't mind the size or weight, you can go for the 125 or a mix of them (not sold as bundle): Both 110 (00 20 72 V04 XS) are 30 x 110 x 45 mm and 175 g. Both 125 (00 20 72 V04) are 75 x 180 x 55 mm and 264 g -> 89 g heavier and much bigger (45 x 70 x 10 mm). The jaw size changing mechanism of the 125 mm versions are far better. The reduced mechanism on the 110 mm versions are also working but with less comfort (the set size will change itself if you open the jaws to wide).

What is the blue band on the Cobra XS used for? Marking? Improved handling?

Just got some 180mm. Disappointed as there is quite some lateral movement in the jaws meaning they don't always line up, being up to half a jaws width out. This seems like either poor design or poor QA.
