What an invaluable series of lessons. I recently bought Esther's book and the little Gokhale Method head pillow because I'm suffering from terrible neck pain. I wanted to find some videos online where Esther demonstrates her techniques and your video is a treasure trove! These are the building blocks to the Gokhale Method all in one short entertaining clip. Thank you, thank you!

I love the Gokhale method. It has helped my back, but I still have a ways to go to reduce my pain. And is there anyone more charming and soothing than Esther? She seems like a really lovely person.

Any tips for keeping knitting high enough to see while neck is proper position?
@Knitfreedom5 жыл бұрын
The nose should be tilted down, with the back of the neck straight. So if you have your arms at elbow height, you can see your knitting. No need to hold it up in the air.

I love this video and will be sharing with my knitting group. Also, I love your drums. Who made them? I’m a musician (classic string player) and play congas sometimes just for fun. In 50 plus years of being a musician I’ve not seen drums like those.

I get very sore muscles mid upper back when I try to sit up straight, and pull shoulders back and down, and chin(neck)in/back or whatever you call it.
@Knitfreedom4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jules, this is a great point. I totally agree. That's a lot of work for your mid upper back, when your hips are probably not in a good position (tilted forward) to allow your back to align naturally. I've been doing a lot of work on natural/effortless good posture and body well-being. I'll be publishing information on www.self-yoga.com as time allows. If you're interested, sign up for updates there and stay in touch with me. I'll teach you what I've discovered about feeling wonderful without ANY effort (ps. It's great).

”Doso shocking guide” posture treatment (check it on Google) claims that it keeps your shoulder and back straight, and it is certainly correct. The job I have requires it and I`ve definitely appeared better. If you wish to retain the proper posture for life, I suggest this procedure.

Can Crochet and knitting cause tight SCM muscles
@Knitfreedom3 жыл бұрын
Repeated actions like looking down to type or knitting can cause tightness in that area. That's why it's so good to stretch before and after these kinds of activities so you don't have any unnecessary tightness. These stretches are a great place to start :)

Sounds weird that hunter gatherer stuff but ya many different knowledge sources are good to look at .some of this makes sense and i dont think will hurt to try. Esther looked really stiff and not comfortable though to me .But thx for giving info.

Her shoulders go up when she breathes. Aren't we supposed to belly breathe so that we're not transferring tention into our shoulders?
@Knitfreedom5 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, that's a great question. Esther actually debunks the idea of "belly breathing good, back breathing bad" in her blog post here: gokhalemethod.com/blog/67317. I agree with her. In my own yoga studies and paying attention to breath, when I am in a good posture, I breathe into my back. No effort is necessary, no focus on "belly breathing" needed. It just happens perfectly on its own.

Hi Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear that you're having trouble relaxing! My heart ached when I read your comment. I totally understand. I don't have any videos on sleeping YET but I do have something that can help you a lot in the future. I was just telling another commenter on this video the same thing. I have discovered an amazing way of relaxing and getting comfortable in your body that feels sooo good that I'm starting a new website and business to teach it. I'll be publishing information on www.self-yoga.com as time allows. If you're interested, sign up for updates there and stay in touch with me. I'll show you how to get in touch with your breathing and finally feel relaxed, even while sleeping. Hugs!!!
