In part 2, I make adjustments for the drop of the v neck line, making sure it doesn't drop too low, or hit too high. This is because I want to wear it a certain way and I don't want it to be too revealing, or hide any necklaces I plan to wear with it. Then I continued with the front panels while trying on the piece in between. I attempted to shape the sleeves on my own but eventually realized I needed help so I referred back to the tutorial. Finally, I knit the button band and secured all buttons before wet blocking.
I've knit cardigans in the past, but they never really turned out right. This one is the best one so far. Despite it being a very basic cardigan, the finesse is in the details. The shaping around the sleeve cap and shoulders elevate the fit, and overall, makes the piece look more professional. The simple stockinette pattern emphasizes the clean lines, adding to a very polished piece. I also much prefer 1x1 ribbing because it looks more detailed, like finer print (if that makes sense).
Lastly, the yarn. It's super soft and suprisngly reworkable. It doesn't lose it's shape and is a pleasure to knit with. I went with a fresh spring blue which just pops!
(ps.The tutorial I used is also very clear and detailed. I highly recommend it.)

You know those documentaries that show the time-lapse of a flower sprouting, growth and blooming? Your videos remind me of this. Even the ripping out - like the ebb and flow of the tide. 😊

When I weave in my yarn, I split the yarn and go different directions. Way less bulk. Also use a sharp point needle and it will combine the fibers and be less likely to work it’s way loose.

@@dschaffin Great tip about splitting the yarn when weaving. I think I'll try it next time :)

I don’t know if I could do a sweater this well. You must have been doing this a really long time to be at this level. This is awesome

Yes, I learned how to knit many years ago, but only started taking it more seriously around 2020. Thanks so much for watching and happy knitting!

I recommend natural fibers for everything. I find they wear well over time and are breathable while still having insulating properties. Hope this helps!

when you unravel how do you remember where you were up to? whenever i make a mistake and i find it so hard to reorientate myself- and thats if i can manage to pick up the stitches correctly in the first place!

Sometimes I'll use a stitch marker to mark my work before I unravel, that way I know how far to unravel to, and where I need to continue. Overall though, I think it's about becoming more familiar with 'reading' the fabric. So, determining the knits, purls, decreases/increases, etc. Once you're more experienced with this, you can grasp more quickly where you left off. I hope this answers your question!

Yes, it took many unravels! Plus, this basic cardigan had a few intermediate details like shaping at the shoulders and arms. Thanks so much for commenting :)
