Carmen, what you said about wearing what you like and not necessarily what looks good on you is such an important point. When I was younger, I used to see people wearing things that I found exceptionally unflattering to them, and I wondered why they chose those things. Now I get it. If I like something, if I want to knit something that´s not necessarily the best shape or construction or that´s in a color not particularly suitable for me, I don´t care anymore. I knit what I like, I choose colors that I like and I wear what I like. I think it´s very important to make choices based on what makes you happy. Your conversation in this episode was very interesting and you two made some great comments. As always, your knits are lovely and inspiring. Thank you.

I agree!!! There are many times I knit something and feel super happy in the knitting process. But when I´m done, I´m done and I don´t particularly care about the item anymore. If I can find someone who loves it and wants it, I am thrilled. Jackie's idea of giving away the 5s (or ranked below that items) is great. I think I do that instinctively because I really am a process knitter, and the projects are rarely as important. Even when I love something, if someone else admires it and expresses any desire for it, I'm generally glad to give it away. My thinking is, I can always make it again! I LOVE that you two give each other your knits. Your relationship is beautiful.

Thank you for sharing this podcast at the perfect time to keep me company when I was stuck in bed for a few days! you've brought me laughter and joy! So much to comment on again but will keep it to a few: 1) what a wonderful idea to do your top 10s! and so interesting to see what comes out on top and what doesn't. I am adding the Easy like Sunday Morning to my list!! Also, I get it for the Yokelore but I still think it would look good with a pair of jeans! 2) love Harden and so regret I didn't buy more; so if you either of you have any to sell I will buy!! 😁 3) I have a skein of LMW and wonder if that is enough for the Musselburgh but if not I still think it needs to be a hat! 4) for the FOs I don't wear I just frog and use the yarn again; when there is yarn we love so much it's sad to think it is not getting any use! so frog if it doesn't work for a remake of Soe, and make something else that will bring you joy! Wishing you both the best of holidays with yourloved ones and can't wait to catch up again in the New Year! 🎄🎆🎉

So glad we were able to keep you company while you were recovering! And I love all your points! You def need to make the easy like Sunday morning sweater! It will be gorgeous on you! For harden, I may end up with some extra! And Melissa from Sonder just made a Musselburgh with one skein of fingering so it might work! Haha I wish I could remember how much I used! And that is very smart about ripping out! Haha it’s just hard for me to do it!!

You both bring so much joy to my life, and I love seeing all the creating you do. I just wanted to comment on the non professional golfing. My daughter buys the "previously loved" golf balls in bulk, because she loses so many, and she dyes them a fluorescent pink. There's a tip of the day for you Carmen! 😁 I just heard Carmen mention Debbie from The Loving Path, and she was my first hand dyer! I met her at a Merry Market in London in December, 2017, where I bought a single skein of her signature colourway. On January 1, 2018, I cast on my first hand dyed, real wool shawl, the Spindrift, by Helen Stewart. I've been a "K"nitter ever since that day. I have knit many sweaters, shawls, hats and socks in her yarn, and her 50 gram + mini sock set is great for shortie socks for my hubby, who wears them when he golfs. She is local to me in London, literally 10 minutes away, so her yarn is very accessible to me, and I love it! Last thing, promise! Thank you Jaxkie for mentioning tou use a smaller needle for the left hand side. I just downsized my needle on my Anthology Throw, I'm up to 1152 stitches, and it is making such a huge difference! Plus, it's much easier doing stitches like k2tog, with the left hand stitches being looser on the needle. So thanks very much!!!

Omg Marg!!!! I love all of this!!!! Haha especially your daughter dying her own balls. That is next level! Haha although I will say, I avoid using used balls bc I’m convinced that those are naughty balls that got lost in the first place and are intent on doing that again and again 😝. I also love that you know Debbie! She is such a beautiful human being and such an artist!!

You guys are so inspirational. ❤ I’m a committed Nutiden knitter now. My 10’s are Lunenberg in Lichen& Lace Rustic Sport, Before Fall sweater in Nutiden and Humulus in Cumbria. All wool all the time for the win! And my all time fav shawl is the Sulina shawl in Nutiden Harden, inspired by Jackie’s. ❤ I wear this all the time so far this year because it’s been fairly mild and I’m avoiding my winter coat. It’s so cozy! (northern Alberta here- I get sick and tired of my winter coat if winter starts too early. Definitely not this year!) I made a start on the fleur but the colours weren’t working for me so I’ll retry. Fleury knitting fleurever! So punny! 😂😂. Happy Solstice today and have a great holiday season. 🎄⛄️Looking forward to seeing you two next year! 🎉😊

Your laughing is infectious, so funny. Love your handspun FO's and the love and thought that has been put into them. Carmen, I recently finished the Aosta Cardigan in Harden, held double and love the airyness of it. Have you tried adding vinegar to your first rinse of Nutiden FO's? My Harden cardi was soaked in lukewarm water with a glob of vinegar. There was no color bleeding and the yarn feels like it soften, more than previous sweaters rinsed in a wool wash soap. I'm intrigued to know what your next year's MAL will feature. "I knit you a happy holiday and a cozy New Year"🍷

I've also knit many items that when I'm done knitting. I think that was fun! But this isn't for me. Then I give the sweater, socks, or whatever away. Sometimes the joy of knitting the yarn and finishing is enough. I also have knits I wear and love everyday. Both are a success. Also giving knits brings me a lot of joy too, to know it will be worn and loved out in the world.

...and finally catching up with the last parts of this, on the last day of the year (home from family holiday) -- so glad both that nutiden is making a comeback in your collective knitting (it's still the mainstay of mine, despite forays out to other things), and SO glad for the conversation about the finished knits that just don't end up getting worn/used -- really appreciate the checking back in after some time has passed! i generally find it ironic that the complex colorwork patterns that can be so fun to make can be really challenging to wear... and i'm SO hoping the Soe sweater got turned it back into yarn, as the color looks so amazing on Carmen, i hope you give it another try with a better-suited pattern. (I bought 4 skeins of the same wool, and am baffled as to what to do with it! i don't think it's enough for a sweater, and not sure i'd ever wear a sweater so bright, either, but it's not the right texture, it seems, for a shawl/scarf... but what an amazing color.) New Year's Day (tomorrow) is likely going to be a big go-through-closet-clear-some-stuff-out day for me. And sorry not to have joined the fleur-along (combination of a giant test knit this fall for Inese + not being the biggest fan of bobbles), but looking forward to hearing about your new 2024 KAL! happiest of new years!

Excited to have another podcast of yours to watch before the holidays 🙌 About color seasons: I've watched your podcast for only a few episodes but I am convinced that Jackie is a spring (which would explain your love for low contrast and neutral/warm colors)! Also, would love to know Jackie's trick with needle sizes for faster knitting.

I have such a hard time imaging Jackie and Carmen are the same season, and am convinced Jackie is in the autumn family! Maybe it's the comp screens, but I don't see such a strong contrast between your hair/eyes/skin or the coolness in your tones to best fit the winter traits, and it would also explain why you 're drawn to (and look amazing in) low contrast/volume colors and also smaller/softer prints (like your Tessellated pullover, which is soft in color and pattern vs your instant crush sweater - which is bright and saturated with a large, strong print). ... but regardless, all your sweaters are master pieces!
